Verity is the most affirming person in Loki's life, like... She doesn't let them get away with the self deprecating stuff they've been going through since stepping into Loki's role from being Ikol. Up to meeting her their entire existence was tied up in expectations, in letting people down and carrying the weight of a seemingly inescapable sentence. The Old!Loki at the end of the AOA arch is the one who never met Verity. Who bore the weight of his transgressions on his own with no one to tell him he didn't have to, no one to see past the lies he told himself and allow him to come to his own rather than following the Mother's directives. But their interactions with the Young Avengers and Leah prepared them to open up to Verity. They were Loki's first friends. They started the process of cutting through the nasty things Loki told themself and helped them start to see the value in asking for help. Without the Y.A. and Leah, Loki would never have been able to become friends with Verity. Would never have taken the leaps it took to get free of the Mother's designs for them... And it pains me every day that though Billy considered Loki a friend (to the point of wanting to introduce Loki to his family), he and the other members of the Y.A. will never know the impact they had on the God of Stories. They'll never know what they helped create...

Well I guess I did fuck over the y.a. and my one ally from childhood and abandoned a hell hound that was loyal to me and I destroyed my predecessors future by ripping it from him and actually destroyed him in the process, betrayed the brother and father who loved me in the process. I mean I feel guilty as hell about it all to the point where it keeps me up at night and gives me existential fear and a fierce desire to repent and try to mend those bridges, but I still did those things so I guess you're right Verity: nope. Lies Loki: ... Verity says you're lying. I'm taking my future in hand. *proceeds to transcend the universe and becomes the ultimate god, and takes Verity with them* lol bye enjoy the apocalypse sux 2 b u.
