BLOG FOUR: REWRITE
We probably have some sort of social media, whether it be facebook, twitter, snapchat, and how many times have we posted something when we were mad and then realise, you “stuffed” up or shared a memory of you and your current “ex” boyfriend and after 5 years later facebook decides to say “you have a past memory”. We often use social media for the fun of it, whether it be staying in touch with friends or family, staying up to date with the latest gossip, looking at memes for the next 20 hours or even just to fill up time.
But after participating through the week 5 lecture of COMM140 I didn’t realise that I could use twitter for educational purposes. According to the National Science Teacher Association, they believe that in the 21st century one of the most important skillsets include effective and sensitive use of web communication and social media (Ahmed. Lugovic & Jocic, 2016). By using twitter, you can engage with other teachers (for example) and share ideas that may help them or yourself in the classrooms and use that tools to implement into your own classrooms and uncover new learning opportunities for the students (Creative Education, 2017). Other examples can be communicating and approaching the view of the students to understand and view their interest, empowering faculty to act and improve if needed (Ahmed. Lugovic & Jocic, 2016). This is also known as a personal learning network (PLN) these are tools that help you to learn, nourish and grow anything and anytime with your own personalised audience (ACU, 2019).
Although by having a PLN can be really beneficial to the learning environment in the classroom, it does has its negatives. Firstly, teachers have be considerate to students that cannot afford the newest technology or may face technologically challenges, which could discriminate them getting notes and information that were received from online resources, classrooms discussions and from forums. In terms of what teachers post, they need take caution about what is said because what is posted on the internet can be seen and accessed at all times. For example in 2017, “kill some jews” tweeted by a preschool teachers has gotten in trouble and fired for expressing violent and racist thoughts (Fox News, 2017).
Overall, by using twitter respectfully and in a correct manner, teachers are able to focus their teaching towards their students interest and needs and as a preservice teacher, I look forward onto looking deeply about the use of social media and how it can develop my skills to be a better teacher in the future.

FEEDBACK TO PEERS
Kimberly Bonjour
Great job Kimberly, really enjoyed your blog. I loved how you explained and listed ways on how video games can affect the students and listed the ways it can also improve them, from Improving motor skills, to social skills alongside cognitive skills. I also love how you put into place and listed relevant games that current students play, to make your blog more relevant into todays society such as Cool Maths Games and Mario Kart. The way you used Atanasova quotes to illustrate how gaming has been found to serve educational purposes has allowed the audience reading your blog that you have demonstrated your point of view by bringing along evidence from what you have research. A suggestions for improvement for your blog, is to maybe state how video games can affect those who have special needs or intellectual disabilities and how this can affect their learning. I have provided two articles which can help you with this suggestion. Overall great post!

Rochelle Monge
Excellent post Rochelle, I really liked how you started your introduction by letting your readers know their place by stating “obviously not”.  The way you mention phrases such as ‘almost unimaginable’ captures the attention of the audience as it seems it is being said in a dramatic and sarcastic tone, signalling that in todays society or as you stated the generation Z, it is almost impossible to life without digital technology.  I also liked to acknowledge the fact you also supported your statement by the referenced quote. Furthermore, I also liked how you added a rhetoric question at the end of your post, as it really captures the audience to think about the point of view you were trying to cross. On the other hand, a constructive point ill like to put forward is to maybe talk about the other side of this question and address why some people can still live without digital and communication technologies. But overall, you have provided a highly well written post with many examples. Great job!!

FEEDBACK RECEIVED
Jemma Douglas:
Hanesa, what an insightful response to the driving question. I really enjoyed the use personal examples throughout the piece and how you acknowledged the use of social media towards a young generations such as “shared a memory of your current ex-boyfriend”. Throughout the piece you only acknowledge the positive of twitter and how it could be engaged throughout education. Something you could incorporate is the negative impact towards the issue the journal article https://doaj.org/article/be49b1f0d4e54ac884fd158f3c946cd4 highlight the negative impacts of social media and addresses how many children abuse social media. But overall, great blog post Hanesa, you engaged well will material.
Rochelle Monge
The opening paragraph of your post immediately grasps the attention of readers with your use of inclusive language (e.g “we” and “you”). Using direct examples related to your target audience appeals to the interest and commonalities amongst your readers which makes the post more engaging to read. Your prominent use of first person language and anecdotal style creates level of equality between yourself and readers, therefore inclining readers to support your stance. However, I believe that your reflection could be further strengthened by clearly consulting your final opinion in a single paragraph seperate from the body paragraphs. Overall, great post!.

