Corporate Communications Sri Lanka 2021 – How To Win It In 2021
Tumblr media
Creating business value in today’s corporate world needs to take in all intangibles, due demands and expectations of “business critical” communications. To win it – from conceptualization to publication – We must try to understand a structured process of social and reputation management across all channels. Be it your website, blogs, tweets, emails, what you communicate represent your business to the world and is the cornerstone of your corporate strategy.
For those who have a vision to win the future corporate communications Sri Lanka 2021, it is a tough challenge – but also a great opportunity to integrate new ways of making better decisions. But the reality of winning the future is not matching demands; instead it is about creating greater visibility across all platforms and removing unwanted clutter – which seems to dominate today’s communications.
So… what is needed to win the future? What new tools are needed to penetrate the tough hides of clients, customers, investors and other stake holders? What new accessories should are need to join the fight for market share? This article aims to tackle them all…
Throw Away the “Current Strategy” if…
What is the predictive model that guides your current strategy in communication?
What is the ROI on your last financial calendar year on communication?
How has your communication driven your business value over the last 3 years?
If you are a CCO or a communication officer, and do not have a definite answer to either of the above three questions, then fear not – you are in the majority. 80% of reputation leaders across 300+ global companies agreed they are not ready to deliver on the promise of expectations. This is a staggering number. What have you done to circumvent the problem? If your answer is to “invest more” on future communications, then it is time to throw out your current communication strategy… and keep reading this article to the very end.
Fundamental Reason why Reputation Leaders Fail in Sri Lanka
They don’t have a strategized structured process – to analyze the past, to measure the present and to look beyond to the future.
A structured process enable to influence, and guide communications of large businesses when integrated within the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). These same business –making  communication departments work with other departments while strengthening the core strategic areas of the company (instead of putting them in an island).  Reputation management is the bridge that communicates your business strategy. Through reputation building your business becomes relevant to EVERYONE! From CEO to the executives that gather in the lunch room to share their lunch packet. Your reputation markets the belief of your businesses future potential.
Without a structured process, you can bet your sales force to lag for not having the latest proof points to handle customers. Without a structured process you can bet your investors to leave the next conference call with more doubts than beliefs… Worst of all, without a structured process you can bet your employees/associates to have a vague future about making a career with your company.
Damage Control and Specific Steps to Move Forward
While in no specific ways I will try to portray myself as a consultant or a strategist in the area of corporate communications, I will sit this part out and have internationally acclaimed communications strategist Kasper Ulf Nielsen explain it…
“To move a business/company forward the CCO needs to take control of the process and define the answers to business questions like following”:
1. What is the direct business impact of a good or bad reputation?
2. How does our stakeholder ecosystem work and what impacts do each of them have on the business?
3. What is our reputation strategy?
4. How are we implementing the strategy into the business?
5. Where are we investing money on communications and why?
So the question to ask yourself is – am I working on these answers or do I have them already? And if you do then you are among the 20%* who are ready to win in the reputation economy
*Results are from Reputation Institute “Annual Reputation Leaders Study, 2018.”
Winning the FUTURE
The best way to predict the future is to invent it – Alan Kay.
That does not mean you need to start laboring away inventing a corporate communication model right this moment. Instead, I rounded up nine internationally acclaimed marketing gurus to prophesize the winning marketing strategy of the future. While each of the nine quotes is a great way to get started in the right direction, the next contemplation is to HOW to present it to your stakeholders – What is the MOST EFFECTIVE medium? What is the BEST mode of delivering a positive ROI? What is the MOST ENGAGING tool that can go social media viral? And most importantly in less time with fewer resources?
VIDEO
WHY? Because video has a story telling power to narrate a company from its inception to current status and to narrate its future possibilities. Video is everywhere you turn on your PC. From adorable kittens to drunken men trying to break-dance –not hitting the play button has become painfully irresistible to everyone on social media. A video can bring your business to life with a “creation story” on how your company began; it can include characters your audience will root for. It can infuse a personality to a story (and while not giving too much away) your audience will look forward to seeing much more of your business again… and again.

10 Predictions For Video Marketing Sri Lanka in 2020
Tumblr media
2019 was a huge year for video marketing. Instagram was really able to make a statement with interactive video. Most global brands took notice of this and Instagram video sharing reached new heights in 2019. Online videos had the highest conversion rates than any other medium that led to more positive ROI. Brands trusted videos across the globe.
Much of this was also true for marketers who embraced video marketing in Sri Lanka. While it was the entertainment sector that cashed in on the success, large Sri Lankan businesses were not able to make great strides. While most businesses continued to ignore video (at their own peril), many understood the importance of it. If you are not sure how to get started with creating online videos, check this article on how to work with a video marketer in Sri Lanka.
By the looks of it Sri Lankan businesses (and business owners) are bound to accelerate their attention towards profiting from online videos in 2020. So here are 10 predictions of Video Marketing Sri Lanka, which I am willing to bet half my life savings that will occur in 2020 (and beyond).
Tumblr media
1. The relationship between video and search will grow even tighter.
Video and SEO already are working together. In fact more and more video searches now appear as the number one search results on Google. Search engines will put even more emphasis on video when it comes to organic ranking. I predict that Google will put out an algorithm update specifically for videos in 2021.
2. Email will more easily integrate video content.
Simply by including the word “video” on any email will increase open rates. But unfortunately many marketers fall in to the trap of not knowing “how” to natively embed videos on the email itself. Instead what they offer are external links to watch videos. I predict many email providers (gmail, yahoo, outlook, etc) will come up with functions of “auto playing” videos on the email itself.
3. Live videos, will continue growing.
What snapchat began in 2018, Instagram and facebook ended in style in 2019. The ability to launch a story (or a series of stories) via video became so popular even youtube came up with their own live video versions. This trend will become so popular, that I am predicting more and more platforms will adopt it. In fact out of all the competitors an unexpected platform (hint: Instagram) will jump up and come up with a unique way of taking “live” videos to the next level.
