everything they tell you about early diagnosis is a lie. it wouldn’t have been easier if you’d gotten diagnosed at 3, 6, 9, or 12. when you have autism, allistic people don’t care. they wont consider it when they speak to you, they won’t consider it when they babysit you, they won’t consider it when they teach you, they won’t consider it when they bully you, they won’t consider it when they lie, gaslight, rinse, and repeat. yes, an early diagnosis may help you understand yourself more, but there’s a sense of naivety in believing that other people will understand you more as well. people will assign you malice that you couldn’t fathom. even if you get diagnosed early, you’ll still spend all of your teenage years masking to try to fit in. even if you get diagnosed early, you’ll realize that masking is killing you. even if you get diagnosed early, the schools can still turn you down for accommodations. being diagnosed early will not save you from the fate of seeing how many people want to eradicate us. of seeing how many people would rather have their children die of a communicable disease than be like us. of hearing people say that the only reasons they hate us are our symptoms. early diagnosis is a privilege by all means, but it won’t make many things easier.

You know we only ever really "learn" how to bathe in our youth as it is taught to us by our parents and from then on most people kinda just bathe the same way right. And like barring actively deciding to do it the only way most people change their bathing habits is if they bathe with a loved one and get convinced to do somethi g different in the bath bc its cleaner/faster/whatever bc of them.
