Lysidice and the Minotaur is an interactive parser, created for the Text Adventure Literacy Jam and is meant for beginner players, since it includes, a tutorial, a hint system, and a full walkthrough (also downloadable. 

As a parser, it is considered merciful (or polite, if I broke something). You will never reach a losing state. You can also find instructions on how to play a parser on the game page.

Mentions or depictions of: fights (swords), injuries and wounds (blood), mental illness, harm to animals (minimal). Please be aware when starting the game.

Jun 2024 Update

Hello, I know that it's been so long, I'm so sorry.

BUT, the bulk of the coding needed for GUI and menus are mostly finished for Case 0.

Just a little sneak peak of what I'm working on!

I'm really proud of how it looked actually! It's got a snappy and stylistic feel to it, and it really supports the unseriousness but dark themes of the premise.

Case 0 outline has also been finished, what's left for me is to actually write it, so I'm planning on doing a final polish of the UI this week and start writing next week!

Looking forward to introduce you guys to the first 3 characters of The Kill Petition.

So idk if there's an official way to do it but if I open a story from the Twine > Stories folder in my browser and make a change in the desktop app, refreshing that page in the browser shows the change. If I'm viewing my project from the page generated by clicking "play" or "test from here" in the app, the updates don't show. 😅 I hope that explanation made sense and it works for you.

I tried it! Can't really find the Stories folder though. Just wondering, what version of Twine Desktop are you using?

Also tried opening it from the source html file, but it wasn't updating either. But for anyone with the same problem, feel free to try! I think it's my Twine Version.

Quick Question (Help)

Is anyone who use Twine Desktop able to reload the pages and update the passage / display in real time?

I'm working on some UI stuff and I always have to re-run and re-build everything from the start for the changes to show?

This was never a problem in browser, but.. The memory on browser is limited.. and I've hit that limit..

I'll Be Honest

It's been too long, and I'm sorry.

Between my full-time workload and my personal life, I won't be able to keep developing The Woods Hungers with its vast branching plot and ambitious gameplay.

The Woods Hungers will be having an indefinite hiatus, but, I do want to keep making IFs.

I will keep my message and prompts open, but dev-wise, I'll be focusing on The Kill Petition with it's episodic gameplay and plot.

I will also be open to collabs: be it working on an IF you wrote or my IF. It's hard to manage both writing and coding on your own, so it might be more managable to do all this together.

If anyone's interested, please DM me.

What's something the ROs dislike about themselves the most? What's something they really like about themselves?

Viel:

Hates: How he could be so powerless. He's just some guy doing grunt work for nobles. There's no honor in his work sometimes.

Likes: How quickly he absorbs things. He picks up sword-fighting so quickly, it's become muscle memory and reflex.

Nora:

Hates: The way she acts. It's never normal, why can't she be normal?? They won't see her as normal, as theirs, as family.

Likes: Power. Resources. She have them all. She doesn't need anyone in her life. She's self-sufficient.

Ylfa

Hates: How her back and hurts when she wakes up. She must've twisted her body in her sleep or something.

Likes: How people gravitates towards her. For songs, for stories, even just for a buddy to drink with.

Aen'frie

Hates: Their stupidity, their naivety, how people won't take them seriously because they're not a threat. Yet they're self-aware of it all.

Likes: They're rather proud of their looks, their silky hair, their flawless skin. No mortal, human or fae, would look away.

The Cook

Hates: The way they're incapable of being soft, of caring, of doting, of loving. It doesn't feel right in their calloused hands.

Likes: Their strength and skill. They're a hunter, a good one. And they're proud if it.

Caine

Hates: How he would switch to People-Pleasing mode sometimes. It's not him, but it still is.

Likes: His common-sense, his sense of shame. He's seen many noble lose it all, but he knows himself, he's grounded and would never make the same mistake as them.

It was a normal banquet. And by normal, means you and Caine have snuck away, as usual, both of you the target of sharp gazes and critical stares in every royal event.

Caine's hands were around your wrist as he led you into the balcony in a deserted hallway, and you stepped into the cool night air, the scent of flower lingering in the air.

"Now I can have you all to myself," his fingers under your chin, tilting your face up to see you more clearly. His eyes wandered, taking in your crystal eyes, the imperfections on your cheeks, then to your lips.

You leaned closer, hands finding its way around his neck, and his on your waist. His breath ghosted over your cheeks as he-

"So this is where the both of you are?!"

The two of you snapped away from each other, turning to the source of the voice, but relaxed when you saw Viel standing at the doorway to the balcony.

"You seem busy, we can't seem to get you away," you leaned back against the balcony. Viel has always been the center of attention these days, with so many swooning over him and getting him to join their next parties.

"Excuses," he rolled his eyes as he joined the two of you on the balcony, turning to Caine with narrowed eyes, "I'm also your knight am I? Why did you leave with them?"

The prince could only laugh, "What's this? Jealousy? Want me all to yourself, do you?"

In turn, you pull at Viel until he's pressed chest to chest against you, his hands resting at your hips out of habit. You leaned in closer before you whispered to him dramatically, "Over my dead body, Cartier."

Viel scoffed, not even bothering to hide the tinge of red on his cheeks. He rolled his eyes at you as Caine reached out to take his hands, "Are you sulking, Viel?"

"No, I-"

You followed suit, pressing a chaste kiss on his cheeks as you stifled a laugh, "Are you sulking, Cartier?"

"I'm not! Stop teasing me!"

"Urgh! Why are your attitude with Caine and your attitude with me so different?"

"What? Because you're two different person!"

"This is favoritism, Cartier, it isn't fair," you acted hurt, though the three of you knew that wasn't true.

Viel opened his mouth to retort back, but your bickering stopped when Caine burst into laugh, his voice ringing into the night, echoing across their quiet corner of the palace.

You and Viel turned to your prince "... What's... so funny?"

"Nothing! It's just that-" Caine couldn't help but stifle another laughter, "The two of you never change."
