Also I should mention that I was married at 19, had a baby at 23, and got my Masters at 24. My life experienced better matched people I knew in their late 20’s than it did my fellow early-20’s-year-olds.

But yeee this was a fun one, a bit more of a challenge with the shapes an drawing from the ref, but good practice all around. I think I especially like how the colors came out on this one as well. I've only done Brittle Hollow twice, but both times I've done it with the warmer palettes lol. Hope this works !!

Heterosexual relationship culture is so alien to me and I don’t know if it’s the fact I’m not cishet or the fact I’m autistic but I hear so many things that make me go “Am I insane or are they?”

There’s a lot of hate on widowers and I saw a woman say “You cannot compete with a dead woman.” which is perhaps a reasonable statement to say if he’s constantly comparing you to his dead partner but that wasn’t what the post was about. And I realized “Oh my God, these people genuinely feel like they’re constantly in competition with their spouse’s exes and the ex being dead makes them feel insecure that they cannot best her.”

There’s also been an uptick in the ‘men and women cannot be ‘just’ friends’ rhetoric which I feel like is extremely dangerous and reflects the rise of fascism and sexism. Some of these stories of women feeling threatened by their husband’s female best friend have some merit and others are like “I feel angry that my husband still talks to the girl he grew up next door to and she and her wife are invited to family gatherings and included in family photos sometimes. Am I right to be suspicious?” No. No you’re not. I cannot imagine being you and living with that high level of stress and paranoia and constant torment and jealousy about your husband having a positive relationship with anyone who isn’t you.

Way back in my early days of Tumblr I made a friend on here from Kuwait. He was lovely and chatty and we were good buddies for years. Eventually he had a chance to visit and I was so excited to meet in person after years of texting.

I was living with Betty at the time and she and her boyfriend heard he was from the Middle East and started making jokes about whether he'd know what a toilet was. I was unamused and informed them that the Kuwaiti dinar had three times the weight of a US dollar which quickly silenced them.

Betty was further shocked when he arrived and asked why we didn't have a bidet. "Every room in my house has one, you guys just wipe with dry paper all the time? Doesn't it hurt?"

"I guess we get used to it," I replied.

"Is that why Americans have the phrase 'hard ass'? Because your assholes get so calloused?"

I absolutely lost it and didn't realize he wasn't making a joke. The question stuck with me for years causing aftershocks of laughter whenever it popped into my head.

But today I was delighted to inform him that my wife and I are finally civilized and have a bidet at home.

Shopping for laptops fucking sucks ‘cause I don’t know shit about computers. I’ve never had a computer with a functional webcam or microphone or the ability to play computer games made later than 2005 or a speaker that could play anything loud enough to hear from more than a foot away. How the hell should I know what I want?!
