Piggy lie there, his eyes fluttering softly his head bludgeoned. He saw the light faintly glowing above, his mind creating a delusion.

He opened his eyes to see a shimmering palace the kind in the fairytales. Glimmering dinner hall with white tables. He looked up from his shoes meeting Ralph’s eyes, a smile grew on his face.

“Ralph, where am I?” The dining hall loud but not overwhelming, Ralph took his hands. He wasn’t as dirty as the island his hair still long but cleaner.

“Charles, I’ve been waiting.” Ralph smiled warmly, Charles was confused. His real name, he could’ve never in his dreams imaged it being used by him.

“What is this place, you know my name?” Charles sputtered quickly, Ralph laughed.

“Of course, what other would I use for my best friend.” Charles was baffled, best friend? He hadn’t even ever had one ‘friend’ let alone a ‘best friend’.

All he could do was wrap his arms around Ralph crying tears of joy into his shirt. Ralph rubbed his back, the same way his auntie would when he was young. Charles knew it wasn’t real, he knew he was dying from that rock. But for now he’d live in this reality, wherever it was in his mind. While he lost consciousness he’d live in the best of his mind. In a reality of acceptance and love, wishing it was his own. One day he would have a friend, a best friend. One who would care for him, treat him better than subhuman. He swayed with the only person who showed him kindness, ignoring the fading of light.

I think that some people tend to forget that Jack wasn’t always like a crazy unruly savage kid like he was chapter chorister he was head boy even if he was like secretly a scoundrel which he probably was he was probably a complete asshole but just not in front of teachers like he had to be at least a little bit of a goodie two-shoes he had to be a teacher‘s pet to some degree he definitely got good grades because otherwise how the hell would he be head boy you know