BLOG THREE: AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW CHANGES IN TECHNOLOGY IMPACT ON THE WAY HUMANS COMMUNICATE, AND THE ETHICAL ISSUES THAT SURROUND THESE CHANGES
From pigeons, letters to lanterns and now in 2019, I introduce you the mobile phone. Changes in technology has severely impacted the way humans communicate with each other. Have you ever felt lazy and decided to call your sister thats right next door?  Or texted “LMAO that just killed me” and just had the most blanked face with no expression?, don’t lie we all have done something like this before. Although using our phones can save us the time and hustle, it still isn’t the same as talking to someone face to face. But lucky for me, I will have anxiety and literally will fall into a pit of panic attacks if I have to talk to someone, even the waiter thats ordering my food. With all the technology present in our lives, it has the shaped the way we communicate whether, whether it be for the bad or the good.
From the rise of the internet and social media, this has changed the ways individuals communicate, maintain relations, life and work. And to be honest, probably for the better. It allows us to communicate with family and friends from across the world, rather than wasting so much money to visit them. Additionally, Allows us to make online conferences via Skype or face time (Wong, 2016). As since this is a massive benefit for students especially who are unable to attend their classes and are just able to watch it online.
However on the other hand, using social media could sometimes be misused which could lead to interfering with the individuals personal life. The ethical issue is the sense of security as this could lead to bullying, sexual experimentations, hacking, stalking and peer pressure and these are just a few factors which can contribute from the mishaps of use of social media (Mishra, 2015).
Overall, the use of technology in todays society has dramatically transformed the way we communicate with each other, although comes with a lot of benefits, we still need to take into consideration about the ethical issues that come with it.

BLOG 2 - GAMES ARE FUN BUT IS THERE MORE TO IT?
91% of American children between ages 2 to 17 or about 64 million children play video games. Personally, as someone who grew up playing a lot of video games rather than Barbie, I believe there is more to games other than fun. If it wasn’t for Minecraft, I wouldn’t have aced my geography in grade 6. In today's society, technology is rapidly advancing so much that children use it not only at home but also in classrooms. The generations of digital natives children have grown up with technology, therefore, being so natural to them.
According to Gamelearn (2017), the key of why we learn by playing games is that the dynamic of games (rewards, badges, competition, etc) help us to acquire knowledge easier and in a more entertaining way. Motivation is probably one of the most important factors that drive learning. When children are not motivated, the impact on learning will decrease and eventually stop. This is like video games, ever played Fortnite? it’s basically trash. Through one definition, cognitive science explains motivation is the individual’s willingness to make an extended commitment to participate in one new area of learning (DiSessa, 2000). Thus if a game is entertaining it allows us to learn how motivation is created and supported.
A benefit of playing games is that individuals are invited to not only be consumers but also producers (Gee, 2003). This relates to students as most likely they just consume information and knowledge given however this can teach them to put what they learn into challenges, make decisions for themselves and be encouraged to think outside the square. For example, players make their known decisions on what to build such as in Sims or what skills to upgrades such as in League of legends or moral decisions that impact the games such as in The Walking Dead.
Other benefits of video games are improvement of memory, attention, concentration, control, communication and social skills.
Additionally, as video games keep evolving, it will continue to further educate children in classrooms and improve their learning abilities.

BLOG 1 - TO TWEET OR NOT TO TWEET?
We probably have some sort of social media, whether it be facebook, twitter, snapchat, and how many times have we posted something when we were mad and then realise, you “stuffed” up or shared a memory of you and your current “ex” boyfriend and after 5 years later facebook decides to say “you have a past memory”. As studying teaching I believe that we should bridge the gap between formal and informal learning. We live in a society where social media has evolved rapidly and therefore instead of cancelling this practice we should take advantage and embrace it (Bouabdallah, 2017).
I admit I am guilty of using twitter, I use it more often than my other social media and that’s because twitter allows me to express myself, allows me to follow whoever I want and personalises my newsfeed to topics that I usually engage in.  This is also similar to how this can be used educational wise.  By using twitter, you can engage with other teachers (for example) and share ideas that may help them or yourself in the classrooms and use that tools to implement into your own classrooms and uncover new learning opportunities for the students (Creative Education, 2017). INTRODUCTION + ABOUT ME
About me
This blog is dedicated for my teaching degree (Primary) for ACU. The reason why i wanted to study education is because i really dont really know what to do in the future and i was like "fudge" it and now my student debts are shaking. I also studied nursing and psychology for one semester and after hearing that people will literally piss on you i gave up. even though i knew about it, like yes, im not that dumb surprising, i just got into a state of shock when the lab instructor told me the amount of times it happens. But on the serious note, i really do love kids and i want to be that person they can come up to for anything, be that openbook to them and be that person they can trust.
My passion is eating, like i will eat anything in front of me and that would be the reason why i always end up with a stomach ache or my doctors telling me that im overweight. I would also sneak and eat food at work (i hope my manager doesnt see this, but if you do, dont worry i wont call in sick this week, maybe next week).
Introduction
This blog has been created as part of the COMM140 Reflective blog assignment. The purpose of these is to illustrate my understanding of content which has been displayed during lectures and tutorials (which i never went to, jokes) and how to respond and provide feedback.
The blog is divided into 6 sections:
1. Introduction, about me and my statement of academic honesty
2. Blog 1 - To tweet or not to tweet?
3. Blog 2 - Video games are fun but is there more to it?
4. Blog 3 -  An understanding of how changes in technology impact on the way humans communicate, and the ethical issues that surround these changes
5. Blog 4 - Rewrite
