“You're going by yourself?" Thomas asked in surprise. Normally, any other year he would jump at the chance to go with Lily, but this year - even though he wanted to go with her - he had a girlfriend and he had a certain level of commitment towards that even though she wasn't even going with him, really.
“What was her name again?” Lily asked light-mindedly. “I’m kidding,” she rolled her eyes since they all knew Thomas was the first to puff out his chest if someone had something to say about her. Given it’s almost been a year, the redhead had finally comes to terms and has accepted it. While the other witch might be a headache at times, well, always, she had to respect that Thomas liked her and that was all. “So that means you’re not going alone? Hm, that’s a shame I would’ve made you my plus one since I’m going solo this year,” she shrugged flippantly and continued to walk down the corridor with him.

“Fair enough..." Thomas said. "But it'll be..." He tried to find a word better than embarrassing. He'd discussed with Armand plenty about how he felt about his girlfriend's very public displays of affection.

“You’re not butt ugly. You still have to ask your girlfriend out,” Armand said.

"Maybe everyone should start actually calling her by her name," Thomas said, even though he knew his girlfriend was seen as an annoyance to most of the year level - himself, sometimes, too. "And no. Maybe... I don't know. She wants to go with her friends but she'll be with me too I guess."
Lily gave him a funny smile as he stuttered. “I may have a couple,” she said briefly. “And you? Taking Miss Killjoy?”

“It isn't the fact of whether I will ask or be asked," Thomas pointed out, albeit begrudgingly. "I'm going stag."

“You know, I’m listening to you run your mouth bout me being a sissy, but how come you haven’t asked anyone out yet for the ball?” He asked in return and arched a brow.

“Yep... Yes. Yeah. Yeah, just us two..." Thomas rambled. "You and me... But-but you probably have heaps of Yule Ball dates to choose from. I bet."
“Guess now it’s just you and me, huh?”

“...Great comeback," Thomas said after a while. "The Yule Ball's coming up; are you going to grow a pair and ask her?"

“You first,” he retorted.

“I know, it's disgusting, isn't it?" Thomas said with a small grin. "After all these years of us being messenger owls they've finally got together and left us in the dirt," he joked.
“What do you mean goo—” Lily was a touch offended that Tommy of all people wouldn’t let her in on the news since the two were always caught up in the middle of the two lovebirds. “Okay, never mind that. You’re preaching to the choir. Someday’s I felt the urge to just shove her to Armand and let them two idiots deal with it,” she uttered. “Ugh- enough about them I think I’ve had enough cuteness overload for today.”

Thomas rolled his eyes. "Oh get over yourself, wolf boy," he said and knew Armand would know he was only teasing.

He snorted, finding that highly unimaginable. “Yeah right. Like she’d ever have time to look at me.”

“Oh good, you do know!" Thomas said in relief. "I thought you didn't and I didn't want to be the one to break it to you. Took him long enough to work up the courage, eh?"

“Uh-huh. Guess your bestie forgot to mention that he’s taking my bestie.”

“I won't be surprised if she does, mate," Thomas grinned. "She was looking at you when you went to hand your stuff up to Professor Treemont."
“Well you never know. Next year I might be too busy once Dimples notices me and realizes I am her one true love…”

"Farm boy; nice one," Thomas laughed. He offered his hand out and shook hers politely. "I'm Thomas. It's nice to properly meet you, Kitt. Is that short for something?" He asked.

Oh, right…introductions were still a polite thing to do. “Kitt,” she introduced herself, stretching out her hand for him to shake. “What about you, farm boy?” She teased, an amused smirk falling into place.

"No," Thomas scoffed. "He might be going with someone else anyway. I'm going stag," he said and tried to seem proud even though he was quite bummed about it.

Lily sighed and gave him an endearing smile. “Gullible as ever, you are. So who’s your date? Don’t tell me is Armand.”

“You need to play next year and give me company on the bench," he laughed.
“I guess it’s first come, first serve and unlucky for you, but it looks like your brother snagged the Quidditch superstar title,” he shrugged.

Thomas laughed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I've grown up with animals around the house, cats, dogs, kittens and puppies, guinea pigs; it was like a farm," he joked. "I don't think I know your name, sorry."

"Honestly, I don’t know how you did it. The thing is usually a monster, I swear —- or at least it is to me." Maybe if she stopped shoving it off the couch whenever she was near the cat it would be nicer to her, but that was neither here nor there. "You’re like a cat whisperer, or something."

“I'm a good player, you dick," Thomas laughed since he knew his friend was joking. "Runs in my blood and all that," he rolled his eyes since he knew truly he was not as good a player as the other people on the team, and definitely not his older brother or dad.
“I think he’s just saving the team from losing,” he kidded and held up his hands as to show he was joking with a laugh.

“Ahh... Well I was just kidding around, y'know? Just... Just playin' a joke."
“You know what? You’re right. No guy has really gone through extremes to win my heart. I should cut him some slack and take him,” she mused after a while.

“Most likely," Thomas shrugged. "Sucks, doesn't it? I wish my dad would actually give me a chance sometimes."
“Sitting on the bench again?” Armand asked even though his answer was pretty obvious, but nonetheless.