4. Video marketing budgets will increase.
This is hardly a surprise or let alone a prediction. Worldwide brands are increasing their video budgets. Sri Lanka will follow suit. But that is true to corporate level brands and businesses with big budgets. My prediction is that a lone wolf or a website will come up with an affordable platform that will make creating marketing videos more affordable (leaving out the big budgets). This will obviously make medium to small businesses to spend on video marketing.
Tumblr media
5. More internal videos will be created.
Be it training or an inter-departmental communications, video will start to dominate the corporate culture in Sri Lanka. Brands such as apple, Starbucks, Walmart are already heavily invested in video for internal communications and training. I predict that local corporations will start having training sessions for managers and leaders to create their own videos, and it will take a very positive attitude.
6. Clickable Videos – The Next Big Thing to hit in 2020.
Imagine a video which is clickable (tappable) that could lead us to a buying decision? Or a clickable video where we can search within the video for more information?  Instead of looking through product reviews, pictures, these videos will enable the shopper to buy products. This will be the next big thing to come out in 2020. I predict that these videos will come out of the testing phase.
7. Amazon videos will be the company to innovate clickable videos.
Amazon is the only retailer (in my opinion) daring to take this bold step (read above). While the testing phase will still be at an infantile operational level, this concept will change the e-retailer landscape… and I predict this to happen in 2021.
8. Long Videos will be a Failure in 2020.
Short videos will continue dominate, but that wont stop social media platforms testing “how to make long videos work in 2020”. The result? An utter failure across all channels and across all platforms. The bitter truth will be that people will have less time and less attention spans. I predict this epic failure to occur in 2020.
9. Medium to small businesses will rely on entertainers to market brands.
The most significant sector that cashed in on the success of online video were the entertainers (not musicians) in Sri Lanka. Channels like wasthi prodctions, Lakai Sikai, Lochi, block & dino to became irresistible on all social platforms that supported video. With hundreds of thousands of followers, these entertainers already command a lot of attention. I predict more and more medium and small businesses will reach out to these guys for video marketing in 2020.
10. A large percentage will ignore video in 2020.
With new innovation, new technology and new ideas, the traditional side of Sri Lankan business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs will continue to ignore video marketing in 2020. The majority of them will read about it, some will hear about it and all will know about it – but I predict a major part of Sri Lanka will ignore the power of online video marketing in 2020.
Let us wait and see how my predictions pan out… If you are new to video marketing in Sri Lanka check out my Learning Center for more information on the topic.

Video Marketing Sri Lanka – This is Where We Come In
Tumblr media
Are you a business owner, an entrepreneur, a marketer, or simply someone with an idea who want to connect with your Sri Lankan audience? Have you tried different ways of doing this but have come up short? This is where we come in…
First and foremost we DO NOT decorate ourselves with self-awarded titles such as industry experts, professionals or consultants. We neither guarantee revenue or success. Instead we like to think of ourselves as visual thinkers focused on helping businesses owners, entrepreneurs, and marketers in Sri Lanka. What we do is simply incorporate a marketing model that includes Video. Video Marketing Sri Lanka is a narrative we have been focused from the very inception of our company from 2014.
We help you with fresh new marketing ideas that convey concrete, powerful, and memorable experiences for your audience. We want to create positive trends, ignite the right conversation for your business or your brand. And we accomplish this without explosive budgets, huge crews, and without complex processes. The best part of why we accomplish this to our clients, is because we communicate with the number one electronic medium available to bring the BEST results possible: Video.
Companies who have worked with us, have recommended us to others. That is how we were able to build The Visual Cube from ground up to where we are today. Our clients come to us with an idea, a concept or a story that needs to be adapted for video. We look at all possible scenarios and the resources available for us (and the client) to determine if we can deliver. Only then we move forward…
No matter what your idea, concept, or your story, our initial consolation is free, so there is no risk to you. We offer ALL possibilities based on your budget and we determine what we can offer. This is what separates us from the big name agencies and studios. We can help you communicate a simple concept and create lasting impressions with less time, fewer resources, and most importantly… at an affordable price.
Simply put… If you (and your business) want to become a desired part of the Sri Lankan online culture –WE CAN HELP YOU! We can make your business/brand/idea be found (on the internet) by your target audience on the most effective medium that will bring the best results – VIDEO
VIDEO is the future of ALL communications, and if you have NOT incorporated it as part of your business communications, then you are already at a significant disadvantage.
youtube
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH US? First we take the role of a teacher, in educating you with your primary need – be it just a onetime single video, a video campaign, social media, website makeovers, blogging, etc. If we see that you are still practicing and adhering to traditionalist ideas (that no longer work) it will be one of the first aspects we will bring to your notice.
We will try to understand your subjective expectation of promoting your brand or defining your brand (for startups), while working together in formulating a concept. As a video marking team we try to achieve the benefits and values of (1) voice and (2) culture – to create lasting “socially buzzworthy” impressions through our work for your business/brand.
Next we will put my creative talents to work, while feeding off from your valuable input. We more than happy to do multiple edits – from script to completion. You can expect to be informed of every detail, edits and changes. Masterpieces are never done in a bubble and never in a mad rush to accomplish everything in little time.
What is the point of publishing great visual content if no one can find it? We make the content we create found by those who seek it – Your customers and clients are looking for the services and products you offer. Even after the SEO period you can still contact us in realizing your objective realities (revenue goals, business milestones, opinions, etc). We take sheer pleasure in sharing success stories, especially when we know we were involved in them.

Video Marketing Sri Lanka – Why it is NOT for EVERY Business
Tumblr media
Three questions I “always” get asked from clients who first inquire about doing a video:
(1)   Will video work for my business?
(2)   How much will it cost?
(3)  Will it bring me more sales?
With much enthusiast, I left my former employer to start The Visual Cube. Like every novice who ventured in to a startup, I thought “I knew it all”, and “I had figure out the market”. I believed that video marketing was the next big thing and though video was for EVERYONE.
