The Adventures of GooseMan: Book 1 Story 1, Beginning
The Adventures of GooseMan Book 1 Story 1 Beginning GooseMan is an odd superhero to say the least. He watches over a small forest-like town known as Logrid. The town's culture is set around hunting, where the main game animals are ducks or other birds. Though, there is a larger city neighboring Logrid. This city was named New Gilford. GooseMan chooses to stay and protect the town, but he will migrate (see what I did there?) to the city if needed to. Backstory: In the early ages of GooseMan, he is just a kid. As a kid he lived in a pleasant house. The boy's name was Joe Kidd. This is the story of how GooseMan came to be. "Wake up!" yelled Joe's mother, "It's time for your first day of 8th grade!" In his waking moments Joe thought, "Why do I need to go to school? I'm significantly smarter than everyone else anyway." This was true, Joe is always considered an outcast. He had a theory, ' being a hunter equals unintelligence'. However, his thoughts about his own intelligence were rivaled by another boy. This boy's name is Connor Runyan. The two make for an excellent pair of best friends. They both share a love of many things such as science and mathematics. At lunch the two sit alone at their own table, no one wants to even get near them. It doesn't matter to Connor and Joe, that's all they want. Behind both of their houses was a trail in the woods that come together at a halfway point. This is the path the two boys walk to school on. When going this way on the first day they meet and Connor immediately says to Joe, "Are you ready?" "As ready as I will ever be." says Joe. "I heard that there was a new kid that moved here around three weeks ago. Do you know anything about him?" "Yeah... his name is Sam Rougue. His parents... don't live here anymore. What I mean is..." Joe cuts Connor off, "I know what you mean." The rest of their walk is devoid of any conversation The bell rings signifying the beginning of 1st period, but Joe and Connor have been there for ten minutes. Within their company is Sam. Their 1st period is math. As the teacher strolls in he asks a trivia question, "Does anyone here know the cube root of 314,432?" Sam almost immediately replied, "62!" The question was meant to be a joke, but Sam answered. The teacher didn't have time to check his answer before, "Actually it's 68. I would've answered sooner but I was yawning. Nice try though." Joe says with a narcissistic tone. The rest of the morning is filled with examples of notions of the same caliber. Before lunch Joe has to use the restroom. On his way out, he is suddenly stopped by a forceful impact that struck the left side of his jaw. His vision is impaired now and he only notices a flash of light. Without much effort Joe is beaten down easily and is left to lie unconscious. During the lunch period, Connor is left to only wonder what has happened. Upon his awakening, Joe studied the time and realized that lunch was the only period he had missed. He had been unconscious for 27 minutes, he had 3 minutes before lunch ended. "I'm not going to tell anyone about this yet, because I have a plan" Joe promised himself. He just walks down the hallway seemingly inconspicuous and pretty much unscathed. On his way to his next class, Joe happened to run into Connor. "Joe! Where were you?" says Connor. "It's unimportant, I'll tell you later." says Joe. Connor simply replies with, "Oh... ok." and then walks on. Later that night, Joe is at home. He steadily paces up and down his room, waiting for the time to arise. Joe is soon startled by a loud noise. He realizes that the clock has just hit 11 p.m. It is time. A message comes up on Connor’s phone, “Are you busy?” “It's 11 pm, what else would I be doing?”, Connor sarcastically jests. “Sleeping.” Joe quickly comes back with. “Anyway, meet up with me at school.” “You mean like tomorrow?” Connor asks. “No now.” Joe says. “Why?” Asks Connor Joe then explains as best he can of what had happened earlier in the day. The duo forms a plan that they would then go to the school that night and get the camera feed to see who the assailant was. Joe then prepares for the future,he writes a note that read, “I've already gone to school”. When his parents would walk in to wake him up, they would see the note and dismiss their worries. This was not abnormal for Joe he would often leave early for school. The two found each other outside the school building. Hacking into the school’s security cameras was not a difficult task for the pair, they had done it many times before just because they were bored, in the computer lab, and had finished all their homework for the entire week. “Never before had I appreciated that we didn't have as well of an internet security system as that of Gilford." Said Joe “Same for me.” Replied Connor, “In 3… 2… 1… and we’re in. Which bathroom were you in?” “The one closest to the lunchroom” Joe replied. As the two analyzed the footage, they noticed that one boy in particular stopped in right after