"And arrogance to match. Such a shame that that's often the case."
"I’ve heard that before," Katherine mumbled, taking off her helmet. "And you’re absolutely right, you should be impressed."

"Even the strongest fighter can be killed, Fíli. Protect yourself now so that you can fight later when you're needed the most." With a small sigh, Rin came to sit next to Fíli, hunched slightly, her forearms resting on her knees. "I know that this upsets you - and I understand why. I would try to fight it too, if I were in your position. Be wiser than I am. For your people."
Fíli just huffed at her statement but seemed to be more sad than his irritated sigh let out, then. “I am a fighter, not a sculpture made of glass.” Still, he seemed to give up, at least for now. His head low, he sat down. For he figured out that trying to argue with Rin was pointless. He had to take the other way.

"Quite a bit. Proper technique, for one - your skill with a bow is adequate, but your fighting stance when you've got a sword is off."

"What could you possible learn me that my uncle hasn’t already taught me? I mean no offense as I am simply curious as to find out why."

"If a twisted ankle stops your survival instincts, you're probably better without the foot." Rin muttered darkly, sending a warning glare back in his direction. "Move out," she said loudly, turning back to the rest of the group. "But we'll move slowly for Prince Limp back here." There was a mocking edge to her voice - but it was not entirely unkind.
"You would not,” Kíi growled, chin jerking upwards. He was taller, for one. And as much as he didn’t care for being called a prince, he had absolutely no desire to be debased as a warrior. Struggling to his feet, he fixed Rin with a sneer. “Fine. Lead the way, oh mighty one~” he muttered, shifting his weight to his left side. “You can explain to them your position when they have to amputate my foot.”

"He suspected - and did not want you to worry." In truth, it had been Dain that Thorin Oakenshield had told this to - and Dain who had told Rin. All that Thorin had asked of Rin was to keep his nephews safe, and to do her best to protect Erebor. His priority, however, had been his gold - a priority that Rin disregarded. "The details matter not. All you need to know is that you have to stay safe. And any precautions we can take - we have no other choice but to take them."
”Wait;; he— told you that? That he does not think he will— And did not bother himself with mentioning such thing to me as well?” He’s upset, slightly. It is not like he had not suspected anything, but still, he never thought it would go this far. And if it did, he certainly had the right to know.

"Yes. He also wanted me to train you and your brother a little more intensely before you embark on your quest."
"And he asked for you?"

"You are correct in that assumption," Rin inclined her head. "Your uncle sent for me. He was in need of someone to train soldiers."
"I take it you are not here for a pleasure trip or just to meet with your kin? Coming such a long way just for that seems hardly worth the time."

"Aye - a drink." Rin inclined her head before raising her mug as well, taking a long drink of ale.
"But even a crown princess should relax andhave fun from time to time" Kíli lifted his mug. "Let’s drink then" he smirked to her.

"If you don't get a move on, I will carry you." Rin threatened, her lips pursing. "And I don't think it's very princely to have to have your younger cousin carry you because your foot hurts a bit, now is it?"
"I have a nice beard than you,” he remarked petulantly, the statement be truth or not. Still, the archer did not rise — was not sure he could. “I can handle wolves. Bears.” As long as they weren’t wargs, or skinchangers. “My arse will be just fine, thank you.”

"Well, you should. I do not doubt that a war is brewing. The battle was just the beginning - you will have need for fighters soo." Rin's lips twitched at the questions, her gaze averting for a moment. "Well - I know that I am to become Queen of the Iron Hills - so I suppose to my hopes are that I can be a good Queen for my people."

"Hey, I don’t want to teach them for war but more for something useful. There are many needs for archers and hunters. And I will give something for the next generation." He sighed: "What are your hopes for the future?"

"Don't be foolish, Kíli." Rin barked, "There are wolves, bears, and Mahal knows what else in these woods. You stick with the group. The last thing I need today is to save your beardless arse from a wolf pack."
"I can’t,” Kíli insisted, reaching down the rub his leg. He could feel his ankle pressing against the confines of his boot as it continued to swell. “I’ll only slow you down further. Go on ahead.”

"Teach your guard. Your infantry will have little use for it - it will only slow them down. But the Erebor guard should learn, as you have the advantage of high battlements. If you're attacked, you'll be able to take them down from above and they'll be unable to retaliate."
"Well, I think I’d like to teach more dwarves to use a bow. We already have hunters but I think when I give my knowledge to more of them it can help for the future" Kíli replied.

"On your feet - I will not leave you behind, do you understand?"

"I can’t do this anymore."