Back then (in 2015) my video marketing campaign was haphazard at best – I just made a video, slapped it on youtube and thought it would ignite the right conversation(s) that could help me shake up my startup status.
Fast forward three years since… I was still struggling.
As I started to work with a diverse clientele and creating videos for different niches, it became apparent that “video DID NOT WORK for every business in generating results”. Some businesses and brands were “built for video” because of their audience. Because of that those businesses/brands enjoyed more success with video marketing than others did. Same applied to video marketing sri lanka.
My first real dip in to making videos was through fiverr… where people came to me to create brand marketing videos primarily through using stock video footage. Back then I created 60-80 second videos for as low as $50. I always kept a close rapport with the buyers, and came to know that some buyers enjoyed more success than others with their videos. I realized that these buyers were in niches/businesses that video marketing was ideally suited.
Click Here to see my fiverr profile.
Let’s examine a few niches/business types that enjoyed more success with video:
- Musicians
- Apps/Software Developers
- Gamers
- Motivational Coaches
- Wealth/success Coaches
- Digital Products
- Bloggers
- Weight Loss Programs
- Fitness Instructors
- Digital Course Owners/Instructors
- Entertainment Providers
- Real Estate Agents
- News and media Organizations
What is the one (and most important) attribute all the above businesses have in common?
Their customers/clients/followers “search” them online and prefer to be informed by online video than any other medium.
Let’s be realistic – unless your audience is searching for your business on Google (or on youtube), your videos will do very little for your business. This is the cold hard truth about why video will not make the kind of impact the above business list are enjoying.
Even if you do have videos with an agreeable amount of views and engagement, and you still find no lead generations, there could be an entirely different problem.
First you must understand that marketing videos for a business, organization or a personality is different from a viral video. That don’t mean a marketing video can never become a viral video, but sure as heck the vice versa is not true. A viral video is often composed with intent to become popular through sharing on social media. Viral videos are aimed at Entertainment, while some viral videos evoke strong feelings of hilarity, anger, sadness, rejuvenation and determination. The end result of a viral video is what gives the title “viral” as viewers engage the video (like, comment and share) and cause a chain reaction.
Unlike the viral video audience, those who seek information about your business take an active interest in watching your videos to inform, and educate themselves about your products and services. The video will lead them to take action (eg: visit your website, lead to download an e-book, link to more videos of your business). So ask this question – would you rather prefer a video with a ton of engagement or a video with a few engagement that drive traffic to your website that increase your sales?
So before heading to the drawing board to begin your video strategy consider the below pointers to maximize what your videos can do for you and your business:
Know the 3 Fundamentals:
The purpose of any marketing video is to (1) Entertain (2) Educate and (3) Inspire.
Find the MOJO that will “wow” your audience.
As a business owner you know your clients and customers BEST! Think how your services and products can benefit them, and figure out how to present a compelling story.
Figure out what is the BEST video type for your business.
Remember you are not doing television commercials. So try not to look like one and sound like one. Online videos can become your 24/7 sales force, so choose from 6 unique ways to use videos for selling as you think fits best.
Brevity is GOLD!
Use your video(s) to tell a compelling story and not a prolong story. Everyone likes when you get to the point quickly, so are video audiences.
Get creative with titles by inserting keywords.
A great video has no value if people can’t find it. If you are a plumber in Fresno California, then use the keyword Plumber Fresno in your video titles because those who require your services would search the internet using phrases that contain Plumber Fresno.
Have a strong sign-off and a call to action.
Don’t end your videos abruptly – if so your viewer may very well be directed to your competitors’ videos. Direct them to another video that may have additional information about your business or have a strong call to action (eg: special offer, free download, etc) that will direct traffic to your website.
Plan a multi-faceted video marketing campaign.
If your business is already using facebook, twitter, Google +1, twitter, Instagram, then keep your followers posted regularly. A onetime standalone video is not a video marketing strategy. Once you start an engaging video series, your viewers will look forward for your next videos. Take a look at video marketing statistics from 2018.
Fine Tune the Small Stuff.
As you keep doing more and more videos, plan to improve on your production quality. Improve your lighting, audio, special effects, call to actions. Every new video should be an improvement over the last video. Learn more on getting the right set up and the right equipment.
Remember… doing a good video for any business will never hurt or detract in value. A video is a multi faceted tool that you can use in your own web site, social media, e-mail campaigns, and press releases. Video is now the preferred way for your customers and clients to inform in 2018. A video is now more important than adding a shopping cart to your website. So start Igniting your video marketing 2020 campaign NOW!

Youtube Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 – 10 Ways to Grow Your Channel
Tumblr media
There is no denying it: You have heard it. You have read it and you know it. Video was the best and the most effective medium global brands used in their marketing campaigns in 2019. Although popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram and twitter saw meteoric rise in 2019, YouTube remains the giant, and the leader when it comes to video marketing. While the world spent millions of hours watching YouTube every day, YouTube also drew in a lot of activity in the popularity of personal channels.
Business owners, entrepreneurs, entertainers, news channels, local brands and just about anyone with an idea used YouTube as an effective medium to communicate to their audiences. If you already have a YouTube channel or planning on starting one, here are ten ways to grow your channel for your YouTube Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 campaign.
1. Build Videos Around a Single Keyword Phrase.
This is the BEST way to build traffic to your channel. So before you get started think about what keyword phrase you want people to find your videos/channel. If you are an entertainer, or a coach you may want to give your videos different titles, but include your keyword phrase on your titles. For an example if your channel is about Sri Lanka cricket, and you want people to find you using those keywords then use it on your video titles. Also make sure the videos you upload have to be about Sri Lanka cricket. If you take the top TV channel YouTube videos they always mention the channel name with the video title when publishing on YouTube.
