Remember when your child cries or sheds a tear, it may not be the end of the world but for them it's not pleasant and there is ALWAYS a reason (albeit small) for why they are upset. If you dismiss or reject their emotion, you are simply blocking them from feeling and in the long run this can be a challenge for them as they won't be as emotionally intelligent or prepared to understand why they feel sad and may not even express it. ---------------------------------- Let them express their sadness. When one pauses, this allows the mind to process the thoughts in such a way that it filters out an undesired reaction and progresses towards a desired response. The hardest thing to do in life is to undo what is already done correct? So if you act on something and the reaction it produces is one you wished you could have changed, this can be done by "practicing the pause". ---------------------------------- The pause doesn't necessarily mean to literally pray, as not everyone can relate to a prayer. The purpose of the pause is to focus on your breath or anything that enables you to connect with your own inward self and understand in this pause why your thoughts are producing a series of emotions and the way the body is manifesting this emotion. You will never experience the flamboyance feeling of it unless you go far and beyond your comfort zone. It's like swimming through dark, murky, muddy waters and feeling toxically breathless. You want to cut the limbs off your body and crawl into a hole of nothingness. Somewhere along that long road of leg fits, you will get an illumination of awesomeness, it will last a whole 47 seconds and you could possibly hear a combination of drums and base or guitar strings or even a sexy saxophone that are all in unison to seduce you forward. Suddenly once again you will suck. This pattern of suck-awesome-suck will last for a while. Out of nowhere, one day you be gliding on smooth waves where your demons take a back seat on a plush sofa and your legs choose to float with heightened perceptions of crisp clear awareness. You will even learn to love the suck and the soreness felt will translate to badges of honor you will collect through every journey you make. Living will have a whole new meaning in your dictionary; it will be alive with that extra topping of euphoria.