Joe and came back out too fast to have used the restroom. The boy was none other than Sam Rougue. It wasn't really a surprise, Joe hadn't really made the best of friends with him yet. They went home perhaps Joe would mention it to him tomorrow at school. He didn't know what he was even going to say, but he knew silence was not the answer. The come across the fork in the road. “See you tomorrow, or I guess today.” Said Connor now noticing that his watch had already been past midnight. “See you.” Joe replied. The two then parted ways. After Joe and Connor separated from each other, Joe could only ponder of what tomorrow would be like. He wondered if he would even have enough courage to say something. Along his path, Joe came across a goose. It was just standing there which wasn't normal for them. Most geese would fly away if a person crossed them. Joe decided it was probably best to scare it off, he didn’t want to hurt it, but he just didn’t want to walk all the way around the forest. “Shoo, go on, get out of here.” Joe quietly yelled at the goose. However, the goose didn’t even budge an inch, it just quietly stood there. So, he kicked up the dirt around him to see if the goose would notice. The goose did turn around, but just stared at Joe rather than the average goose action of flying away. Then seemingly left with no other option Joe attempted to swat at it. All of these actions took place in only the span of a minute. When Joe got too close on a swat, the goose became angered. “YOU HAVE BECOME A NUISANCE TO ME, NOW YOU SHALL PERISH!!!” Exclaimed the creature. A sense of extreme horror washed over Joe as the realization that this creature might not be a real goose became clear. The goose then shrunk itself down to the size of a nickel and flew inside Joe’s throat as his jaw was dropped in awe. Joe clutched at his throat with an extreme force, and did it so rapidly that he was able to catch the goose mid flight. He held his grip for as long as he could hold his breath, the goose was suffocated. Joe finally released his grip and passed out onto the ground. While Joe had lied on the forest ground, the creature already was decaying inside him. The goose’s bones gave off a golden light. At the last second of their decay the bones gave off a small burst of light. The light was able to pass through Joe’s throat and other things around it. The wave of light traveled and struck Connor who was still on his way home. “I am so tired that I’m hallucinating.” Connor said to himself. He had no proof of otherwise because after the wave struck him, it vanished. So, he continued walking home. When Joe awoke, he was felt oddly refreshed. He checked his watch, it was already 6 am. “No time to change.” Joe said to himself as he walked on to school. When his parents went to wake him up, Joe’s note had already been there, and they left as normal. On his way through the woods, Joe came across another goose. This one was different, however. This one had an injured wing. He wanted to avoid as many geese as possible. After he walked past the goose, it began honking furiously. Joe turned around, and the goose got up and flew away. “Perhaps it was never actually injured.” Joe muttered to himself. Then continued walking to school. At the school, Joe waited on the steps for the rest of the school to arrive. During this time he thought of what had happened. Then Connor finally came, 15 minutes later. “So hey, uhh, did you notice anything after we separated last night.” Joe asked. Connor had thought to himself that he might have only imagined the wave of light. “No…” Connor replied, and the two went about their normal day. There wasn't really anything in school that amaze Joe, because he already knew it. Also, he was more interested in what happened outside of it. So, he didn't say much. During the walk home, neither of them spoke. At his house, Joe wasn't even willing to eat dinner. After the horror he had experienced the night prior, he didn't want anything else down his throat. “You know, you really should eat. We don't need you to be any skinnier.” His mother warned. Joe simply walked away from the table, and went to the bathroom scale. He stepped on and waited. The scale read “ERROR”. This wasn't possible. Joe knew that the scale could measure anything between 1 and 400 pounds. These were impossible weights for him, the last time he had checked he was 111 pounds. Maybe he’d stepped on too early. When he tried to step off, Joe found that he couldn't move, as if he did weigh over 400 pounds. The minutes flew by as Joe struggled to only lift his leg. Then, when Joe tried to jump off the scale with all of his strength, he hit his head on the ceiling and gently floated to the ground as he lost consciousness. Joe's mother then entered. She had no worries about it, and she carried him to his room. She did notice that he was extremely light. As he slumped on the bed, Joe seemed to sink into the mattress. When he awoke, luckily Joe was of regular weight. It was 10 pm. He had a sudden