Tumblr media
2. Entertainment, Education, Inspiration.
The effectiveness of your YouTube Channel will depend on the percentage of viewers watching your videos till completion. If your viewers are turned off by your content then they are not going to hand around till the end. The success of your videos relies on three things: Entertainment, Education and Inspiration. If your videos don’t deliver any of the above three traits, that means you need to start planning on how to make your future videos engaging.
3. Naming Playlists
YouTube playlists gives your channel to nestle videos that are similar to one another in a long list. So… if your channel is about Sri Lanka cricket, and you have videos relating to batting and bowling, then create unique playlists. So your playlists could be Sri Lanka cricket –batting or Sri Lanka cricket – bowling. You can always get creative with titles. YouTube audiences love videos that start with “Top 10” or “Top reasons”. So you can come up with a creative playlists such as Sri Lanka cricket – Top 10 performances. You can create videos that list top 10 catches, top 10 victories, top 10 batting performances or a radical video titles top 10 embarrassing losses. Your video titles can garner a ton of attention, so get creative.
4. Engage Your Audience
Quality social content always has its rewards. YouTube is a social network just like Facebook and YouTube rewards channels with great engagement – likes, dislikes, shares, overall time spent on channel, watch time, likes and dislikes, and most importantly, comments. So make it a point to ask users to comment on your videos or put out a text message (at the end of the video) and try to respond to every comment you receive and end it with a question (so they will respond back). This is a key point in building awareness to your channel.
5. Get Your Channel Branded
Remember everything that is communicated over the internet has a value (or not). If your intent is to entertain, educate and inspire, then what you communicate has value. Turn that value to a brand… yes I am talking about branding your YouTube channel. If your have rich, engaging and valuable content it is important to brand it visually. That means to give striking cover images, bios, video thumbnails, custom URLs (links back to your website for further inquiries), promotions, etc. If great content is generated, your audience will have a natural curiosity to find the source of their inspiration, entertainment or education. Do not deny them this.
6. Promote Your YouTube Channel on Other Social Platforms
The beauty of social media is that you can cross-promote content. The easiest way to build your audience during the initial stages is to promote your YouTube channel on social channels like Facebook, LinkedIn, , and Pinterest. Twitter and Instagram is another option but it does not allow any video imbeds – meaning you can only provide links to your videos that needs to be clicked. Twitter and Instagram followers rarely click links that take them away from their preferred site. To counter this problem, plan on making 60- second video intros, and create curiosity. Link them back to your YouTube channels for further inquiry.
Tumblr media
7. Personalize Your Channel
A touch of personal branding works wonders in any medium of communication. In fact it is a “must have” on any visual communications, you plan on doing in 2020. Putting your face in front of the camera has reaped great results for bloggers, vloggers, fitness, success and life coaches, entrepreneurs or anyone with an ideology who wants to connect with his or her base. This does not mean that “every” video needs to see your beautiful face, but every video should have a personalized message from you. Even if you don’t want to appear in front of a camera, you should at least try to put an image of your face either on your videos or on your cover image. This build trust, and helps to create feelings.
8. Personalized Thumbnails
DO NOT rely on the automated thumbnails generated by you tube. You MUST create your own. Here is another place to put your face in your videos. You can also add in text to elaborate more on the content of your video. Again… you don’t have to do this on “every” video thumbnail, and a personalized thumbnail don’t mean you “must” put your image. Personalize the thumbnail to suit the video. Derrel Eves has a great YouTube channel that I personally follow. His videos are all about on how to become a successful YouTuber. I am sharing a few of his personalized thumbnails below just to give you an idea.
9. Uploading Frequency
Making just one video (or several) is not a strategy to build up a YouTube channel. I agree, committing to do more videos do sound intimidating at first, but to grow an audience, you must plan on doing at least a video a week. Consistency is of utmost importance to grow your channel, because once you build up an audience, they will expect to see more content. Creating more videos also suggest to YouTube that your channel is active and YouTube will give your videos more prominence over other videos that has similar content.
10. be Yourself – Originality Counts.
What works for others may not work for you. Trying to emulate others (of the same niche) is no guarantee of the success they enjoy. Be true to yourself. Be creative. Break barriers and have lofty expectations. Nothing is ever achieved without enthusiasm. As you keep making videos, keep your creativity open and look for new ways to improve your videos. YouTube is the BEST medium to communicate with video. In 2019, you should plan to make at least 10-12 videos for YouTube Marketing Sri Lanka 2019.
So there you go… Hope you find this article insightful and I hope it will help you build a successful YouTube community. Good luck – Vijith

Video Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 – What Can We Do For Your Business
Tumblr media
Proclaiming self-awarded titles such as “consultant”, “specialist”, “expert” or “strategist” is something many are adept when describing themselves. They also guarantee success, results, revenue through industry secrets, and proven formulas to struggling business owners. This type of self-glorification is commonplace in today’s internet based marketing landscape. As a business owner and a marketer you should be mindful as to not get “baited” to believing what everyone say over the internet.
First and foremost I am NOT a consultant or an industry expert. I neither guarantee revenue or success. I am a creative visual thinker focused on helping businesses owners, entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka who are struggling to realize the benefits of video marketing. What I do is simply incorporate a marketing model that includes Video.
Tumblr media

This mean I do the bulk of the work (with your approval) from start to finish. To make decision making easier for you I charge LKR 60,000 to do a basic 45-60 second. This video will include a 100 word script and a professional voice over (done by a professional local or foreign voice over artist). It also includes me bringing my equipment to film footage of the video. This can be at your local business, an agreed facility or an outdoor venue. It also includes the editing of the video, special effects as applicable.
WHAT CAN THE VISUAL CUBE DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS? Simply put… If you (and your business) want to become a desired part of the Sri Lankan online culture – I can help you. I can make your business/brand/idea be found (on the internet) by your target audience on the most effective medium that will bring the best results – VIDEO
No matter what your idea, product or service, I can help you communicate a simple concept and create lasting impressions with less time, fewer resources, and most importantly… at an affordable price.
