CHAPTER 2

You had gotten up and grabbed a remote, already familiar with their location by Edd's tv. It made you think of the last time you came over, and both of you had stayed up late playing various games. The memory made you smile as you popped the remote into the wheel accessory.

Speaking of the devil, Edd had peeked out into the living room. You both locked eyes before he spoke, he looked happy- excited even?

"Hey, I'll be over in a minute guys, I just gotta watch this pizza and then I can play."

Matt turned his body and held the back of the couch to look at Edd. The sight was slightly amusing to say the least, making the smile from earlier linger. Tom looked up from his phone, between you and Edd. His movements were hard to miss and momentarily you both held eye contact.

"Cool, you can join after this race then."

Tom had a smug grin on his face as he looked at Edd, knowing that his bluntness would push his buttons. Like predicted, Edd rolled his eyes and went back into his kitchen.

The casual closeness between the guys made you wanna speak up so bad with small talk, but all the words died in your throat. Nothing felt like the right thing to say so you stayed quiet.

Matt had switched the mode to three player versus and picked Luigi as his racer. Tom chose king boo, which was what you'd guess he'd pick besides bowser based off of looks alone.

You picked your favorite racer, earning you a questionable look from Matt and Tom. However, you had played against Edd, who is quite possibly the most competitive man on earth, multiple times.

You furrowed your eyebrows as you focused on the screen, trying to lock in. On the inside though? Oh you were so cocky right now. Come on, these guys had no idea what was coming and it was hilarious.

Matt was a little cocky himself, seeing as he picked his favorite character and bike. He felt like this was just gonna be another one of those games where he wins by a landslide.

Glancing over at you, he noticed how intensely focused you looked. He hadn't even chosen a track yet. It weirded him out a little but he promised to give Edd the benefit of the doubt about how "swell it would be to meet y/n."

Tom was thinking about Susan, more specifically some riff he recently learned. He had a lazy smirk on his face as he zoned out thinking about how cool it sounded.

He wasn't paying much attention, and probably wouldn't unless he was yelled at/for or unless the race started.

"Have any tracks in mind y/n?"

Matt spoke up, mindlessly browsing through the different tracks available.

"Hmm, you guys ok with mushroom gorge?"

You knew a few tricks for it and wanted to see if they'd know them or not. Tom shrugged and Matt clicked on mushroom gorge, not having any complaints. Matt nodded and clicked on the mushroom cup, selecting mushroom gorge.

After having played with Edd so often, you've learned a few speed run tricks, mostly to keep up with his competitive and sometimes cheating ass. Part of you was glad he was busy tending to pizza right now.

The race had ended and Matt's jaw was on the floor. Not only had you beat him and Tom, but it was by an extra thirty seconds too. They slowly turned to look at you, but you were already too busy stuffing your face with pizza.

"How the hell did you do that?"

Tom spoke up, referring to the race that had just occured. Matt was waiting to hear from you as well, but he knew damn well you were that good because of Edd. He shot a dirty look towards Edd in the kitchen, but Edd was too busy listening to the background music from the game and dancing as he watched the pizza bake.

"Uhh I dunno, I just put the pizza into my mouth-"

You spoke up after swallowing a bite of pizza. Tom deadpanned,

"Not the pizza, the race you ditz."

It took a second, but then it dawned on you.

"Ohhh yeah. I just play with Edd a lot."

Matt groaned and threw his head back, and Tom scoffed. This made you chuckle and they both gave each other a look. You didn't know what the look meant, but Matt spoke up before you could ask.

"Whatever. From now on me and Tom pick the maps."

That was fair.

After the supreme pizza, everyone had played a few rounds of Mario Kart. It didn't take long for Matt and Tom to grow disinterested, so you suggested that you all watch horror movies. Everyone agreed and Tom got first pick.

He decided to start of with Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, and Edd put it on. Matt got up and started to make popcorn in Edd's kitchen, saying, and I quote:

"I can't sit still for the first part of movies, so I'm gonna go make popcorn."

Edd quickly grabbed blankets, enough for everybody somehow, and got comfortable on his spot on the couch.

"Y/n, do you wanna sit on the couch with us? I can make room."

You looked over at Edd, who was offering space that pretty much didn't exist with all three of them on that couch. He was making that stupid pleading face under his blanket and it was hard not to give in a little.

CHAPTER 1

You were never the greatest at expressing your emotions- and not in the aloof cold hard exterior way. There were times where you were, sure, but it was harder to pin point in what way.

Edd, everyone's bona fide buddy, knew this very well. So when he introduced you to his other friends Matt and Tom he expected things to be a mess.

Having been invited over to Edd's apartment for pizza was like a blessing. Your fridge was depressingly baren and grocery shopping procrastination was rampant. Thankfully, his apartment was only a couple floors above you, making your walk short.