intense rage in him. He couldn't believe that Sam had beaten him up. Joe decided to sneak out of his house, traveled through the woods, and along the roadside. He walked for quite awhile until he had arrived at the Gilford orphanage. Luckily for him, Joe didn't have to break in, Sam was sitting on a bench in the backyard. “Hey Sam!” Joe yelled from across the way. As he was yelling, and Sam was turning around, Joe ran up and punched him in the face. Sam was not questioning what had just happened, nor did he fight back. Almost as if he expected it. “Why did you decide to beat me up?” asked Joe with no hesitation signaling that he was furious. “You use your intelligence to annoy me, as if it’s your soul purpose. I've dealt with enough problems without you creating more. Why do you feel like you’re so much better than me?” Sam then replied. “Listen I don’t feel that way” Joe responded, “ when it comes to you, I know I’m better.” Sam stood up and attempted to hit Joe with every ounce of power he had. However, Joe quickly dodged out of theway. The two boys then became locked in a terrible fist-fight. Joe had noticed that Sam’s punches were incredibly fast. The two boys seemed a perfect match for one another. Joe then punched Sam so hard in the ribs, that he broke three of his fingers. Simultaneously, it broke one of Sam’s ribs and knocked the wind out of him. Both of them were ignorant of this pain, however. Joe had not only given strong blows, he had received them as well. Sam fought back by punching Joe directly on the eye. Upon other physical ailments, a black eye began to accumulate. The only noise that was present in Joe’s mind, was a very sharp ringing sound. Then, both boys, still without pain, moved their fists with as much agility as ever. They each landed a powerful right-hook to the bottom of the other’s jaw. The metallic-like taste of blood now filled their mouths. Sam, weary as he was, fell to the ground, as Joe limped home At his home, Joe looked at himself in the mirror. It was now 11 o’clock. On his right eye, Joe noticed significant bruising. He wondered how he was going to explain this in the morning. Joe thought he could just sleep off the now accumulating pain. As he rested, he dreamed of what had happened. When Joe saw Sam falling to the ground for the second time he woke up. For him, it was hard to move, painful even. He thought to himself, “Thank goodness I'm not that violent in real life”. Joe found enough strength to continue onwards to the bathroom. As he looked once again in the mirror, he became paralyzed with fear when the sudden realization dawned on him, “It wasn’t just a dream”. Joe glanced at the clock and it was already a little past 2:00 a.m. Joe rushed out of is house as fast as he could to get to where Sam was. He arrived and Sam was still lying there, luckily unnoticed. He checked his pulse, nothing… Sam was dead. Joe had no idea what to do. He lied Sam on the outside bench, and began doing chest-compressions. “I can’t be a murderer” Joe thought to himself. He continued on with this procedure, Joe had no better ideas on healing a dead man. He slowed down, and almost began to cry, but then, a golden light transferred itself from Joe’s hands to Sam’s heart. From that moment on, Joe heard snoring! Joe exclaimed, “He’s alive! Wait, but how? Maybe Connor knows the answer. I’ll ask him tomorrow, of course.”. The next morning, Joe put on sunglasses to hide his black eye. As he ate cereal, his parents asked him, “ Why are you wearing sunglasses?” “I have a migraine” Joe thought that was a sufficient lie. Joe then went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and comb his hair. After doing so, he took off his glasses to see how bad the swelling was. Surprisingly, there was no black eye! Come to think of it, he didn’t die in the middle of the night from choking on his blood either. He only kept the sunglasses on until he left his house, only so that his parents wouldn’t question him. He walked to school with Connor. “Um… hey?” Joe hesitantly said. “Um yeah?” Connor replied. Joe had to now think of the perfect wording to ask the one thing on his mind. “Okay, medical trivia question time. Say a guy was severely injured, let’s go with broker rib, bleeding from his mouth, possible lung puncture, and a broken bottom jaw. Now all of these effects seem meaningless when it's realized he has no pulse, like dead. Now using any form of real world magic and miracles, is there any sort of way that he could be fine after a couple of chest-compressions?” “Wow” Connor said “you went through that long series of internal problems to tell me that he’s dead. No, he won’t be fine. Are you feeling okay this morning? That was quite a specific question.” “Yeah, I'm fine. Is there any way at all?” Joe asked again. “Is it possible that the boy was only sleeping and the doctor is just really bad at taking pulses, because people can live from those kinds of conditions, with some more treatment.” Conner questioned. “Um no, the doctor is 100% sure and