“Careful as a crossing guard wakin’ up early in the morning,” she promised, as if this had some special significance as a phrase. “But why - real question, pardon, really is - does a perfect memory need a school? You don’t need to answer, no, but the point’s the same.”
“Well people have died waking up in the morning, and being a crossing guard doesn’t mean you will be any careful so I guess you just mean as careful as anyone waking up, which is irrelevant because people still die then.” He shrugged before raising an eyebrow. “Well I’m here for things other then my perfect memory. But my perfect memory affected my chances to be here at the school. If that makes sense.”

Josh didn’t hear the curse, but he did worry that he’d interrupted something important. If only because the Dr had several books open on the table, but then… it wasn’t like he could read them all at once. The thought made him want to chuckle, if only. Still, no point backing out now. He’d come and made it clear he was here for a reason so, he sucked it up and carried on. “Yea, that’s me.” He nodded. “I’m sorry to interrupt you since this isn’t a class time, but I was hoping to ask your advice.” He cleared his throat and hoisted up his overladen bag for a moment, “I’ve been reading up over the holidays and well… I need something a little… more challenging. Most of these books are stuff I’ll cover in my second and third years but I was wondering if you could suggest some journals I could try? My brain just kinda… soaks this stuff up.”
Stephen was surprised that someone actually wanted to read medical journals. They were typically boring unless you directly related to the field in question so he was surprised when the boy asked him the question. “Huh? Oh? Sure. You can go through any of the MEDICAL books in here. You can tell which is which I hope. The others might scar you mentally and physically if you even try to open them.” He said with a shrug.

Johnny hated this. He had a constant ringing in his ears and the head aches came and went. But, he wouldn’t let that keep him from having a good time. “Oi, we should do something fun. This place has become such a down since the party.”
Tumblr media
Stephen raised an eyebrow as someone randomly came up to him and started speaking. He looked up from his book. “Sorry, I didn’t hear what you said. As much as I would like to have said that to be rude, I really didn’t hear you.”

“On some level you must, thank you,” she said, “But consider, excuse me, walking. If I try confidently would the guess be that I must know something to have ever made it this far? A feather on the wind, progress on accident, of course, of course. I didn’t mean to suggest otherwise.”
“I mean I know enough to know exactly what magic is but that doesn’t make it easier to explain.” He rubbed his temple. “Even with eidetic memory. There isn’t as much logic about it all. Especially about where it all comes from.” Stephen sighed and shook his head. “Yes yes, feather on the wind, accidents, and you must have fallen before to know if you will or will not fall. That is all good and dandy. Just be careful.”

“It’s practically the tagline for mutants, I think, yes,” Ruth replied, balancing herself carefully on the edge of the sidewalk as she started toward the staff housing. “I suppose it’s down to which part’s most important to you, thank you. To discover how or to accept that it does, and work with that.”
“Of course I accept it. I’m a sorcerer. It kind of is my whole existence, things that don’t make sense.” He shook his head, as he watched her balance. “Please don’t fall.”

Unconscious, Awake, & Helpful || Open
Stephen wasn’t sure what was going on at all. He was enjoying his free time when all of a sudden his world went to shit. Stephen wasn’t sure if it was just this school or everywhere, but he went from perfect fine to hearing a loud explosion then to black in a matter of seconds. Luckily he had already perfectly mastered the art of not staying in his body. So he quickly projected his blue-y astral form to inspect himself. He was definitely hurt, luckily for him it wasn’t life threatening. Next step was to check for anyone around him. “HEY!” Stephen called out. “Can anyone hear me?!” He yelled again as he started moving through the rubble that his body was trapped under.

“I really doubt that it is that bad,” she shrugged
“Much worse than anything I actually want to wear.”

