If u still do those Chaotic character things, can u rant about Tom risking his life for Kaz in Chaotic/Perim, despite it being very obvious their Earth selves would be absolutely fine no matter what, just because I crave someone else helping me to yammer about how Tom went into saving Kaz from the M'arrillians and flew his not-boyfriend out of a fiery explosion like a goddamn action movie
The answer is actually pretty simple! :D
It's because he cares.
Tom, for all his faults and his struggle to get there, cares too damn much about his friend. Chaotic is a game for Tom, it's a way of life for Kaz, and that's why he does it.
Of course he's not real, of course he knows he could lose everything, but so could Kaz -and that's more important to Tom. Chaotic is Kaz's everything; it's how he makes friends, it's his special interest, it's what brings him joy, and Tom will not allow him to lose that.
Tom knows outside of Chaotic he has other interests and hobbies, but Kaz struggles in that regard. Tom has an easier time in 'the real world' but Chaotic is Kaz's 'real world' where he finds value in himself.
And that's worth protecting.
So yes, this dramatic lad is going to do everything in his power to make sure Kaz can still come back to Chaotic. He'll risk his own ability to do so, he'll risk whatever he needs to-
Because that's what it takes.
His heart is too big for his own good, he runs hot with all of his emotions. Tom does not feel things in moderation, and when someone messes with something he cares deeply about, he will try to move mountains -especially if it's unrealistic- to defend it. It's why he's an OverWorlder; it's why I usually have Courage being his highest stat when I write Creature versions of him, it's that cornerstone of his character that makes him the protagonist.
He loves, and that's his greatest strength.
God I love this kid.

Apparently, Ulfhedinn got this new art before the game died as promo that I didn't know about until earlier this evening.

That's my main, but my Chaotic blog is foundfamilygetmeeverytime if you ever want to chat.
I think that most songs in Perim are either instrumental or chanting based. So creatures are really impressed when they hear humans singing with such broad range. Peyton is always happy to oblige any curious creature who hears about their unique way of singing.
My headcanon is based on how animals, which creatures are largely based on, howl or chirp but physically can't sing.

A human with the powers of ice walks up to chaor and challenges him to a fight. Master of the flame chaor vs master of the ice the human.
Headcannon.
Neat!
Not a headcanon, tho. That's an idea for a fic. You should write it!

Alt. Perim ideas - @actuallyastingray
Okay, so this is kinda long but I needs to be in a way.
So a few of my friends and I got on the topic of Chaotic coming back and we started talking about how they can introduce new creatures/locations without any, “ooh, look; crazy powerful new creature showed up on new location. Where has this been the last three seasons? Hell if we know”. I understand the Far-Frozen and potentially the Spiritlanders can be new tribes, but that wouldnt explain how new members of the existing tribes are introduced.
The idea is this: Perim is just one landmass on the (planet?). SO there have to be other continents with potentially their own creatures. We came up with a HC that at some point in the past, when the continents divided, some creatures from each tribe ended up on the now separate continents. Being now separate tribes, they wouldnt adapt in the same way.
The Alt. Overworlders we designed to be heavily Asian themed, drawing from Hindu, Chinese, Japanese, and some Polynesian inspired appearances. Think mythical beings like Sun Wukong, Agni, Hou Yi, etc. Their home is in a mountainous area, like the Himalayas (OVERworlder). In the week since we invented them, I will say they are sort of the least developed idea we had, but thats what we came up with.
The alt. Underworlders dont have the same inspiration as the Perim ones. Instead of demonic or cyborg beings living in a steampunk-esque society, we traded that out for a Victorian England style of living. The creatures are more horror movie based (werewolves, mummies, goblins) along with several cryptid-esque creatures (wendigo, Chupacabra). Most of the basic citizens have vampire qualities. The Underworld isnt located underground, but in a massive valley near to the mountain ranges of the Overworld, so they dont get much sunlight. A plot point someone brought up is that the hierarchy needed a rival, like Chaor with Von Bloot, so we thought that the throne could belong to a pair of siblings, with the current queen having ousted her brother for being a crazed tyrant.
The alt. Mipedians were fun. It started with the idea of “what if their jungle wasnt drained dry by the Danians, how would they have evolved?” We ended up with an Aztec themed empire, with the Mipedians having one of the largest territories on the new continent. Instead of being able to turn invisible, we came up with a new twist to fit the theme; being able to use mugic to “ascend” to a more powerful avian form; kind of like Archaeopteryx. It was all around the “feathered serpent” ideology of the Aztec gods. Speaking of gods, these Mipedians have a full religion based around the sun and the moon, just like the Aztecs. It was fun to work a ‘worked over’ theme of reptiles into something new.
The alt. Danians were basically us taking out our disappointment over the lack of diversity in the canon tribe. The alt. Danians are a conglomerate of different insects species, but they arent all necessarily one tribe. Basically, there are different 'broods’ of insects in the hive under different queens/brood mothers, with all of them falling under one matriarch of the swarm. We wanted there to be diversity so that they werent all just ants. (We even tried to HC that the reason all Perim Danians are ants is because when the continents split, only the ant queen was in Perim at the time) Back to the alt. Danians; they live in a massive, misty forest on the edge of a scrub plain, trying to include as many habitats as possible. Their palace is in a gigantic tree that dominates the region. Their lifestyle is very druidic; they see the forest as their first line of defense and source of food, so they religiously tend to it. Unlike the Perim Danian hive, this hive is much more democratic then other tribes; the queens/brood mothers all can voice their opinions, but the matriarch usually has last say.
Just one of the ideas we came up with, and it was fun working on it. Next task is to figure out, theoretically, how this could mix into the show.
These are all really cool! As for how it can fit into the show: Kirvac Mound. It’s not just time travel, it’s also possible timelines and space travel. Perhaps there’s a reason a particular tunnel is kept nearly sealed, and curious Players discover a new reality, or -like in some of my more intense AUs- it gets blown up and now elements of different realities come crashing together to create cataclysmic events.
#chaotic#thoughts on the show#this is cool!#my only criticism is to remove w*ndigo because it's a First Nations creature#not cryptid