VIDEO is the future of ALL communications, and if you have NOT incorporated it as part of your business communications, then you are already at a significant disadvantage.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH US? First I take the role of a teacher, in educating you with your primary need – single video, video campaign, social media, website makeovers, blogging, etc. If I see that you are still practicing and adhering to traditionalist ideas (that no longer work) it will be one of the first aspects I will bring to your notice.
I will try to understand your subjective expectation of promoting your brand or defining your brand (for startups), while working together in formulating a concept. As a video marketer I try to achieve the benefits and values of (1) voice and (2) culture – to create lasting “socially buzzworthy” impressions through my work for your business/brand.
Next I will put my creative talents to work, while feeding off from your valuable input. I am more than happy to do multiple edits – from script to completion. You can expect to be informed of every detail, edits and changes. Masterpieces are never done in a bubble and never in a mad rush to accomplish everything in so little time.
What is the point of publishing great visual content if no one can find it? I make the content I create found by those who seek it – Your customers and clients are looking for the services and products you offer. Even after the SEO period you can still contact me in realizing your objective realities (revenue goals, business milestones, opinions, etc) – as time permits me best. I take sheer pleasure in sharing success stories, especially when I know I was involved in them.
WANT TO CREATE YOUR OWN VIDEO? Our Learning Center it is filled with so much information about video marketing and how to create your own videos.

Brand Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 – 5 Ways How to Win it on Facebook
Tumblr media
Ever thought about budgeting for video ads for your business?
Not sure if you want to go with Facebook or YouTube?
What have you come up for brand marketing Sri Lanka 2020?
According to forbes.com views on branded video content increased 258% on Facebook and 99% on YouTube as of June 2017. These stats are no mistake, as Facebook has worked diligently to transform the social element (something YouTube has lacked since inception) in to the success of their videos.
What makes the statistic even more substantial is the fact that the first quarter of 2017 saw a 258% rise compared to the last quarter of 2016, and the second quarter of 2017 saw a rise of 311% compared to the first quarter of 2017.
In terms of analytics Facebook provides an irresistible metric of the user base engaging videos. This is something YouTube has yet to master. This unique feature means that Facebook is ripe to create opportunities to local business through sponsored content.
Need to calculate your ROI on video marketing? Click Here to use the metrics we use with our clients.
Brand marketing is not something new to Sri Lanka, but what a lot of marketers are struggling is to understand how to use brand marketing videos to their advantage. Given the prospects of how video advertising is primed to raise to meteoric proportions in 2020, this article will discuss exactly that! I am not going to discuss lengthy analytics to great detail (that part will follow next) instead I am going to tell how these 5 ways will let you win with facebook video advertising.
Brand Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 – 5 Ways How to Win it on Facebook
1. When to Upload a Video
This is vital and should be planned ahead if you do decide to advertise your video on Facebook. You do not want to advertise a video with no engagement (likes, comments, shares). So plan ahead to upload the video and have your followers engage it and give it time to accumulate views. If you advertise a video that was recently uploaded with no visible engagement, users who see this as an advertisement will take it less seriously.
2. When to Advertise the Uploaded Video
According to the Forbes report, the most views on sponsored video content on Facebook were generated in both December 2016 and March 2017. Each of these month total views reached closed 2.5 billion. The holiday season contributed to the increased views in December, while the higher number of views in March could likely be attributed to the NCAA match madness event. So… if you are a retailer knowing that your gift ideas are well fitted for the holiday season, plan to advertise in December, as people look for gift giving ideas. If you are a retailer dealing with sporting goods, then March seem to be the ideal month to advertise. Just like that, find out when the best time for your niche to engage facebook users with paid advertising.
Check out the below video marketing statistics from 2018…
Tumblr media
3. How to Get More Views
The most-watched videos by a facebook publisher were in the month of June (UK media company LADbible). It was able to create almost 2.8 billion total views on its own. The best part yet was they were able to make the viewer watch the video till completion on 85% of their videos for that month. That is a staggering achievement. What’s their secret? They were able to follow the3 Fundamentals of Video Marketing. And their videos usually did not exceed 20-30 seconds. Make your contents be beneficial for the viewer. Tell them how you can solve their problems, and significantly improve their lifestyle with what you do. If you are a small business learn how global brands are using video marketing that you can adopt with little investment of time, energy and money.
4. Popular Creator Type
Media companies performed better in terms of attracting audience views. 71% of the sponsored video content on facebook in the second quarter was generated from media companies. Since May of 2016, 75% of all sponsored video views came in from media brands. The best part about this sponsored content was the fact that the videos were bite sized chunks that were under 60 seconds. Instead of delivering traditional news segments, the videos were put together to entertain people on more recent current events.
If you are not working with a media company, or are looking for one, check out what our clients have to say about working with us. But… before taking a leap of faith This is what we promise in terms of what we can offer when you partner with us.
5. Most Popular Content Genres
While you (the video owner) has much invested to your video, understand that video marketing is NOT the same for every business type. It is obvious that facebook users are willing to invest watching sponsored that is entertaining. As a matter fact the entertainment value is the number one reason facebook fans watched sponsored video. Over 55% of views generated in the second quarter of 2017 were on entertainment-related content. The next was sports-based sponsored videos that accounted to 32% of the views. Thereafter the next three popular genres were:
(1) Food and drink
(2) People and blogs
(3) Music and dance
Now you have a fairly good grasp of how essentially a prime opportunity that awaits your business or brand by advertising on facebook. I wish you luck – Vijith

10 Ways Global Brands Adopt Video Marketing That Works for Small Businesses
Tumblr media
Every business, every brand and anyone who wants to connect with an online audience needs a video marketing strategy. Video remains the most effective medium to convert browsers to clients – This idea is not new. Everyone knows it. What has changed over the years is how important video marketing as an Omni Chanel tool.
