Fast and the Furious concept... After the disaster that was Supercharged was made, I was not only disappointed as a theme park fan but also as a fan of the films. They could have done so much with the series but instead they made the literal eyesore that we see today. The concept I was thinking they should have done instead is a dueling coaster, themed to drag racing with cars from the first few movies, especially since Dueling Dragons is now gone. Honestly, seeing the success the kid friendly Radiator Springs Racers has had at Disneyland, it would have been something completely new to Universal Studios - and timeless, like all theme park attractions should be. But instead we get all the ridiculousness from the later movies, like people holding onto helicopters and catching missiles while driving a tank on a frozen lake. I’ve talked to several other F&F fans and I still have not met a single one that likes Supercharged. I think this would be a great way to start over again and give the fans of the Fast franchise something to really enjoy. https://www.instagram.com/p/CPg-r77B5Rp/?utm_medium=tumblr

Shopping at Disney Springs VS Universal’s City Walk... I love them both for different reasons but I believe City Walk is better. Beginning with location, City Walk is not a separate shopping center away from the parks solely made for spending money. City Walk is connecting both Universal parks and serves as a great entrance to the theme parks. Disney Springs just feels like a fancy shopping center with a lot of stores that are not really themed to Disney in any way. Why is there a Harley Davidson store or a Cigar shop in a Disney owned area? There are only a few Disney stores that are in Springs and a lot of random name brand stores that are not related at all. Universal doesn’t have any of that, at least not nearly as much as Springs does. Universal actually removed most of it and made it all themed to Universal for the most part. Just about everything there is uniquely Universal at this point, unlike Springs where it is basically 80% over priced shopping mall and 20% Disney. Which do you prefer? Does Springs need more Disney in it? What’s your favorite store? https://www.instagram.com/p/CPE4qfwhy9L/?utm_medium=tumblr

Desserts at Disney Springs VS Universals City Walk... Disney Springs has a lot of variety when it comes to food, but I definitely feel like they’re playing catch up when it comes to the unique desserts and drinks that Universal has had for years now. Everglazed is a great answer to Voodoo Doughnuts but it’s a few years too late, a lot more expensive than Voodoo is, and doesn’t have nearly as much variety. Toothsomes is amazing, dessert wise at least, and it has two places to compete with at Springs. Sprinkles, which is one of the blandest cupcakes I’ve ever had, and the Ganachery, which is again even more expensive than Toothsomes, doesn’t taste as good, in my experience. But, where Springs really shines is Gideon’s, Universal doesn’t really have anything that compares to Gideon’s. Gideon’s is expensive like the rest but they are easily the best cookies I’ve had in my life. I sometimes go to Springs just for Gideon’s, Everglazed is good too but Gideon’s is easily the best and they are definitely worth the hype that surrounds them. Which restaurant is your favorite? What is your favorite item from there? (at Orlando, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CO6cPYlBYn8/?igshid=dx45z87iyp68