I wish we see more of Creature families (I still headcanon Accato as Maxxor's cousin/nephew) and also fluff episodes. Also, after seeing Shazam and its Seven Deadly Sins, imagine those guys in Perim.
yeah I think they don't because like... they don't have cards.
The creatures are so varied because they're designed individually by random artists off deviantart (love that fact tbh), and not designed from the perspective of 'what does this species look like'.
But yeah when Maxxor mentioned his father who ruled the Overworld when he was young, I was thinking show us him! Do it!
Or Antidaeon (i.e. Duck Dad), who is clearly great with kids. I'd love to see his nieces and nephews or the village kids in his hometown or something.

Now that the concept is solid enough, my (experimental) headcanon for Earth in Chaotic.
Takes place in the late 2030′s, starting in ‘38.
Society and culture isn’t much different from today. Trends have gone and new ones are coming, or being revived.
Homes and businesses are mostly the same as well. Tech similar to what we see in Chaotic has existed for years but only recently appeared in stores and on streets.
Behind closed doors, technological breakthroughs are happening left and right. Progress has most notably been made in robotics, cyberspace, and even teleportation.
Through these, the theory of alternate universes is unintentionally confirmed, creating the foundation for perhaps the greatest game franchise the world has yet to see.

“Good evening, Alice. Your Chaotic virtual assistant here to inform you of… six unlistened voicemails. Play now?”
…
“Alice, it’s me, Henry. When you get back from vacation, we need to talk about the CodeMasters. Their behavior lately has become… suspicious.”
…
“Tira here. Alice, I heard about the situation mentioned by Henry in your last voicemail. If action is indeed needed for the council, do not act. I’ll… take it from there.”
…
“David here. About our last meeting. I wanted to clarify. My point was while our efforts to keep Chaotic, the virtual reality secret have succeeded, we still need to watch out for the handful of players who do manage to convince people of its existence. If the wrong person finds out, we could be in trouble. Aleph doesn’t appear to be taking that seriously. Uh, don’t tell him I told you.”
…
“Hello, Alice. This is Aleph, your new boss. But you should know that by now. Tira informed me you were questioning my reasons as to suspending the Chaotic Crisis control program. It’s quite simple. There’s no way the creatures could even reach Earth. Not with our new security measures for Chaotic. Even if they did, they wouldn’t pose the existential threat feared by your previous boss. It was a pointless project eating precious resources. I understand your concern, but there is nothing to worry about. Now, I’m not going to demote or fire you. There will be conflict with these sorts of things… Meet with me when you return from Jamaica.”
…
“Hey, it’s Jin. Any leads with finding the original task force? Aleph’s becoming impatient. Says he has big plans for Chaotic, but he can’t open the door without the people who found it, the keys. Well, I’ve got nothing. It’s like these researchers fell off the face of the Earth when the game went into development. I’ll take any ideas you’ve got.”
…
“Alice, it’s Gareth. You talk to Bridget recently? She’s still taking sick days and I can’t reach her. Probably still shaken up by that creature memory. Can’t say I blame her. That was… brutal. Let me know if you hear from her, okay?”
…
“End of messages.”