It is not only another cog in your marketing strategy. It has become a central piece on all levels of communications. This is why global brands are scrambling and spending the big bucks on video marketing.
Video is much more than a social engagement tool. Video is a versatile tool for marketers, and sales people throughout the entire customer buying experience. Video analytics can help with calculating ROI, and to create new leads.
Video can become helpful for human resources as well. Onboarding videos, knowledge-based videos, company introduction videos, and employee stories are just a few ways that video can create a more thorough, personalized experience for any organization.
According to HubSpot Research, consumers and customers prefer lower quality, “authentic” video over high-quality video that seems artificial and “inauthentic”. Global brands have realized this and are churning out more “authentic” videos and are enjoying more success than ever before. So… What does this mean for startups and small business owners? Video is very much within your reach, and it does not require big budgets. Video is within reach of any business regardless of size.
So… Before you begin filming, you need to determine what kind of videos that can yield more results.
Here is a list of 10 Ways Global Brands Adopt Video Marketing That Works for Small Businesses.
1. Demo Videos
Demo videos show how your products work. It can be an instructional video, an unboxing video, or describing the unique qualities it has as against similar products on the market. If your business is a service, let your clients know, what is unique about what you do and how you can significantly make a process easier and elevate the lifestyles of those who work with you.
For an example, if you are a dentist and want to talk about the services you offer, do it in a way that benefits the patient. Talk about the options when it comes to straightening crooked teeth, and talk about the pricing of each option and how you could arrange payment plans if insurance does not cover them.
2. Brand Videos
Brand videos are typically advertising campaigns carried out with much success by global brands. It is meant to create awareness of an organization’s mission and vision. Brand videos also help create credibility and build trust with your consumers. While you may not be able to match the impact of what the global brands are doing, you as a small business owner can create videos that involve your community. It could be a charitable event, a fundraiser, taking part in a local event or better yet organizing a local event or sponsoring a local event. Remember those ice bucket challenge videos we saw back in 2014, where people dumped a bucket of ice and cold water over someone’s head? Most small businesses who did this challenge and put it on video said they got positive social vibes.
3. Event Videos
Event videos are different to the brand videos explained earlier. If your business is hosting a conference, a round table discussion, a fundraiser, or another type of event – Film it. Then produce highlight reels of the best moments, interesting interviews and presentations and make it available to your audience. This will surely build your credibility as a business, and give you enough material for future communications.
4. Expert Interviews
Many of the global brands are churning out videos interviewing the internal experts in their organizations. Every business has experts related to the field of that business. As small businesses and startups you may not have much of a staff to do this. Find a way to put an expert who knows about what you do in front of a camera and ask them to talk about how your business can help customers, the process of how you do business or simply talk about what they do as part of the business. If they are camera shy, do an interview style video. Even if you are a freelancer there is one subject you know best. So put yourself in front of a camera just like how I am doing right now. Capturing interviews with internal experts is a great way to build trust and authority with your target audience.
5. Testimonial Videos.
Your prospective clients and customers want to know how your product and services will solve a specific problem. This is in fact what most global brands marketing strategies are based on. Take any product or a service. One of the BEST ways to prove this is to feature your most loyal and satisfied customers. Make them the champions of your cheer team. Let them tell the world how fantastic it was doing business with you and let them tell how you solved a problem and significantly improved their lives. It is far easier to get a video testimonial of your customers. Just ask them how they overcame their challenge and how your company was able to solve them.
Below is a video testimonial of one my very first clients. In it he talks about how I was able to solve a problem he had through video marketing.
youtube
6. Case Study Videos
Case study videos are almost similar to testimonial videos, but instead of your customers raving about you… you do the raving yourself.  A case study is a self-study of an outcome to a solution you have provided. In the business world all case studies which are shared publicly are success stories. While in the scientific world it is not. If you have conducted business with a client or a customer, and if you provided a successful solution to them, then make a case study video and share it with your audience.
7. Explainer Videos
These types of videos are often made with animation and animated characters. These videos are designed to help convince your audience as to “why” they need your product or service. Many explainer videos focus on two fictional animated characters who want to overcome a certain problem they have. One character chooses your company while the other chooses a competitor. In the end the character who chose your company overcomes their problem and are enjoying much success, while the other character is still stuck on first gear.
In the video below I have shared an explainer video we did for an Australian startup back in 2014. If you do not want to spend a lot and want to create a 2 minute explainer video, leave a comment on the comment section below and let us know your intentions.
vimeo
8. Live Videos
Live video is the trending medium most global brands are now using.  Viewers spent up to 8x longer with live video than with video on-demand for most global brands – a significant jump compared to on-demand videos. Live-stream interviews, presentations, and events, and encourage viewers to comment with questions.
9. Personalized Messages
Video is a creative way of sending personalized messages within any origination. Internal communications are a large part of global companies, and they adopt a lot of video to send personalized messages from the top brass. These videos can be welcome videos, training videos, or videos to communicate special milestones achieved by the company. Although it may seem that a small business may not have a need to adopt such a strategy, why not start that culture? To get started why not plan on sending a thanksgiving message to your employees? Let them know how they have contributed to the success of the company. Same way you could create a separate video for your customers.
10. 360° & Virtual Reality Videos
With 360° videos, viewers “scroll” around to see content from every angle — as if they were physically standing within the content. This spherical video style has allowed global brands to experience a location or an event from a mobile device. These videos are very expensive to create, and I understand that most small businesses does not have the deep pockets to invest in such a collaboration but I am simply stating this as Global brands have used this types of videos.
The above concepts have been tested time and time again by global brands, to maximize their image. While you cannot really emulate what they did with your limited resources, it helps to know what the BEST is doing to stay on top. If you are a small business owner and want to compete with your local competition then it helps to know “how” to use video marketing to your advantage. I hope this article will help you do so. Good luck – Vijith.

