kvetching again about peoples tone on here and not sorry, can we p l e a s e stop spreading harrowing geopolitical news through the meme of the ugly men from supernatural. once again i need ppl to be serious for a second. and this is a general complaint of this website and my generation and the world, that we are all so deeply irony poisoned in every way. can you please just be sincere and direct with me for a moment without 5 layers thick of artifice. especially if you're talking about mass death events. and why are you making memes to Cope with murders being comitted with your tax dollars across the world while you sit cozily in the burning heart of the empire. why are you trying to laugh with me that you'll be nuked in kanada by the ever extant spectre of weapons of mass destruction that transmutate themselves to any location necessary to justify continued imperial conquest. does no one feel shame anymore? rage even?

Since the r-slur is making a comeback (you know, the word that starts with R, has six letters, and ends in D), I'm gonna make a little PSA:
Yes, it's an ableist slur.
Terms like "asshat," "head-up-ass," "up their own ass," and "high on their own farts" exist. There's also words like crap, dogshit, half-assed, assclown, and chucklefuck. And on the less vulgar side, there are terms like ridiculous, nonsense, train wreck, pointless, insipid, self-absorbed, pretentious, annoying, boring, contemptible, vile, and disgusting.
Substituting words like restarted, poptarted, brain damaged, smoothbrain, etc. is still ableist, because either 1. you obviously still mean the r-word, or 2. you're still using disability as an insult.

the thing about cis people is there’s nothing they love more than outing a trans acquaintance for literally no reason

Leaving aside that any variation of "this is happening because leftists wouldn't pinch their nose and vote for the lesser evil™" about the bombing of Iran is just factually untrue (Harris made it repeatedly clear that she considered Iran a threat which she would make a priority to stop with military force, and Democrat presidents don't exactly have a track record of being more opposed to bombing middle-eastern countries than Republican presidents), it's just such a perfect demonstration of first-world ghoulishness how so many self-proclaimed progressive americans will see people in another country get bombed and their first thought will be "I should use this to votescold other americans" before the bodies are even cold.

see i think the thing is a lot of people think that "trans woman" is a gender separate from "(real) woman"

“Women don’t have rights in Iran, they are homophobic in Iran!”
A black woman’s dying body was used to incubate a fetus because the state said so and the Supreme Court, regurgitating debunked talking points, ruled that trans kids could be denied gender affirming care that is proven to save lives. Does that justify a foreign power bombing New Jersey indiscriminately? Like some of y’all don’t give a fuck about LGBTQ Iranians or women in that country because I never saw a people get free through just having their shit blown up

americans will, with a straight face, tell you they care about the status of women and minorities in SWANA, and then follow that up with "and that's why i support bombing them".

slightly furious reminder that fish do in fact feel pain and do in fact experience fear and distress when in pain since people seem to love spreading the myth that fish don't feel pain. what is it with people assuming a creature is incapable of feeling pain or emotion just because it doesn't have complex facial muscles. come on gang

while I do think there are definitely films with gay reputations higher than how gay they actually are and there are very real instances of queerbaiting....there is truly nothing more irritating to me personally than gay film/tv fans saying a movie or show "wasn't gay enough" and all they obviously mean is "I personally couldn't jerk off to this cos there was no kissing or sex". an obvious example of this is how a lot of white gay ppl discuss Moonlight (2017). But I also just watched Burning Days (2022) a super compelling political thriller about a closeted police prosecutor who moves to a small Turkish town to investigate corruption and gets caught up in a blackmail scheme by the mayor because he's gay and trying to stop the shady shit going on. The tension between the lead and the handsome bisexual journalist who's trying to warn him about all this is SOOOOO palpable I was barely blinking when they were on screen just 👀. They don't technically "get together" because the film isn't a romance but essentially the whole plot is driven by how the prosecutor is so easily marked for ostracizing because he's gay. Tell me why one of the top reviews of this film that has a gay main character in a plot driven by hostility to him being gay and one of the top reviews is "could've been gayer" can ppl please either grow the fuck up or just go watch porn if all you wanna get out of a film is shallow portrayals of intimacy. youse are so boring the way you'll just dismiss the queerness of something wholesale if that queerness isn't the most obvious form of intimacy, or if it doesn't make you horny. and isn't it so interesting how these comments are most often made about LGBT films focused on people of colour??? Transparent. Exhausting.

If you want to employ trans people, especially trans women of color, you gotta kill your degree requirements on job postings in favor of experience or OTJ training if the job doesn’t strictly or legally require it.
Per a 2015 study, Access Denied:
-66% of white trans people have a degree, compared to 14% and 15% of Black and Hispanic folks.
-16% of trans people with a degree are unemployed, vs. 47% without.
-compared to cis people, trans people with a degree are five times more likely to be unemployed.
-71% of transmascs have a degree vs. 29% of transfemmes.
-46% of trans people make below $10k/y, with 57% of TWOC making below that.
If you want to actually help trans people, employ us so we can fucking survive. Hire us and train us. Fucking help us live.

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.

we can't even get a basic "all men structurally benefit from a misogynist society" to pass on this website without a bunch of queer men shooting themselves into a panic cause they get too uncomfortable about the idea of being culpable to self reflect. "feminist" website