If there was a creature or creatures interested in hearing some human literature, what book would you bring?
An anthology of myths from around the world! I think it would be cool to highlight all the places Players come from and share popular tales from our world. Heck, it might explain why some Players think of Creatures in ways typical to their pop-culture or mythological counterparts.

At this point me being a Chaotic fan has just boiled down to:
has pages of headcanons that don’t have any canon backing
develops unhealthy obssession with side creatures that have no personality
rants for half an hour about a concept that was mentioned twice
complains about Perithon
writes entire doc with an explanation of Perim prepared to dump on anyone that shows even the tiniest interest in the lore
“It’s a little cheesy but I swear it has a really good story”
makes Hearring and Bodal memes
simps for Intress
annoys people by constantly bringing it up
overanalyzes the politics of each tribe
continues complaining about Perithon

Chaotic Headcanons
1. There’s a team of photographers that go around Perim taking pictures of creatures from a distance or artist with sketch books that follows creatures and they’re stealthy as a ninja. They since their pictures to the card artist back on earth.Than, they used the pictures as reference to created cards. This explains how the card artists get the likeness of the creatures on the cards.
The rarity on the cards is based on how was to got a sketch or picture of a creature.
2. There’s a technician that makes sure that the code and the robots work properly. Codemasters report any errors or malfunctions to the technical and they can’t do anything until the technician gives the thumbs up. The technician has a workshop under chaotic.
3. The spiritlanders were descendants of creatures from all the other tribes that formed the tribe because they all either infinity loss fate in their tribe for peace with the others, were banish for not following their tribe ideals or felt to form their own tribe to be far from the wars.

Peace
He jolted awake when a twig snapped next to his head and he heard a startled shout.
Blayne immediately froze, eyes open on reflex and slowly sat up in the long, soft grass. He must have drifted off under the cozy warmth of the sun, the occasional rustling of the breeze a whispering lullaby. It was a day like any other, which made his surprise at being interrupted all the more great.
“Hello?” He asked out into the air, turning his head slightly towards any noise he thought might have been the intruder.
There was a muffled footstep off to his left, then a low voice. “I apologize for disturbing you.”
Well, he hadn’t been expecting that.
“Nah, it’s okay,” the boy shrugged. “It happens sometimes. The woods are big, but they’re not empty.”
“So it seems. But why are you sleeping here? Why not your own bed?”
“Cooped up at home, and we’ve had bad weather. I love rain as much as the next guy, but spring thunderstorms scare me.”
“Oh?” There was a spark of interest in the dulcet bass.
“Too loud,” the boy admitted. “Went on all night. Besides, I miss the sun.”
There was a hum of assent, and the shuffling of feet in the grass. “I can sympathize with that,” the voice was closer now, almost at his side. A light scent of an earthy musk and the smell of the spiced candles that dominated the OverWorld’s libraries for their inability to burn parchment.
‘A scholar?’ The Player wondered.
“Do you mind if I join you?”
“Not at all,” he smiled as the other settled down quietly in the grass.
There was a quiet exhale as the Creature took a seat, and the Player could practically feel the stress they exuded.
“Been a lot goin’ on for you, huh?”
“How would you know?”
“Well, I mean this in the most polite way possible, but sir, your vibes are accosting.”
“I’m not sure I fully understand.”
“You’re as tense as a bow string.”
“Ah, yes. It’s that obvious.”
The boy grinned, “yup, even I can see it.”
That elicited a small chuckle.
“Is it something you want to talk about?”
“Not particularly.”
“Fair enough, then.” He shrugged, no need to pry into things.
Silence elapsed between the pair shortly after, the warm gaze of the sun slowly lulling the Player back to sleep.