Video Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 - 3 Fundamentals To Succeed
Tumblr media
Today most marketers agree (in theory), that video is the BEST medium to attract, connect and engage a target audience. This is probably why the term “Video Marketing” seem omnipresent at any marketing conversation today. While the meaning of “Video Marketing” seems to be pretty straightforward, it begs to be defined and differentiated so that every business owner understands the question. A lot of people would say video marketing is “marketing with video”. That is true. But I thought of further examining this and expanding it a notch. Also I am revealing how to ace EVERY marketing video with 3 basic fundamentals.
There are two entirely different terms to explain what is Video Marketing…
FIRST is “marketing WITH video” and the second is “marketing A video”
 Let’s break this down further…
First “marketing WITH video” is something like advertising with video. It can be about a product, service, brand or even an idea.
Marketing WITH video could be just one video or several videos.
These videos are then uploaded to websites, social media platforms, OR could be used in email marketing campaigns.
This type of multiple video sharing is what we call “marketing With video”
Now… out of these videos that were shared, there could be ONE video that performed much better than the other videos. This ONE video probably got more views, likes, comments, and shares.
Since this video outperformed the rest, the video owners or the marketing team would want to further advertise or market this video. They can boost that video with pay per click advertising, feature it on their home page, and use it on email campaigns.
This is what we call “marketing A video” – Where all efforts are concentrated on marketing A particular video.
Now… Lets look at WHY this video performed better than other videos? It probably had the following 3 criteria that determine an effective marketing video:
 1.    It was able to educate.
2.    It was able to Entertain
3.    And it was able to inspire your audience.
If you are not educating something new your audience is not going to watch your video beyond the first ten seconds. If your video does not have an entertainment quality to it, the chances are your audience is not going to watch till the video completion… And at the end of the video if you do not inspire them to take action; your video may not yield the desired results you expect.

Video Marketing SEO Packages 2020
Tumblr media
Back in 2017 I created a blog titled Video SEO Packages 2017. That article was more of a sales heavy pitch in how we could help rank your videos primarily on youtube. What is true back then is still true today: More businesses and brands are struggling to find ways on how to rank youtube video.
While most of my blogs are aimed at creating a video or simply getting started with a video marketing campaign, I never really realized I never really concentrated on what to do “after” a video is created. If you are new to this blog and have not yet started video marketing strategies download How to Get Started With Your Video Marketing Strategy and get started today!
So what happens after you created an effective video? As your impulse might tell you, you upload it on social media. Then what? How will you know (beyond your friends and subscribers) others will find your video? How long will they watch your video? Will they get the message? Will they visit your website? How will the video help you generate revenue? The mountains of questions and uncertainties rise. That is why I compiled The Anatomy of The Future Video SEO Strategy for you to effectively learn the basics of ranking your videos.
But a lot of business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers simply do not have the time to do all this. This is where we come in. Facebook Video Marketing Sri Lanka – Top 9 Tips to Succeed
Tumblr media
Facebook autoplay videos – The 1.65 billion monthly users took this feature as a trend that youtube (generally considered as the trend setter in online video) had to frantically follow up. Face book quickly recognized that people wanted visuals and audio, to trigger their imagination. They quickly prioritized their video algorithm to include auto play – a feature youtube is still trying to manipulate.
Most videos that go viral on facebook (and on youtube) tend to have an entertaining element to it because people want to be entertained. But this article will focus more on facebook video marketing geared more towards brands and businesses.
So if you want to generate interest, stir curiosity, direct traffic or funnel sales your facebook video marketing campaigns should achieve three things:
(1)    Entertain
(2)    Educate
(3)    Inspire
With the above three in mind take in to account these ten tips as you get the ground breaking on facebook video marketing sri lanka.
1. Keep your video short.
Short, intriguing videos have the potential of being engaged and shared virally. Facebook admits that videos less than 2 minutes are more effective than longer videos. People tend to only retain 10% of the information they hear, but they could remember visuals 65% three days later. Keep this fact in mind. If you recall Gieco’s videos you will undoubtedly remember the gecko (because of its entertaining content)and the message at the end: “15 minutes or longer will save you 15% on your insurance”
2. Keep your narrations to a minimum.
If you are aiming for a global audience the try and create visual videos with little narration so your audience across the globe can get your message. This is why good music videos are the most likely to go viral. If you take Luis Fonsi’s Despacito (a Spanish song) got most of its 6 billion views from non-Spanish speaking countries.
3. Educate your audience.
Before you attempt to educate your audience, educate yourself about them. Look at what people are searching. If you are a dentist stop targeting your videos for dental procedures such as crowns, root canals, etc. Instead target your videos to people searching information on how to correct crooked, short teeth and how to remove stains from teeth. People love instant solutions, so why not your videos do the same? Check out the short cooking videos available on buzz feed. You do not need to be an aspiring chef to fall in love with these videos.
4. Make the first five seconds count.
If you are lucky enough for anyone to hit the play button of your facebook video, remember that you only have 5 seconds to grab their attention. This is where the entertainment value comes. If your video is dry and runs out of true entertainment value, guess what? Your audience will get bored. Best way to build up a video is to create curiosity. Tell your audience what the video is about and let them know what you plan on accomplishing. If it is a weight loss video… tell what is unique about your video and how you are going to help reduce 20 pounds in one week.
5. Choose an exciting title.
This applies more to youtube videos than facebook videos, but you never will draw an audience to your videos if you don’t have (1) a title that people search and (2) a title that excite people to click the play button. So get creative with your titles. Just like the dentist example above, when you create a video for cosmetic dentistry, title the video accordingly and also use words people search on how to fix their crooked teeth.
6. Choose an exciting and a striking thumbnail.
Yes, facebook has auto play enabled, therefore your audience will not get a chance to see your thumbnail. But guess what? When people search for your video, facebook will list out the relevant videos much like how youtube displays searches. An effective video thumbnail (the still image you see before you click the play button) will grab the attention of those searching for your type of videos. Facebook allows you to create a video thumbnail or you can upload one that you have created. Check out the two thumbnails for a weight loss video. Now you get the idea?