It had been a long day for Anna, full of new concepts and theories, and after spending hours editing yearbook photos, she felt well and truly exhausted. It was for this reason that she hadn’t noticed the person walking towards her.
She dropped her bag, grimacing as it landed on her toe, but grateful that it had saved her from actually coming into close contact with them. “Are you okay?” She murmured, still half asleep.
Stephen yawned as he started walking back to his room from his office. He wasn’t really paying attention so the moment he heard something fall and then a voice snapped him back to himself. “Huh?” He asked confused since he wasn’t hurt. “What? Nothing happened? Did you hurt yourself?”

Josh had a text book under his arm and several more tucked into his bag, it may have been summer but he stilled kept devouring medical texts at far too swift a pace. He’d finished them all and felt he needed something more challenging. So why not ask Dr. Strange what texts he’d recommend. He was pretty sure he could take next years exams now and pass them. And from his own readings he was very aware the man was a genius. Even if that ‘scorcery’ stuff freaked him out a bit.
“Excuse me, Dr. Strange.” he knocked and opened the door, “I’m sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you had a moment?”
Tumblr media
Stephen was sitting in the middle of his office in front of two blackboards. His eyes were closed like he was meditating, but in reality he wasn’t even inside his body. Two astral projection versions of himself were standing in front of him, one in front of each board. One was full of this mornings lectures, while the other was full of glyphs. This let him focus on multiple tasks at once. But once he heard the knock on the door and heard a students voice, he snapped back into his body. “Damnit.” He cursed under his breath. “I hate it when that happens.” Stephen quickly stood up and turned around to see that golden boy from the other day. “Oh? You’re the kid interested in the medical field right?” He said as he started closing some of his books that were open. “How can I help you.”

“Those look relatively practical, but then who am I to decide the practicality of someone’s wardrobe.”
“A suit isn’t practical. It’s itchy and terrible. I don’t know how I always did this when I was younger.”

“if those aren’t your normal clothes than what are?” she scoffed lightly.
“Something much more comfortable. And something much better for practical movements. Not this constricting.”

“I believe that building over there,” she pointed to a building by the main housing center. “You pullling it like that isn’t going to move it, it’s just going to stretch and then it won’t look even and everyone with the slightest symmetry problem is going to be unable to focus,” she rambled on a bit excessively.
Stephen growled and pulled the fabric again. “I don’t even care about the damn fabric. How does anyone wear stuff like this? I’d much rather go back to my normal clothing.” He said and looked at the building. “But thank you. I did need to find out where that building is.”

“That is a better question, thank you,” Ruth said, smiling slightly. “My eyes don’t work like yours, pardon, yes you noticed shh. But my mind doesn’t either, and that’s the part that knows where I’m going.”
Stephen nodded as he raised an eyebrow. “So some sort of mind powers where you can kind of see. Or at least know where you are going. It makes sense but only in the way that it doesn’t make sense.” He said with a shrug.

“I said so, I have, haven’t I? I meant to if I didn’t, thank you,” Ruth said, crossing her arms across her chest. “I know where I’m going, even if it has a different tone in my head. A puzzle in a way. Partly a matter of fissures where memories should be, sorrysorry, partly a note that you’ve presumed inaccurate absolutes.”
Stephen was about to speak once again before he had to think about what he was going to say. It was giving him a headache. “Yes you did say so. But then I guess the better question is, how do you know where you’re going?” He asked curiously.

“I can do that, yes thank you hello,” Ruth replied, smiling slightly at the annoyed man. “This way please. On the way y’can ponder why half the people that turn up here ask the blind girl for directions please. Hello I said, when the other shoe drops it won’t be such an issue. This way, as I said to one of them.”
When the girl said she was blind he opened his mouth to speak then stopped. It took him a moment to think of a response. “As you said. You are blind. Are you sure you know the correct way.” He asked with a raised eyebrow in confusion. “Also. What the hell was the other thing you said. When the other shoe drops? Are you speaking in puzzles?”

It had been a while since Stephen had been dressed in anything normal and so he pulled at the collar of the shirt he was wearing. Then he spoke to the first person he saw. “Can you show me where the staff housing is.” His voice was annoyed as he continued to pull at the scratchy clothing.
