Just a heads up to anyone who reads my fic—I’ve changed my Ao3 username to pearlgrayrose. It might take a few days for all the links to change, but if you see my work under a new name, that’s why!

Some days the Hasstrel estate is silent, disturbed only by the quiet work of its few servants and the young domna’s lessons. And other days, Habim unceremoniously steers her to the door and suggests that they go for a long walk until the world is quiet again.

I am mildly concerned that no main character has died yet in the witchlands. The finale is either going to be a chronicles of narnia ending or wings of fire “everyone is alive and happy :)” ending. I don’t think we’ll get the happy ending
Either a happy ending or:
The paladins all die
Vivia dies ("wind king" king of what????)
The cahr awen die
Lizzie and corra die hours right after meeting aeduan for the first time
A very grim theory but kahina pulls stix towards working with ragnor and one of the other pov characters kill her. She would never because the raiders attacked lovats twice in the last year but just imagine. It will not happen definitely but I'm thinking Aeduan would be the one to do it

I'm trying to brace myself for only getting 5-7 pages of Lizl in the finale but it's truly difficult when she's just so amazing in Bloodwitch

Owl and Zander having such so much trust and such a close bond with each other in spite of not speaking the same language is actually the sweetest thing ever

Yeah, sucks to be Leopold and all that, but also I feel like people might think of him as trustworthy if he had tried acting like it

Can you even imagine being in a position where you could be kind to people who were really struggling, bring your country to its former glory, and just do so much good in the world, and choosing to do literally anything that Yoris does instead? I didn't think he would come back after Truthwitch and I hated him even then. His behavior in Witchshadow is just so appalling that it truly baffles me

There are many reasons why I'm excited for Merik to finally reunite with the other characters, but also consider: they will be so surprised at his growth over the course of the books. Imagine. They go over to him and find a man who can listen to someone mention his faults without responding with "A lie. Now let's talk about me." He can have a tolerable conversation where he listens to people respectfully. He's actively trying to be better, and I don't think it will go unnoticed by anyone.

This has been said before, but between raising Merik away from the rest of his family and training multiple young Carawen monks, two of which hated each other, imagine how tired Evrane must be

One thing I still can’t figure out is that if Leopold was never actually working with Mathew and Habim, and was just pretending to be involved in their plans to get the others to trust him, who did Mathew actually send to Iseult in Tirla and what happened to them?

It's funny how a whole book filled with small reveals about Eron fon Hasstrel could still leave me confused about several important questions regarding Eron fon Hasstrel

I will feel robbed if we don’t get more than one scene of Merik and Vivia trying to be on somewhat good terms in the finale

Witchshadow did the thing I hate where a pet is mentioned once earlier in a series and then never again, leaving you to imagine the worst about what happened, which is frustrating because Scruffs - but it also introduced a new pet that absolutely melted my heart in one (1) page because I can't think of anyone who deserves a storm hound puppy more than Kullen

With one of them a Waterwitch Paladin and the other one a Carawen monk and both of them badasses, Stix and Lizl would be an absolute powerhouse if they were to work together on something

Safi is iconic for many reasons, one of which is that she’s so unafraid to make a scene at all times.
Exhibit A:  the Truthwitch scene where she and Iseult are in Veñaza City and they have to get past the guards without being searched, and she’s just like “Well, looks like a good day to hold up a whole crowd of people, we’re gonna have this out here”
Exhibit B:  the many Truthwitch scenes where she loudly and defiantly stands up to Merik in spite of being outnumbered on his own ship surrounded by his own crew
Exhibit C:  the Witchshadow scene where she makes a big show of losing her shit over sewing materials that she wants, which ends up being unnecessary because when the outburst is over, Lev is just like “yeah, sure”