chest-compressions were the only medical treatment.” Joe corrected. “Then no. Naturally, it’s not possible.” Connor replied. Connor thought to himself of how strange Joe was acting. He began to suspect that not all of his question was for trivia. Connor carried out a new conversation, “So, what did you do to feel the need to ask that one?” Joe needed to tell his best friend at least something, “Well, I can't lie to you, I killed someone.” “HAHAHA! Very funny. So?” Connor persisted. “I’m not kidding.” Joe continued on, however instead of only telling Connor something, he told him everything. “So yeah, after I passed out from being attacked, I dreamt of myself, laying there, on the ground. Then, out of me, came a golden wave of light.” “Joe,” Connor interrupted, “I don’t think that was really a dream.” “What?” Joe asked with a stupid look on his face. “I’m serious, after we separated from each other that one night, I saw a golden wave of light, it struck me. I thought it was only a hallucination.” “Well, what happened next?” Joe asked with a hint of excitement to his tone. “Nothing really, I continued on walking home.” Connor answered unenthusiastically. After Joe finished his story, the rest of the day was surprisingly normal. Except for the thought on Joe’s mind that he can resurrect the dead. Sam was increasingly quiet throughout the school day. He usually talked all the time. “I hope he doesn’t remember our fight. I hope he’s not being quiet so I can’t correct him” Joe’s mind went racing. “Hey Connor” Joe whispered when the few minutes of free time at the end of the third period were allowed. “Go see if there's anything wrong with Sam”. “You know what? I think the fact that you killed him is the bother, but I’ll check.” Connor whispered back. He walked over to Sam who was looking off into space. He didn’t even realize Connor approaching until, “Hey Sam.” Connor greeted with a friendly tone not to arouse suspicion. “Oh, um… Hey” Sam quietly said. “Is everything alright?” Connor asked. “Yeah, it’s just Joe.” Sam replied vaguely. “Joe? What about him?” Connor asked as if he didn’t already know. Connor thought to himself of what would happen if Sam knew. “I had this intense dream, we had an extremely damaging battle, and I looked dead, but then Joe came back to heal me. I have no idea why he would just save me. I beat him just as much as much as he did me. We just seem to be enemies. Perhaps Joe just has a heart of gold. I then woke up exactly where the dream ended, I don't even remember passing out or anything.” Sam said. Connor then thought to himself of how the story that Sam recounted was almost a life changing experience. The best part was that he knew none of it was true. Conor thought that since Sam’s gone through such a revolutionary moment, he should know. “Well, maybe, you have a heart of gold too” is all that Connor said to subtly hint at the fact that it wasn’t a dream. Then, the bell rung and it was on to the next class. “Does he remember anything?” Joe asked worriedly. “Not really, only as a dream.” Connor reported back with the information he had now gained. The day went on and it was then finally time for lunch. “So, what all powers do you have?” Connor asked Joe excitedly. “You know, this is great, we’re not really social butterflies so no one is caring enough to listen in on our conversation. Even if they do, they’ll think we’re talking about video games or something.” Joe joked, “Anyway, let’s see, I'm not 100% sure on these but, I can heal geese and people, I'm like one million times better at fighting, and I think I can change my weight, I don’t know.” Joe said with a great level of uncertainty. “Though, those aren’t the important ones.” Joe said. “Then what are?” Connor asked barely comprehending Joe’s powers. Joe then got a smile on his face, “Whatever powers you have.” Joe said. “Here, let me explain my theory, you were also hit by the same golden light that I was, you must have something.” “Well I haven’t showed any signs, and by that I mean I haven’t killed anyone.” Connor joked. “Well… Yeah but, yeah.” Joe said. “I guess I don't have an argument for that.” Then, lunch ended, and the day dragged on for the pair as they really didn't have much left to learn in their grade. They had mainly studied over the summer. So, the next few hours seemed to only move at a crawl until the clock finally struck 2:15, it was time to go home for the weekend. As Joe woke up to find his room brightly lit on a Saturday morning, he checked his phone for any text messages. He had received a text from Connor. His text read “COME OVER HERE::URGENT!”. Peculiarly this text hadn’t come from the night before, but rather his morning. Joe slipped on his clothes for the day and sprinted out the door. On his way over to Connor’s house, Joe thought to himself, “I wonder what could be so urgent.”