You are so real for this!! And just for you, I made two different outfits because I couldn't decide if I wanted to be silly or actually give him a normal outfit LMAO

I've never seen this guy wear non-tight pants though so how realistic this is based on his apparent taste in fashion is... well... ANYWAYS.

We got one casual fit and then one that I took inspiration from the Pokemon-inspired fits from Cynthia and Skyla in Masters. Except I was really craving ice-cream, so Cheren's summer fit is an ice-cream man inspired by Vanilluxe💀 Maybe he can serve Casteliacones??

and other lies to tell yourself (ID under cut. it’s a long one)

[ID: A digital fan-comic for Sky: Children of the Light. The first panel sets the scene: a once-homely room, now in ruin, washed in a blue light. Two figures sit huddled beneath a table. The first, the Nesting Guide, and the second is their mentee: dressed similarly to the Guide, with short-cropped hair and a chime hanging off their belt, the Stalwart Apprentice sits in their mentor’s lap. The second panel is a close-up of the Nesting Guide’s face over the Apprentice’s shoulder, sweat running down their face as the apprentice says “Umma, I’m scared”. The next panel shows the extent of their fear, eyes haggard behind their glasses, trying to bury their face in the Guide’s clothing. The Guide responds, saying “I know, little one.”

The next panel shows the Stalwart Apprentice’s hand wrapped around the Guide’s cloak, gripping it with fear as a growl rings out. “Umma,” they start, before being cut off. “Teth told me something, when I was younger.” Says the Nesting Guide. Their face is shown, afraid but set. Teth, the Forest Elder, is then shown standing with the hand up, feeling the raindrops. “I’d asked them how they never get hurt, when we walked in the rain.” Continues the Nesting Guide. “They said that every member of the kingdom had a spot, somewhere in the forest, where the raindrops would never touch them. It was only a matter of finding it.”

The next panel shows the Guide with tired eyes, pressing their Apprentice’s face into their shoulder. The source of the blue light, which was once to their right, is now almost head-on. “I think you have a spot like that.” they say.

The last panel is a wide shot of the room, showing the destruction. Pieces of broken architecture are strewn around, and the back wall is half-missing. The room, and the two inhabiting it, are now completely shrouded in red.

The Guide finished their sentence: “In my arms.” /End ID.]

Someone give me prompts to draw Cheren with, I'm itchin to draw him (as usual) but I need new ideas

I can probably draw him with other characters but it takes me a while to master drawing them (why I haven't shared any Bianca art because I haven't nailed her look yet 💀)

The fact that my art has changed so drastically because I just... draw Cheren too much is insane. He just satisfies that itch in my brain because he's simple. Not in a bad way, just in a "wow, this character design doesn't require me drawing 5 million different accessories"

I appreciate a design that's simple but memorable y'know?

Literally sharing this because i spent $50 for a White Flare deluxe booster pack (I was influenced 😔) and I got meh pulls... but at least I got Cheren!!

I also got a cool design of Stoutland and Liepard, which I think is funny that I got in the same pack with Cheren

Do you think Mizi had a higher intimacy rating with Ivan (75%) than with Till (30%) at least in part because of their conversation in the True Face comic?

Like, Ivan is nice to her and they talk and hang out sometimes, which I’m sure is on par with other students, but unlike other male students (sorry to put you in this group Till), he doesn’t “like” Mizi that way.

He doesn’t want anything from her. He doesn’t even want to watch her from a distance like some sort of goddess (so sorry again, Till).

There’s no ulterior motive for him to be friendly to her.

Maybe Mizi could sense that?

She could be friends with Ivan without having to worry about him taking the things she said or did the “wrong way.”

He wouldn’t misinterpret her taking a nap on him or asking for a piggyback ride as something romantic.

She was comfortable around Ivan.

Maybe Mizi even felt like she could trust him? Or at least not have her guard up.

Now that’s not to say that she distrusted Till or thought he would act like the blond guy did, however—

I can see why she would feel less fond of Till versus Ivan.

And the fact that the first thing he said when she asked why he liked her was because she was pretty made things worse.

Till didn’t like Mizi because of her personality.

He liked her because she was pretty.

Shallow. Surface level.

He built up this fantasy of her in his head and that’s what he loved.

Not her.

Just like all of the other boys “circling around her all the time.”

This is my favorite panel in the comic, because it says so much about what Mizi’s thinking without her having to say a word.

The dull look in her eye.

“I see. You’re just like all of the others.”

An invisible string between them is severed.

Mizi is the only one who notices.

This conversation also recontexualizes a lot of other art we’ve seen of Mizi and Till interacting.

She’s not oblivious to his blushing or how he stumbles over his words when talking to her. She knows what it means and is purposefully ignoring all of that because he’s her friend and she wants him to stay that way. Nothing more.

This is the second time Mizi is shown telling Till directly and in no uncertain terms that she likes/loves Sua, and I can imagine the fact that he doesn’t seem to take the hint would make her keep some distance.

It’s her way of protecting herself.

She doesn’t want him to be angry.

Saying no could be dangerous.

The last time she rejected someone it ended in violence.

(Again, not saying Till would do this, but Mizi doesn’t know that for sure.)

She has to be kind and sweet.

She has to let him down gently.

She has to say no in a roundabout way.

She has to tread lightly. Watch her words. Her physical contact. Even how long she looks at a boy so they don’t get the wrong idea.

And if they do, it’s her fault.

Whether or not Mizi knows Ivan is gay doesn’t really matter either.

It’s about the security of knowing you can just be yourself around someone.

It’s about feeling safe.

Safe enough to take a nap, even.

You might be wondering... Thry, why are you so fixated on Cheren? And let me tell you something.

I don't know either! I just fixate on different comfort characters all the time, and for the past year, it's been this smartass.

Which has led me to grow a collection of Cheren-related things... especially Pokemon cards.

Behold. My growing collection of cards with Cheren. I've spent probably $37 in total? For all of these cards (the Stoutland one was a PSA 9 that I smashed out of the case). See, this is why you can't trust me with my own adult money because I just start collecting 💀

I think one day I'd like to have all of the Cheren cards that exist, purely for the sake of finishing the collection...

I'm going to need to buy a whole lot of toploaders
