On the note of Australia following with age gateing YouTube and social media to be 16+, and the UK already showing how facial recognition AI being used to verify photo ID doesn't recognise tattooed faces/assumes the tattoos to be a mask.

While more common in Aotearoa than Australia, Māori sporting Moko live here too, and it's an entirely predictable disrespect to their mana to implement a system that can't even recognise their faces.

This entire scenario is arse backwards. Instead of focusing on media literacy and internet safety, interspersed throughout many different subjects of schooling, we are trying to prohibit youth access to the digital public forum in a world that no longer has space for youth in public unless they have money.

Teach how to interact with and analyse the digital world safely, don't put up bars.
