“Its like 90 degrees out... just get in the damn pool.” Thomas laughed softly, stationed behind the grill as he prepared the hamburgers and hot dogs. Other people from Kingsgate walked about the backyard, talking about their successes and high established lifestyles. “Do you want a burger or dog?” Thomas asked.
Holly sat perched on the end of the diving board, skimming her toes across the surface of the water. Her two piece swimsuit was still dry and she watched the ripples of the water as she swung her legs back and forth. “It’s too cold. I don’t wanna. Why is this such a difficult decision.”

Thomas glanced over at the girl, mid action of lighting his cigarette. “If there’s no judgement there should be no opinion, so then why are you opening your mouth and bothering me with your dumb question?”
No judgement whatsoever but are you sure you want to do that?

“You’re taking it... or else I’m just gonna leave it here.” He shrugged, not caring either way but he’d rather Kenna get the money. “I hate cats... I had a pet snake when I was little... and a dog... and a farm. But never a cat, nor do I ever want one.” Thomas explained, chuckling softly at the thought of being a hero. “Yeah, I guess I could help out some cute dog. Maybe I’ll adopt a bunch and just put all my money towards giving them a nice life.”
“Nevermind..” Thankful for getting the OK from the manager to have her break, Kenna took a seat across from him and shook her head quickly. “I’m not going to get that. I’ve told you, I am not getting your money.” She told him, kicking his foot gently. “So.. I am guessing you’re not a cat person then? That’s a good one, you could give a nice life to a dog that is in need. Be the hero of the day.”

“That’s bullshit because you took it off my plate.”
“No…no…no. This is my cookie. You get your own….”

“Who?” He questioned, not really paying much attention to people’s name in the town. Thomas shrugged, watching as Kenna walked off to continue working. “I’m not showing it off... I’m giving it to you.” He rolled his eyes, hating how stubborn she could be. He was only trying to help. “Good point... maybe I can find one without a leg. That’d be cool.”
“Sorry – I thought you were talking about the Daniels chick.” Kenna explained, hearing the so familiar bell from the counter that meant his order was ready. Not taking a moment to think about it, the blonde walked over – serving him a minute after. “Don’t show off your money to me, it pisses me off. You know it – don’t make me spit in your food.” Kenna murmured, narrowing her eyes down at Thomas. “I think they’re just fine. No problems, other than being abused. Some of them.”

“Sophia... my girlfriend.” Thomas clarified, leaving the money on the table. “True, but you’d be earning a decent salary and not have to be trying to grab tips.” He explained, nodding as Kenna continued to push for adoption. “Well, what kind of dogs are there? Do they have problems from being abandoned?”
Kenna looked down at him, then at the cash and she frowned; not even believing he was actually being serious. “I am not going to take that. Even if I am fired.” She told him, shaking her head. “Who’s Soph? And what store? I need the tips here. Yesterday a guy gave me a fifty dollars bill as a tip because I winked at him. I doubt I can make as much in a store.” Kenna responded, her eyes wandering around the small area – checking the costumers. “I’d go with adopting. Why bother to buy an animal in the first place? I’m against all these breeders system. No, most dogs are not sick. They were just abandoned or strays.”

Thomas followed behind her, laughing at the mention of massages. “I don’t think its for me... she’s gonna get a day at the spa and I get a day at the gun range.” He explained, plopping down in a seat as he flipped through one of the brochure packages. “Give me the best things you’ve got here... money isn’t a problem. I just want Soph to have an awesome day and leave feeling amazing.” Thomas smiled, pulling out a roll of cash, never paying with card due to tracking systems.
Leaning sideways slightly, Harper let her elbow rest on the reception desk. Her attention on the person manning the desk for a moment, obviously searching in her mind for something to complain to them about. Though, her gaze broke as Thomas spoke again, her head turning to him so quickly it threatened to click. Smiling, she gestured to chairs in the corner of the lobby before starting to walk to them so they could take a seat. “You do realise just how popular massages are with the males these days?” Harper replied. Her head shook at the following comment as she lightly pursed her lips. “Well, it’s worth a try. Selling tactics and all of that.” It was true, back in her ‘previous life’ being a North End resident, Harper had worked in one of the small retail stores and she’d learnt the basics of the trade of up selling to customers. Sometimes she failed to think when trying to sell spa treatments to the mega-rich. — not that she did that often, she left the day to day running of the spa to her staff.

“I am fuckin’ serious.” Thomas nodded, pulling out a roll of cash and placing it on the table like this was some kind of game. “Its yours if you get yourself fired... I’m sure there’s a better job than this shit hole. You could work at Soph’s store.” He suggested, shrugging at her suggestion of adoption. “Maybe... but I thought most dogs in shelters were sick and stuff.”
“You can’t be fucking serious. Don’t give money to people like me, you’ll end up broke in no time.” She advised him, not even thinking about the possibility of accepting any money from him without having to pay him back. “Don’t buy a dog, dumbbutt. Adopt one. Mutts are smarter and better.”

“Yeah, yeah.” He nodded, following behind her as he carried the boxes. “So... why’d you pick this dump?” Thomas asked, glancing at the apartment building as he followed her.
“Thank you.” Shiloh replied, already starting up the stairs. “Just follow behind me, please.”

