A: It's not necessarily always a lie, but he'd almost always perceive it as a lie and that's "I love you"

Due to how they grew up he thinks that people say "I love you" because it's a social norm. Like if you're in a relationship you have to say it or you have to say I love you to family members. He doesn't trust that anyone ever means it when they say it to him, but they like to hear it and pretend they do anyway.
