this took about eight hours, I’m pretty sure. It’s watercolour and prismacolour pencil. Ran out of watercolour paper and used some I took from class but it’s fine. I have! replenished! my stock!! so all is well.

in terms of the actual process *takes deep breath* well at least it wasn’t William Shatner. Anything is better than trying to draw William Shatner. That’s next on the list (because I enjoy torturing myself) but for now - Spock!!! he wasn’t too hard, although the eye placement was a lil frustrating. I’d love to do this one again with new paper but we’ll just have to wait and see.

There is something about proudly proclaiming a show "tumblrista catnip" that makes me emotional.

Something about how for years tumblrinas were ridiculed by show creators.

Something about Supernatural having a meta episode set at a convention with all the weirdo fans that made the main characters uncomfortable. Something something about Becky and the message that fangirls are gross and obsessive.

Something about Sherlock and the way fans were portrayed as crazy obsessive nutjobs for trying to figure out how he faked his death.

Something about creators mocking fandoms, dismissing them as freaks. Something about queer people not being welcome to engage in their creations because "why do you have to make everything gay?"

Something about the malicious culture of queerbaiting throughout the 2000s/2010s, followed by Bury Your Gays tropes across the media landscape because hell, you should be grateful we even gave you queer characters to begin with - and everyone dies in our show! You ain't special!

Something about Destiel questions being banned from conventions...

And then...

Something instead about Good Omens, and letting the story adapt naturally, embracing the fanbase and leaning into the fanservice.

Something about Our Flag Means Death, and the genuine outpouring of love and affection between cast, crew, and fandom that culminated in an explosion of fanworks that were never once mocked or deemed gross or wrong.

Something about Sandman, and staunchly digging in their heels on the queerness of it all, refusing to give in to the homophobes and instead avidly mocking THEM on social media rather than us.

Something about the writers hearing about fandoms favourite ships and excitedly stating that YES! We DID lean into that because it happened naturally and made sense.

Something about a firefighter coming out as bisexual after 7 seasons...

So yeah, something about a new high quality show made FOR US. By creators that love US. Respect US, and WANT our love.

Something about US FINALLY being a target audience for the best shows being made on TV now.

Tumblrista catnip. Creators saying "we made this for you. You are important. Your voices have been heard."

It just... all got a bit overwhelming for a moment there.

When I was a very small child, my mom used to bury coins in my sandbox, leave huge boot prints in the sand, and tell me pirates had come in the night and buried treasure. Hermitcraft but it’s a bunch of hybrids trying to learn what it’s like to be human while trying to hide the fact they”re hybrids from eachother (while none of them even are human) , so it’s just approximate guesses and rumours about how they act . Tango walking up to skizz and seeing him glow in his sleep and trying to figure out how to do that himself, cuz all humans do that, right? Joe accidentally walking in on Cleo changing out a slightly old , green-tinted arm for a new fresh one, nodding along trying to memorise the process. Scar looking at mumbo wearing a large sun hat / bringing a parasol on their walk and then bringing himself one the next time because he doesn’t wanna stand out! All humans hate the sun! Etc, etc

the one issue about the hermit post system is that when you receive mail, the shulker box doesn't state who sent the mail, unless the sender wrote their name down on a piece of paper. because of this, hermits are able to frame other hermits by sending mail using another hermit's name, while the real sender is left anonymous.

while joel is away in japan for two weeks, it's a perfect time for pranking!.....etho

-on stream, cleo said that they are planning on filling joel's mailbox with love confessions from etho. for example, "this made me think of you" and "do you like me? check yes or no."

-someone left a "love joel x" sign at iskall's base. as a response, iskall is spamming joel's mailbox with love letters and flowers, saying "hi x" and "thinking about you x". the thing is... iskall didn't leave his name on any of the notes he sent.

alongside cleo's love confessions from etho, it is very likely that joel will think iskall's love letters are also from etho. it's boutta be the "joel xo" and etho statues all over again

anyways, the hermits are having too much fun with the mail system, which is great because pearl, etho, and tango worked really hard on it. all i know is that when joel comes back online, he's gonna have a big surprise waiting for him lol