At the sight of his door you knocked, shifting in your spot uncomfortably in the empty but still somehow messy hallway. You could hear the loud sounds coming from Edd's tv, presumably drowning out the sounds of your knuckles against the cheap door.

Sighing, you pulled your phone out to text Edd. The sound of the door to your left opening caught your attention. You kept your face buried in your phone as you texted Edd that you were at his door, too socially anxious to glance at whoever just exited their apartment.

"Um..'scuse me.."

You darted your head up from your phone to look at the person...guy?

He had no eyes, or all black eyes, you couldn't tell but it made you think of 2-D from Gorillaz. You took in his appearance as you spoke,

"Oh- sorry."

You moved to be out of his way, which you thought was the rest of the hallway. Edd had neglected to mention that it wasn't just gonna be you and him for pizza that night. After having moved closer to Edd's door and glancing at your phone you noticed two things.

One, this guy hadn't moved and he looked confused. Two, Edd texted back and you could hear footsteps on the other side of his door.

Speaking of the devil, Edd's door opened to reveal...well, Edd.

"Y/n! Tom! Come on in!"

To say you were surprised was an understatement, but you just looked uncomfortable instead. Heat rose to your cheeks, embarrassment now cementing itself within you.

"Heyyyy, Edd."

It was painful how awkward you sounded, at least to you. You moved to let Tom go in first, feeling bad for essentially cutting him off just a second ago. He didn't say anything and just walked inside of Edd's apartment.

It didn't take long for you to walk in after him, glancing at Edd with a genuine look of uncertainty. He just chuckled, patting your back and walking toward his kitchen.

Either it didn't occur to him that he didn't say his friend (or friends, much to your social anxiety's dismay) would be over or he just didn't care. Both were very likely, and it made you deadpan as you followed him.

"So uh, is there anyone else coming that I should know about?"

You made an effort not to make eye contact with Tom from the kitchen, or just in general. Edd's tv was louder inside his apartment, the sound of mario kart wii filling in the ringing of silence.

"Nope! Matt's already here. Also, do you want some supreme pizza? I put a frozen one in the oven but Matt doesn't like peppers on his pizza. It'd basically just be me and Tom eating it if you dont want any."

Grabbing a paper plate from his cabinet, you picked up a few pieces of pepperoni pizza that were already laid out on his counter. It was still warm, but definitely not hot out the oven.

"Matt? Who even are these guys? And uh...sure I'll have some supreme."

Leaning against the kitchen counter, you started eating your pizza. Edd was taking out a pizza from his oven and set it on the counter next to the pepperoni, it was cheese pizza. He was using oven mitts that you got him from a gag store for his birthday a few months ago, they were supposed to be roosters but he called them cock gloves.

"I told you yesterday, they're my life long buddies and I was gonna introduce you guys tonight. Didn't you hear me over the phone?"

"Hey Y/n, I was just calling to bhh brh mn hbmmm-"

Your face was one of disgust as he chewed into the phone.

"Uh...ok Edd, good talk."

*Click!*

"No, you just chewed into the phone again."

You rose an eyebrow at him, but he only shrugged. He was so annoying sometimes.

"Oh well. You're here now! Matt put on mario kart if you wanna play."

Edd had taken off the gloves and started shoving pizza in his mouth, his own paper plate having a stack of slices from both the cheese and pepperoni pizza. However, he was too...whatever he was, so you couldn't be mad at him forever.

"I'm gonna go find a seat, you pizza pirate."

He quite literally did the :3 face, which you had no idea how he did but you weren't concerned with that right now.

Walking over to his sofa you noticed that you could either sit between two guys you didn't know in the slightest or sit in Edd's shitty arm chair.

After taking your seat in the arm chair you bit into your pizza, watching whatever was unfolding on the tv. Matt and Tom had glanced at you but their focuses were not held on you. You quietly sighed and leaned back, getting comfortable.

Your embarrassment from earlier still haunted you, and so you were not looking forward to socializing.

"So uh...you're friends with Edd right? How'd you guys meet?"

You looked up from your pizza like you were just caught red handed...which you kind of were red handed. Matt had asked, but he didn't spare anymore glances away from the tv, a wii remote with the wheel attachment on it in his hands.

"Oh um...we met sometime in June, I forgot how we met though.."

Your memory wasn't the greatest; these were the moments that you despised having the memory of the goldfish.

Tom looked over at you, and immediately noticed how you looked so awkward. He snickered, not so much at your response but at your tone.

"Real. I don't even remember how I met Edd or when to be honest."

His voice wasn't necessarily deep, but it sounded coarse. It was like that since May, a time none of them will ever forget- except you of course.

You chuckled, quietly saying yeah. It wasn't really FUNNY per say but it fit the flow of conversation? You honestly didn't know, just going with the flow.

Matt finished his races, and looked over at you. Tom had already gotten up to get a controller for himself, picking Edd's only black controller.

"Wanna play...uh, what's your name?"

Of course. Edd never told them your name.

"Y/n. And sure."