7. Schedule your videos ahead of time for maximum exposure.
This ability (exclusively reserved for facebook in 2018) reaped in a lot of traffic for facebook video. You need to take advantage of this ability to schedule and post ahead of time, especially when your audience is in a different time zone. No point uploading a great video at 2 am (when nobody is a wake to notice on their news feed). This unique ability (now available on youtube) has to be used as much as possible for your advantage.
8. Keep your videos coming in regularly.
If your goal is to release new video content continuously, and you are not sure what is too much or not enough, try posting video content every other week shorter and more concise video content is much better, but there are those who would not mind longer videos. So try a mix inbetween the two… have more shorter videos posted regularly and then expand on that video (and notify your audience) on a later date. This is a good practice.
9. Don’t forget the call-to-action tab
If your videos are entertaining and educating enough that you are enjoying a ton of engagement (views, likes, shares, comments) that means you are already off to a video campaign (enjoyed by a few). If you managed to retain your audience till the end of your video that is where the third aspect (inspire) comes in. If you are not going to inspire your audience to take action then your videos will accomplish very little. Have a call to action tab where your audience can find more information (direct them to your website or a buying page).
Every business can benefit from a facebook video marketing campaign. But you need to have strategy on improving your videos everytime you upload a new video. I hope this guide was useful that you were enlightened somewhat about what more to expect from your facebook video marketing campaign – good luck.

Video Marketing Sri Lanka 2020 – How to Start Creating Videos on Your Own (part 1)
Tumblr media
Online video marketing have brought in a lot of success to many businesses and brands in Sri Lanka over the past few years. It is the best medium available to engage your audience, entertain them, educate them, and to inspire them. However, many small to medium businesses have not engaged in video marketing simply because (1) they don’t have the know-how in getting started and (2) they don’t want to spend the big bucks. If you are a business owner and don’t want to spend more than LKR 20,000 per video then this article is for you.
Thanks to technology, most of us now have the ability to shoot (and edit) long, high-quality videos on our smart phones and tabs, and upload them to be shared socially with everyone we know. Most big news agencies like CNN and BBC now include videos of i-reporters, where amateur journalists shoot newsworthy videos and to have big news agencies show them to the rest of the world. The recent plane crashes too were captured on amateur video, and broadcasted to the rest of the world.
Video sharing has become a key factor in social media in how we entertain and learn on the internet. Gone will be the days where browsers will read through lengthy written content. Instead they will value the information they will receive through video. This will be amply demonstrated when the cohorts of generation Y (those born after the early 1990’s) become working adults and will look towards the internet for information.
Tumblr media
Current market leader Youtube® is continually evolving to stay on top and has become the second largest search engine in the world next to Google®. More and more people prefer watching a video than reading written content. Videos have never been more popular and the trend is catching fire.

Video Marketing Sri Lanka 2019 – 5 Do It Yourself Ideas
Tumblr media
The success of any marketing campaign relies on creating rich, valuable, and engaging content. Video marketing is no different. Most Sri Lankan business owners think that they need to reserve big budgets to create videos. It is true if you want to consult reputed agencies who work with corporate clients. If you are a small business owner, and if you think you cannot afford to create videos, here are 5 ways to get started without even spending a rupee.
If you have not created any videos as part of your marketing campaigns then you should ready yourself to be part of it. You need to understand that your target audience is now relying on online video to inform themselves.  This is why you have to become ultra-creative in figuring out how to reach your audience with video. Creating creative content is never an easy task. It is a process. The first and foremost important thing is to get started. Second is to keep doing it (all the while improving your video content). These five do it yourself ideas are simple enough to kick start your video marketing sri lanka 2019 campaign.
1. Become your own brand ambassador
As the business/brand owner it is your responsibility to make your audience understand what your business/brand/idea. There is no one better to do this than the top man or woman of any organization or business. Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Bronson are people associated closely with their brands. While they built up credibility for themselves by becoming the face of their brand, it dramatically helped raise their brand status. So plan to appear in many videos as you can (even as part of the cast) and rehearse yourself to getting better with each video you create.
Repurpose written content and present them in short videos.
Share your company goals, vision, and future outlook.
Create a story on how you got started and your business roots.
Create holiday messages, Christmas greetings, and well wishes to the new year.
2. Create Staff Testimonials
This is by far the best way to broadcast about your business culture to your audience. When your audiences see what a fun place you have for your employees, it builds credibility, and trust. The video does not have to be self-promotion, instead focus on introducing your staff, where they are from, what they do for fun, their families, their ambitions, etc. This will also create a great atmosphere in yoir office as your staff will share the video with friends, and it will possibly have a viral quality to it.
3. Make Important Announcements
Communicating regularly on social media is a MUST for any business. With more people preferring to watch a video than reading content, why not make your announcements via video? A video has a higher engagement potential in the likes of view, likes, comments and most importantly shares. Here are a few suggestions:
Share a new feature, a new product/service/brand.
Announce special offers, discounts and promotions.
4. Share Your Thoughts on Leadership.
You are a business owner. You are someone who is taken seriously in your local community. You create employment. You are an entrepreneur. Therefore people will look up to you and take your advice on leadership more seriously. Take your own experience, on how you got started, how you had to fight adversity and bring your business to where it is today. Talk about your industry. Talk about statistics, and talk about what is important to your local community.
5. Build trust with customer testimonials
Who is the next best person after you to become your business/brand ambassador? Presenting video testimonials from those who have done business with you, and those who love doing business with you is irresistible to anyone who wants to do business with you in the future. This is a fact! There is no other better way to promote yourself than by your fans. So next time you meet with a client or a customer, just whip out your phone and ask them their experience doing business with you. Oh! Yeah and record it on video.
These five tips are very easily within your reach. If you already own a smart phone with a decent camera, then you already have the resources to get started. So plan ahead, think big, start now and always, always… think video.
