With Carl we delved into the past of documentaries, how the genre evolved and how different sub genres came to rise. I worked my way up the timeline to present day documentaries, which I will analyse and take inspiration from and pour inspiration from them over my documentary. With Reg we Analysed the demographics gender, age, location, ethnicity and all aspects of the audiences, we talked about the Broadcast Audience Research Board and how they collect the valuable data, statistics into account, analyse them, and how companies apply them to their projects.

Music Videos

Since my original FMP can’t be made I’ve decided to compromise and make two music videos as a backup. I realized that one video wasn’t nearly enough for my tastes or standards so I’ve done double the work to satisfy me. They will be filmed in the Green Screen room TV Studio  and will be very minimalist from a visual standpoint. 

Coldplay - Yes Music Video

This music video will be Saul Bass inspired, consisting of characters silhouettes running across many minimalist locations they’re. The person who chases them will be shown in a fantastical eye. It will include many, many different colours but the colours will all have a warm tone to them.  

Coldplay - Spies Music Video

This will be the second music video and will be inspired by the many, many Bond openings throughout cinema. I will be cut to the beat, the drums in the song will be the most focused beat. 

I also had an idea for a slow motion western style food fight, chase, action sequence set to Catch Hell Blues - The White Stripes

I’m going to throw this out there for any teachers reading this, it’s a yearly thing that happens anyone can enter and I’m not 100% sure if the college has heard of it before, I think the students who want to make a short BTS breakdown would do so, there’s some really ambitious students in the FaTV department, they’d be really interested in this.

I’ll just finish my project, submit the Saul Bass stuff for the 24th/25th and still go with my project anyway then submit that for the end of year show.

For the cross section I'll

1) book out a camera, get a pan down wide shot of my house, zoom in and then leave the shot still, have four diffrent camera set ups one for a wide shot of the living room, one for the stairs, one for the upstairs hallway, one for the bed room.

2) get a wide shot of random houses, have one house in the centre, do the same thing.

3) open on black screen, red light abruptly shines upon a model house and do the same.

Thought I’d mention I made an entire playlist of fan made Saul Bass openings for well known properties of pop culture. This is a reference point for my FMP the style that I’m going for and the quality that I’ll probably end up with. .

I know the films is suppose to be in Black and White, films like it are specifically lit so suit the B&W photography. But this is pretty gorgeous nonetheless. .

My ideas for the FMP

A To Catch a Thief style caper, with a saul bass style opening following a college student unknowingly falling in love with a thief (so like To Catch a Thief from Grace Kellys perspective)

A music video for Coldplay - Shiver where the lyrics are shown with a 3D effect interacting with the objects and environment in the shots, with occasional frame by frame animation of someone singing the songas live

A quirky and witty review for Dances with Wolves

A story that is essentially Doctor Who but instead of travelling space and time, they travel through various movies, TV and Film characters escape into the real world and vice versa. I’ve done tons of planning for this one (some on older blog posts), I just don’t have enough connections like actors or sound operating people)  

A stop motion version of The Hungry Caterpillar for my sister

A western style, shootout, with slow motion and a use an understanding of editing that I’ve acquired over the past years. this is a music video for White Stripes - Catch Hell Blues 

A two minute trailer for my Sci Fi Drama pitch.