Jurassic World: Velocicoaster... When I first heard about a new ride in the Jurassic Park area, I was unsure about them removing some of the trees, taking away from the beautiful discovery center, and possibly messing up the whole skyline of IOA. But, they not only built it perfectly along the front of the building, they also seamlessly integrated the queue and gift shop into the facade. The queue is fully immersive and has amazing animatronics of the raptors that move and shake their cages. They put so much attention into the details that if you are close enough you can literally feel them breathing on you. The lockers are innovative as well. They put them near the end of the queue, so you can still take pictures and have your stuff. Also they made it to where you put stuff in on one side and get it out on the other after the ride. It’s simple but effective and I’m not sure why it hasn’t been done before. Even after you put your stuff away they were smart enough to put the pre-show, safety spiel AFTER the lockers so you have nothing else to do but pay attention and get immersed into the experience. Now, regarding the ride, it is the smoothest, fastest, and most beautiful coaster I have ever been on! It has not only made it to my top 3 rides of all time but it has kicked Hagrid's out of my top 10. Why they took out the one-of-a-kind Dueling Dragons for Hagrid's, just to put a superior ride in the land right next to it 2 years later, is beyond me - but that's another discussion all together. Exhilarating from start to finish, this ride is a non-stop, with no air-brake run. With no safety harness pushing down onto you, you are more comfortable. You can look around and see everything, and you're not constantly hitting your head against the headrest or having your view blocked. I 100% felt safe the entire time, and somehow they made it seem like you weren't upside down, even when you clearly were at times! It is what every roller coaster should be and is easily the best one in Orlando. Entrances to the parks... I am not sure why but every Disney area seems to be overly spread out when there could be garages and a simplified way of getting into the parks. You need a tram for almost all of them, unless you feel like walking a mile and maybe losing your car because you can’t remember where you parked. Meanwhile, Universal has 2 garages connected by a hub, all enclosed and covered, which helps with the Florida weather. Also the garages have themed sections with music playing so, even if you don’t take a picture of where you parked, with the memorable characters and colors you will probably remember based on the song you heard while exiting your car. And, let's not forget the iconic moving walkways to and from City Walk! At Disney, being on a black top parking lot with no music, and hard to find signs for each section, is ridiculous. At Magic Kingdom, there's a 30 minute wait for a monorail or a ferryboat to take you to and from the park, which is kinda cool but still a ridiculous distance from the park. At Disney Springs they did finally make a garage but they over complicated the system by making only one exit to the ground level and it isn’t as clearly marked as it is at Universal. There is one clear winner here, and as iconic as the Monorail is, Universal crushes the Disney parks in just about every way. What do you think? Is it a huge hassle to get in and out of Disney? Is Universal not as great as I make it seem? https://www.instagram.com/p/COVvVoABpzz/?igshid=o3b5arqwtrw3

Kong vs F&F: Supercharged... I am not a huge fan of either of these rides, but I do believe one is superior in every way possible. Not only is Kong a timeless attraction, it has an actual coherent story, unlike F&F which is a terrible CGI mess where I don’t even care what is happening. The queue and facade of Kong are beautiful and never get old, meanwhile Supercharged is just some waste of space warehouse/garage thing. To be fair, The Fast queue does have some cool cars and Easter eggs of past rides, including the ones it replaced, but besides that, it literally has nothing else to offer. The scenes with the TMs talking to screens are SUPER cringeworthy; meanwhile, at Kong, they have an amazing queue with some TMs actually hiding in the walls as 'jump scares.' Both have similar ride systems, but Kong has a great storyline that makes sense and isn’t just some “party bus” going 100 MPH down the freeway. At the end of Kong, there's the amazing Kong animatronic which is easily the highlight of the attraction. Supercharged, though, literally can't compete, unless you want count the life-like model of Vin Diesel in the shop after the ride - but that's a stretch. One huge thing about new rides being created is what they replace, specifically the notion: will we get something better! Supercharged replaced a classic Beetlejuice show, AND Disaster - a classic ride that was always worth seeing. Kong, on the other hand, didn't replace anything. It used an empty space near Jurassic Park, blending the two franchise's decor together perfectly. So, in the end, Kong easily wins this ride battle, but what do you think? Kong or Supercharged? Why do you like one more than the other? (at Universal Studios Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/COF7Vm5BPRe/?igshid=9ur3ce5ffryk