“I’m like your sugar daddy.” He mused, smiling as she talked about him promising to treat her like a princess, though he never remember the exact words coming out of his mouth. “Fine, I’ll make my own fort and it’ll be ten times better than yours.” He shrugged, but felt a blush touching at his cheeks when she kissed them. Thomas glanced over at Sophia while they were at a stop sign, smiling shyly. “I love you too.” He spoke truthfully, reaching his hand over to take hers as he drove, laughing as she continued to talk. “Don’t worry... I already ordered a ton of food to be delivered from Leo’s... it should be pizza and chicken wings heaven when we get back.” Thomas explained, pulling into the driveway of their current house after the short drive. “Okay, bring the essentials... like the XBOX.”
“Twenty dollars? Wow Mr. Money bags over here.” Sophia joked as she looked over at Thomas as she buckled her seat belt. “Queenie? Really?” She questioned as she rolled her eyes. “Whatever happened to always treating me like a princess or whatever the fuck you maybe said awhile back.” Crossing her arms in her seat she tried to hold back a smile, “What if I don’t want you in the bed at all? I’ll make a fort by myself and say no assholes allowed.” As they drove Sophia looked out the window as the houses of her neighbors were going to be. Taking her eyes off the houses and put them back on Thomas. She pulled her seat belt back as she lfited out of her seat and kissed his cheek, “I love you.” Sophia smiled as she sat back in place. “Real question though – I know damn well there isn’t any food in that place up to my snacking standards and I’m hungry. Fix it.”

“If you get fired, I’lll give you $5000.” He smiled, assuring her that she’d still get the same amount that she would working here for the rest of her life. Thomas sipped from his beer, smirking slightly at her words. “Nope... but I’m thinking off buying her a dog to go along with the new house. I’ve always wanted like some kinda hunting dog to take with me when I go.”
“Look at you, coming up with ways to make me look hotter. I’m actually gonna try it, but if I get fired – that’s on you. I’m going to haunt you down, Witz.” She was not being serious, not at all. In fact, Kenna had used that trick against men and the tip was worth it. “Do you guys have a cat as well? Because that would make you an actual old couple.”

Thomas paused, scratching at his beard. “Uh... where were we going again?”
“Okay, I guess if I’ve trusted you to get us this far.”

“Hey, I’m just saying... taking your bra off and spilling a little water on your shirt to show them tits you’ve got hidden can go a long way.” He laughed, sipping from his beer before glancing down at his phone to shuffle through emails. “You could basically call her my wife... we’re like that sixty year old couple that swear at each other and eat too much takeout.” Thomas laughed.
“Right? I thought the end of the world was near or something.” Smiling down at him warmly, Kenna placed the small notebook in her pocket. “A bit more? I’m practically half naked under this shirt. I don’t feel like selling these any better today.” She commented, holding back her laugh as she stepped away from him. “I’ll be right back with your order and you can tell me about that girlfriend of yours.”

Thomas watched the blonde carefully, smiling at her comment before following her movements as she walked over towards the reception to bring him back a brochure. He chewed at his lower lip, examining the text to determine what would be best for Sophia. “What the hell would I get done at a spa?” Thomas questioned with a raised eyebrow, never thinking of going to a spa himself. He wasn’t one of those guys into manscaping and clear fingernail polish. “I think its funny that you’re bribing a rich person with discounts like they trying to save money.” He chuckled.
Harper matched his smirk with one of her own. “That’s the joy of women, Thomas.” She spoke as she shifted on the spot just slightly, her hands reaching to dress down her dress, grazing lightly over the fabric that covered her stomach. “Well done.” She teased, her attempt at thanking him for his half-assed attempt at a compliment. She didn’t really get many of those from Lanford residents. “Oh? Well that we can help you with—” taking a few steps forwards, heels clicking against the marble ground, Harper walked towards the reception, picking up a brochure from behind it. “Here—” she spoke, turning on her heel to look at him again, her hand holding out the glossy embossed brochure to him. “Back page. Everything her heart could desire is on there. How about you book for the both of you and maybe I’ll give you a discount.”

Thomas watched, knowing the whole time it wasn’t going to work but he just wanted to waste the girl’s time out of pure enjoyment. “Alright, alright... I’ll carry them.” He agreed, stacking the boxes and picking them up with ease. “Where am I bringing them?”
“That sounds like I’m not getting your assistance.” Shiloh murmured, lifting up a box on their own, balancing one on their hip before reaching down to drag at the other. “You see how this isn’t gonna work, right?”

“Yeah, a whole $20.” He smiled, watching as she climbed into the truck and waited for her to buckle. “Okay, Queenie... there is a bed in there. I bought a new King sized bed that way when you start kicking me I can roll away. Also, there’s enough room for a pillow fort.” Thomas explained, driving in the direction back to their house, determined to grab the essentials and start laying out the designs for their new house.
Sophia acted all surprised and confused,”Wait you have money?!” Laughing she shook her head. Rolling her eyes she kicked her feet as her tiny self was lifted off the ground. She decided not to fight it this time and thought she would just enjoy the ride. As she was sat back down she pulled down her shirt and looked up at Thomas with a smile.“You can start by calling me your royal highness.. Thank you.” She said in a playful tone followed by sticking her tongue out. “Wait really? Do we even have a bed or even just a pillow in there?”
