OH MY GOSH- THIS MAKES SENSE!

New headcanon: Filbrick sabotaged Ford’s science fair project. That would have let him do two things:  A) he could get out of having to pay for the super fancy - and probably super expensive - West Coast Tech (if Ford’s a genius he can make them millions no matter where he goes to university, right?) and

B) He could get rid of Stan. Ford would probably suspect him of breaking his project first, even if Stan hadn’t dropped his candy wrapper in the gym. It looks like Filbrick already had a bag packed for Stan ahead of time, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to say he was just waiting for an opportunity to kick him out. If Ford somehow didn’t blame Stan for his broken project, Filbrick was probably just going to kick Stan out once Ford left for university, anyway.