The Mummy vs Gringotts... sharing the same ride system, these two are very similar attractions but I strongly believe that the Mummy is the superior ride. Gringotts does by far have the better facade and queue, it may possibly be the best one in any theme park considering it looks like you are actually in the movie. The Mummy queue is great but it doesn’t even compare to Gringotts immersion and level of detail. While Gringotts does have 3D technology it honestly isn’t necessary and should be replaced with more thrills in its place. Both Mummy and Gringotts are revolutionary in their own respect, and while it is debatable which is better I am definitely on the Mummy team - which is weird because I am a bigger fan of the Wizarding World! The Mummy ride is faster, has more exciting twists and turns, and is all-around more of an exhilarating experience. What do you think? Which is the better ride, Mummy or Gringotts? Godzilla vs Kong... This was the first "monster movie" I’d ever seen, even though I've always liked the monsters themselves - especially Kong. Over the years, I had kind of written off monster movies as ridiculous and over the top (like the Fast and the Furious franchise). Going into the movie, knowing it was going to be ridiculous, it ended up being even more over the top than I expected - and I loved every second of it! The visuals were absolutely beautiful, even with all of the CGI. The concepts within the movie were also extremely exaggerated, but they were so well done it didn’t even matter. I didn't really think I would care about the human characters, or the story for that matter, but I actually loved some of them just as much as the monsters. I’m not sure about the other movies in this franchise yet, so I obviously can’t recommend those, but I would definitely recommend this, even just as a fun, casual watch. All in all, it was a great introduction to the genre for me and I can’t wait to watch more! https://www.instagram.com/p/CNgOO-FB8wf/?igshid=19yd0538q7vzr

Jurassic Park River Adventure Renovation… With little to no changes made to it even to this day, this is one of the opening day Islands of Adventure attractions that is still amazing. River Adventure is one of my favorite boat rides in any theme park but the animatronics really need to be updated, or at least all move again! Instead of fixing one of the massive dinosaurs near the beginning of the ride they recently just removed it and haven’t brought it back. If Universal is going to get rid of some of the dinosaurs then why not remove them all and re-theme the entire ride to Jurassic World like they did in the Hollywood park. Personally, I would rather keep the original Jurassic Park theming, but if they can’t support the upkeep of the animatronics, even with annual maintenance, then they might as well just use the screens like the rest of the attractions Universal has created in the last decade. What do you think? Want them to fix the animatronics? Should they make it over with Jurassic World? E.T. Adventure Renovation: I love this attraction and I'm thankful it’s still around, considering all of the other legendary opening day attractions have been replaced; but, E.T. needs some updates. Not just with the animatronics but maybe even some of the story points. I still love going on the current version but the ending is all over the place with hundreds of E.T.'s doing different things, they're very slow and some don’t even move anymore. The part of the ride that's based on the film is perfect with the beautiful model sets, lights, and effects, but I feel like that all drops off a bit once you’re past E.T.'s family and it’s just a bunch of weird aliens dancing around and singing. Overall, I think the entire attraction should fit the original film's tone and use its score. I’m not sure what I'd replace the second half of the ride with but I just know it could be better. What do you think? Does it need a new ending? Just some new animatronics? Tear the whole thing down with the rest of kid zone? Men in Black Alien Attack: I love this ride! I love the films, too. MiB is easily in my top 5 rides of all time but it REALLY needs to be updated. Some of the guns don’t shoot straight, some don’t even shoot at all! With a refurbishment they could maybe add in some new aliens, possibly even from the new MiB International movie if they wanted. I wouldn’t change too much but adding in some small additions, along with working guns, would really help this ride live up to its potential, and be “the best of the best.” (at Universal Studios Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMqIJywBtCy/?igshid=goszvnupgp1r

Dumbo the Flying Elephant... capturing the most iconic scene from the film where Dumbo flies in the circus, this ride is short but sweet. It is a simple spinning ride that could be found at any county fair but it fits very well into Fantasyland and gives Dumbo the recognition he deserves in the parks. I have only been on this once, and it obviously wasn’t the best ride I’ve been on but with fireworks going off overhead and you’re raised all the way to the top it can have an amazing view. I am not sure why we needed a bunch of duplicates of this extremely simple ride system throughout the resort but there are a few and Dumbo and the Astro Orbiters are really the only ones worth experiencing. This is a Disney classic, and a must do at least once while at Disney World. (at Fantasyland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMX5Q-hBdxk/?igshid=po9i7caqfcg6

