1980-1984: Shifting Storms part I: These Weathered Patterns
The most popular X-Man of the 1980s was Wolverine. But the most fascinating member of Xavier’s brood has to be Storm. Chris Claremont wrote Ororo Munroe for the entire decade and lovingly put her through a tsunami of change which we’ll cover in this multipart retrospective.
Since Ed Brubaker appeared in CATWS and Chris Claremont was in DOFP, please tell me that it's entirely possible for both of them to show up in an episode of Iron Fist. I love both of their runs so much.
Only if they have to compete in a martial arts battle to the death against one another–!
Illyana Rasputin as Magik in a 1980s vintage poster imagined by The Marvel Project. The amazing art by Colleen Doran appeared as a pin-up in Marvel Fanfare #38 (1988) and the logo by Alex Jay is from the original Magik Limited Series (1983) that revealed what happened during the seven years that Illyana spent in Limbo. Check out more of Colleen Doran’s art from Marvel Fanfare #38 at Stormantic and Alex Jays blog The Tenth Letter of the Alphabet for a great view into the history and creative process behind the Magik logo.