. Joe had no idea what he was about to see. Joe the arrived on Connor’s front porch. He texts, “Okay, I'm here.” Then he knocks on the door. Joe notices no cars were in the driveway, but then, the door opens. Joe’s mouth drops in awe, Connor as opened the door for him, but Connor is a foot taller. “Woah! Major growth spurt?” Joe asks still staring in amazement. “I guess so.” Relies Connor still unsure about his sudden change. “I didn’t even get a chance to tell my parents before they left to go out shopping. Come on inside man.” Joe the enters the house to spend the day with his friend. The two do what any normal you got would, hey play videogames together. Then, around lunch time, Joe decides to make a snack. “What are you going to make?” Asked Connor. “Something within the Joe Kidd variety of the snacking region.” Replied Joe excited about what he is making. “You mean a waffle, plus anything else you can find.” Connor said sarcastically. “Hey, my snacks are so much more than that, all it takes is one waffle and a little bit of creativity to make an amazing delight to snack on.” Joe said. “Just get some peanut butter and two waffles. BOOM! Sandwich.” Said Connor. “That's a somewhat good idea, the only problem is that it goes against the one requirement of all Joe Kidd snacks. I can only use one waffle then anything else, as long as it isn’t another waffle.” Joe said. “You treat making snacks too much like an art form.” Connor quipped. “Well, that's because it is an art form.” Joe continued, “I'll go with your idea, but I'll just have to use a slice of bread.” “The only bread we have is a stale baguette.” Connor said. “That’s okay, all bread is awesome.” Joe said as he continued making his sandwich. After he had finished cooking the waffle and using the peanut butter, Joe has a hard time with cutting the bread. Joe slips… “Shoot man!” Joe exclaimed. “What seems to be the problem?” Connor said, still making his own snack. “I’ve um… sliced my hand open” Joe hesitantly replies. “How on earth did you do that?” Connor asked flabbergasted. “I was cutting up some bread, and when I was using down on the knife, I didn't realize that the sharp side was facing me, and it cut me.” Joe admitted defeatedly. “Well, let me see it.” Connor said hoping that the cut wasn’t too bad. Joe held out his hand, the gash was pouring with blood and it stretched the length of his entire palm. Connor held down on it as he escorted Joe to the restroom for medical attention. Though midway through the trip, Joe gets a tingling sensation. Out from where the wound and Connor’s hand met, came a last of light that was so bright that it was almost binding. Then, in an instant, the two are thrust away from the blast. Joe looks down, his hand is healed. “What… just… happened?!” Connor exclaimed. “I know exactly what happened.” Joe said, “I’ve been healed, in the exact same way that I healed Sam.” “What?” Connor said baffled. “Do you know what this means?” Joe continued, “It means that both you and I have special powers.” “'This is unbelievable.” Connor said. “Well you better believe it because it’s the world you currently are living in.” Joe said. After a while Joe goes home. He goes to sleep, he had been at Connor’s house all day. The next day, now Sunday, Joe goes over to Connor’s house once again, but this time the spectacle he’s sees is even greater than he one he had seen yesterday. Connor has now returned to regular height. “How is that possible?” Joe questions. “I was secretly wearing heels on all day yesterday. Just kidding. Luckily I don’t need to explain anything to my parents because they didn’t see me at all yesterday.” Said Connor. “Perhaps, it’s another power?” Joe asked. “Is that possible? You change weight, I change height?” “I guess so.” Joe said with a certain uncertainty in his voice. The day proceeds much like the last with video games and snack making, except Joe correctly uses a knife this time. Then, Joe goes home earlier than yesterday, he must get prepared for school. The next day is just another school day except both Connor and Joe notice something off, someone is missing from their classes. His name is Ethan Conely, and he was a good intermediate between Joe and Connor and the average student. “Hey, do you know anything about Ethan?” Joe asked, “It’s strange, I don’t think that I've ever seen him absent before.” “You’re right, that is strange.” Connor said, “Well today we’re going to the computer lab in science for the report project, luckily we’re already finished. We can pull up his student records then.” In the computer lab, Joe and Connor see Ethan’s attendance record. “Even weirder, he’s been here everyday since, well, 3rd grade.” Joe said. “Yeah, I hope something terrible hasn’t happened to him.” Connor said worriedly. “Yeah, maybe we should go to his house after school.” Joe said. The two agreed to do just that. After school had let out, the two went home to put their things away. They met back at Joe’s house and continued on toward Ethan's home. They found themselves at the footstep of his door. Connor went up to it and knocked three times. As expected, Ethan’s dad answered the door. “Excuse me, I'm Connor Runyan and this