It’s A Small World... it is the epitome of a Disney Classic ride. But does that make it a good attraction? No, no it does not. Especially ours in Florida never being updated or upgraded in any way. Leaving just a recreation of the Worlds Fair attraction with its creepy dolls based on each country and a 10+ minute sing along that will surely ruin the rest of the day at the park when it gets stuck in your head. I am glad that Walt Disney said that the parks are never finished because I am waiting for the day that this ride is replaced or at least upgraded with the movie characters like Disneyland’s. How the re make in Florida hasn’t been upgraded but the original from the Worlds Fair in California was upgraded, I’m not sure, that makes no sense at all. Either way I think they’re both not worth riding more than once and should be replaced. What do you think? Is this ride untouchable? Is it a must ride and a classic? The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh... another Disney World ride in Fantasyland that is a retelling of the story that has already been a film, and in this case a book too. Unlike Peter Pan though, Winnie the Pooh does not have a huge wait every day and has a much better dark ride system. With a cart shaped like a honey pot that bounces along with the story at some points and no huge objects blocking half of your view this is a much more enjoyable experience. With great Easter eggs, amazing lighting and special effects, including a really well done peppers ghost effect which shows Pooh bear falling asleep and drifting up into the sky, just as he did in the film. The queue also has interactive elements to mess with while you wait if you do end up waiting a little bit, which is always a nice touch at the parks. This attraction is better than Peter Pan in just about every way and I believe it deserves more recognition, it seems like the hidden gem of Fantasyland. What do you think of this attraction? Is it underrated? Does it need to be replaced? (at Fantasyland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLzcdcaBDZ7/?igshid=5apjl6utvqe4

Peter Pans Flight... I know this is a classic Disney ride, but I think it is one of the most over rated rides in any theme park. With the queue being usually over an hour, this attraction really isn’t anything special. None of the effects are very good and it really doesn’t have anything unique enough about it to have the cult following that it has. It is a lesser version of the ET ride at Universal in my opinion, a dark ride with scale models and sets where you float along through the story in your ride vehicle. ET has an original story that is kind of a sequel to his movie while this one is a retelling of the Peter Pan movie. I like the film and I agree that it is a classic, it does does a much better job at telling the story than this ride does, I’d rather skip the line and watch the movie at home. The ships you are in are comfortable and an amazing, unique concept but the sail in front of you really blocks your view, unlike the bikes on ET. This one does have an Ariel Easter egg in it, which is fun to see if you’re on the right side of the ship but I still don’t get why this is such a classic and a must ride for most Disney park fans. If it has a short wait time I’d say you should experience this attraction at least once but I would never wait in the usually hour long wait time. What do you think of this one? Is it a classic? Is it worth the wait? Let me know in the comments below. (at Fantasyland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLgz39HhiTy/?igshid=audh71zhjbfe

Poseidon’s Fury... a very underrated walk through attraction at Islands of Adventure, which has some unique and revolutionary effects, especially for when it was opened with the park back in 1999. It is only open on weekends now during the pandemic but it used to be a walk on every time with little to no wait when it was open everyday and it was always fun to see. Following an explorer through the ancient ruins with some hilarious jokes along the way, including some at Disney’s expense, ending with a huge final battle between Poseidon and Darkenon which has them shooting fire and water at each other and all around the audience. Of course this is where the water tunnel you can walk through is, which is still such a beautiful effect that is under utilized throughout the parks. I personally love this attraction, even though I think there are probably some better stories that could fit this type of walk through attraction like a Legend of Zelda or Ministry of Magic attraction. A Day in the Park with Barney... after 25 years of running the great kids show that showcased Barney and his friend singing their iconic songs has closed forever. This was my favorite show as a kid and I would even re visit it many times as an adult just for the nostalgia alone. There are certain scents that bring you back to your childhood that you just can’t describe but you love, and Barney and it’s pre show queue had one of those for me. With a small room with a big stage taking up most of it and these larger than life characters dancing on the stage, inflatables and elements falling from the skies fitting the seasons outside it really was a spectacle for kids and I hope whatever replaces it is as fun as this show was for me growing up.
