Friday night was the KC Mavericks’s affiliation night. Our AHL affiliate is the Coachella Valley Firebirds, and our NHL affiliate is the Seattle Kraken.

The night all around was incredible:

The team wore Kraken themed jerseys (and I bought one).

Fuego and Buoy were in town, and I obviously had to get pics with them.

Chet Buchanan, who does the in-arena announcements for the Kraken, came did our in-arena announcements.

We used the Kraken goal song.

They played the Kraken intro video during a break.

The three stars threw out the yeet fish.

Last night’s Mavericks game was absolutely wild.

Cade Borchardt scored 4 goals, marking his second hat trick in as many games. And the second came in his 100th professional game!

For the first time in about 4 years, I had an anxiety attack Tuesday night. As my anxiety had been under control, I had no rescue meds (like Xanax). After about 4 hours of trying to get myself out of the anxiety attack via all the methods that have helped in the past, I gave up and went to the ER. Thankfully the ER doc took me seriously, and even prescribed me Xanax for use at home until I can see my PCP. I’ve unfortunately already had to use them because things have been bad.

I narrowly avoided another anxiety attack today by taking a Xanax and walking around Target for a bit. Something about not being home alone helps. But this is not sustainable. And even though I’m mostly calmed down for now, I can tell my anxiety is still there. And now I’m anxious it’s not going to stay at bay today, meaning I’m in a somewhat self-fulfilling prophecy.

I truly hate this SO much. I hate that I feel out of control of my own brain, emotions, and body. I hate that something flipped like a switch this week to amp my anxiety back up so much. This is absolutely terrible, and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Post game they’re talking about what the Kraken’s identity is, but I think Monty stumbled across it: he said he chose Seattle because “they wanted me.” This is really just a group of guys who finally feel wanted.

Needed to share this here. Consider this my official declaration that I’m a hockey girlie now, and specifically love the Seattle Kraken.