is Joe Kidd, we were wondering if Ethan was home. You see we are doing a project in science and we’d like his help.” Connor said. Joe now understood the story they were going with, and knew, if asked to continue on with the lie for now. “I’m glad you two need my son’s intelligence to help you with a paper, but no, he isn’t home yet.” Ethan’s dad answered. Luckily, since Ethan’s dad had never heard of the pair, he was not aware that they didn’t actually need help. “Oh, well, we must have passed him somehow.” Connor said, “Goodbye for now.” The two boys turned around and started their way home, but didn’t actually go much farther. “Well, what now?” Joe said. “I know right, I'm afraid something terrible has happened.” Connor replied. “Well, we know he walks to school same as us, but he would definitely have to be taking a different trail.” Joe continued, “Let’s just assume that it would be the one that is the shortest distance.” “Oh, I know which one that is.” Connor said. “It would be… this way” Connor leads me through the forest of seemingly never ending trees. There was nothing unusual about the trail, everything that was expected. Except for one thing, on their journey, Joe notices a small abandoned wooden shack of the trail a little ways. The two decide to go investigate. Getting a closer look, the pair find themselves in a dilemma. “Who builds a barbed wire fence with no openings that encompasses the entire building?” Joe exclaimed. “Someone who really wants to protect the inside I guess.” Connor said. The two climbed over the fence miraculously unscathed. “Joe, explain to me how you can cut yourself on a knife so easily, but can climb a barbed wire fence.” Connor jested. “I truly amaze myself sometimes.” Joe replied. Both Connor sand Joe for now are jovial, but they both are scared on the inside. They both thought of the horrible things that could’ve happened to Ethan. They approach the front door of the small one-room hovel, and Joe pushes the door open. The scene that was before them, was the most horrific scene they had ever seen, real or fictional. This moment would drastically change their lives forever. In front of them Ethan is dead, on the ground below him is a small knocked over stool, his feet dangling, unable to touch the ground. His body has been hung by a noose, hand crafted out of barbed wire. “Oh my goodness!!!!!! He’s… he’s… dead!” Joe exclaimed horrified. The two, trying to avert their eyes, noticed the closet was opened, and in it was a spool of barbed wire. “He used the leftovers from the fence.” Connor said. “We can fix this… we can fix this.” Joe said. He moves over to Ethan in an attempt to heal him. The seconds drag on like minutes as nothing happens. “Here let me help.” Connor said. The two boys hold their hands out hoping to see the same golden glow of healing. “Why isn’t this working? I’ve healed a dead man before.” Joe said. “I don’t know.” Said Connor, “Maybe, we just can’t heal everyone.” When their inability to successfully use their powers becomes clear, the two call 911 as anyone else would do, they tell them the situation, and location. The police, ambulance, and Ethan’s parents arrive momentarily. A police officer comes over and questions them. “How did you boys find this?” He said. Connor recalled, “We noticed he wasn’t at school, nor at his house, we traced the steps between his house and school, and then we ended up here.” “Yes sir, that’s all we know. I swear.” Joe said “Why do you think he did this to himself?” The policeman continued his questioning. “We don’t know, we don’t want to know, we’ve just seen the dead body of one of our peers, all we want to do is rest.” Joe said. The policeman walks away, and the death is written as suicide. Connor and Joe were free to go home. “I'm not sure I can do this.” Joe said while on his way home. “What?” Connor asked. “These powers, and our deducing skills combined. Maybe, this is the universe trying to warn us of the emotional torment that this path we're on includes.” Joe said, “With the sights we’ve seen today, it’s enough to ruin someone’s life, so I think we should hold off on this detective work until this school year ends.” “Joe, I couldn’t agree more.” Connor said, “I don’t want this to lower my abilities in my normal life. No more powers until next summer agreed?” “Agreed.” Joe replied. The two separate from each other, when they get home, Ethan’s story is all over the news. “And the two hero kids that found him, Connor Runyan and Joe Kidd.” Said Zach Woomer, the anchor for the local news channel. “Yes, we sure are lucky they stepped in when they did.” Said Vivian Shanahan, the co-anchor. “Oh my goodness! Darling are you alright?” Joe’s mom asks as he enters. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. I just… need a nap.” Joe said The boys went to school the next day, and were treated like heroes, though neither of the felt to super. Both continued on with their agreement, and they stayed as normal human beings until that school year ended… THE END
