“Fine”

That wasn’t exactly something he should have said to her. Without a word, she climbed up onto the bed and stretched out beside him. Boy, the bed was soft. She crossed her feet and wiggled her toes with a smile.

He stared at her, the only indication of his surprise were his eyes. Despite his sickness, he still tried to keep his composure. Kureto tried to say something but was interrupted by another coughing fit.

It took a while before he calmed down. Then he glanced back at her.

“....You are pushing your luck.”

When you try to run from your responsibility to finish a drawing and just sketch the current king of humanity instead.

He stared down at the cute puppy at his feet. Just staring for a bit before kneeling down to it. Well...seems the experiment was a failure... 

For some reason he didnt really mind at this moment. Instead he petted the cute little puppy and gave her belly rubs. This was his niece though...

He had somehow turned his niece in a puppy.... it was a failed experiment, but he didnt feel bad about it at all. Instead he just looked around and made sure noone saw him while he gave the pup belly rubs. 

It was such a cute puppy... He briefly wondered if there was a need to turn her back at all.

“You are a good girl, right?”

She had never seen so stubborn of a man! He must have gotten it from his father.

“Eat the soup or I’m going to play the part of a life-sized hot water bottle and I have a feeling you’re not going to like it. You need to get and stay warm.”

She neglected to mention that she was there because no one else wanted to nurse him back to health. Though, she had a feeling he already knew that.

He coughed yet again, feeling miserable. unimpressed, he looked up to her through tired eyes. 

“I`m not a kid.”

He´s aware that he had to get warm, thats why hes in the blanket. It was comfortable and yet he was still freezing. But he is not going to drink the soup. He didnt like it. So he just refused by turning the other way.

He gave her a tired look with his reddish nose while sipping the tea, made by Cassandra, since he refused to drink the soup, also made by Cassandra.

After a few weak coughs he leaned back on the pillow, fluffed by Cassandra, while pulling the extra blankets closer, that were brought by Cassandra, and picked up the hot water bottle… also prepared and brought by Cassandra. 

He sneezed into another handkerchief, before lying in his blankets…

Since he had never been actually this sick before, he wondered whether dying feels like this…

He gave her a tired look with his reddish nose while sipping the tea, made by Cassandra, since he refused to drink the soup, also made by Cassandra.

He had hated that Guren had found him in this vulnerable state, weak, sickly and pathetic… Kureto never got sick before. Never. So this illness sure had caught him off guard…

He had expected the usual guren-like remarks from him, that wasnt surprising. 

Would Guren use his vulnerable state to kill him? Definitely not, Kureto was certain of even that.

However, what DID surprise him was the fact that Guren seemed to have taken it upon himself to tend to him and nurse him back to health,since Kureto didnt want to call for a servant…

Thats why, due to some odd twist of fate, he ended up lying in his comfy bed,under the warm blankets with his fluffed pillow while Guren was in his kitchen, trying to cook. 

He just stared at the ceiling, wondering whether this is what people call a fever dream…

“….Oy, guren, I´m not actually hungry. You can leave”

“….What is this…?”

He squinted his eyes at the drink his sister just handed him. It didnt look nor smell like something humans drank… 

He coughed hard, covering his mouth. It was a painful cough, he could feel the pain even in his lungs… He was rarely ever sick, but he wondered why this time it was much worse than usual. Naturally he didnt make it obvious that it hurt though. He was a Hiiragi. So instead he just looked at her sighing. 

Why would his sister bother with this, he wondered…. Mahiru had always been an odd one. To be fair all his siblings were odd, but Mahiru probably took the cake... 

“Did you make this...? Should i worry about whats mixed in this?”

“Because it’s Christmas time and you should spend it with friends and family. Work can wait until tomorrow”

She was starting to actually worry about him. When was the last time that he got to sit and enjoy himself?

“Besides, I need someone to share a drink with since we’re the only two adults here”

“I`m aware of that but i dont think ive ever done that for christmas before….”

He blinked at her with a hint of curiosity in his eyes. She was certainly an odd one….

“I dont drink though….”

Lies,sometimes even he enjoyed a sip of wine or sake in a peaceful moment.

She almost choked.

“There’s a first time for everything. Who knows? You might actually enjoy it. As for the drinking I’m inclined to believe otherwise with a job like yours.”

She crossed her arms over her chest.

“At least stay for a little while.”

She was going to add that it would make them respect him more if he was willing to put in the effort but decided she didn’t need to.

“i highly doubt it…”

He sighed deeply and thought about it….  eventually he gazed at her and sighed again,wondering if this is really necessary. But he might as well find out….

“….One drink”

If hes here already, he might as well try it out…

She smiled and started to mix him her favorite drink. Kraken mixed with Dr. Pepper being her alcohol of choice.

“Here”

She handed him a glass with a smile.

“I hope you don’t mind the hard stuff cause that’s what I got. Now let’s go join the other’s shall we?”

“hm, how do you know how to mix this stuff? And i dont mind, thank you.”

He never got drunk that easily, it would be embarassing for a Hiiragi to do so…

Kureto nodded at her, might as well get it over with… maybe just shortly and then leave. He walked by her side as they went to join the others

“There are books on mixing drinks. Though, I learned this one by experimentation. It’s also the only alcohol I can get drunk off of and not have a hangover”

It didn’t take long for people to start snacking when they realized the food was out. After a while, she went out to check the turkey and bast it. The smell was starting to waft into the living room.

He sipped it and hummed, it was delicious. Well, this was also a way to experiment... He might actually start liking this drink... in that case he will have to call Cassie to make him this specific drink once in a while.

Because of her, he mingled a bit with his subordinates, before cheking on the turkey.Naturally he didnt forget about that. But he was surprised to see  Cassandra already there.

“You really seem to know what you are doing when it comes to drinks and food, huuh?”

       Ａ ＬＩＧＨＴ ＲＯＳＥＹ ＴＩＮＴspreads onto his cheeks as the older man ran his fingers through his hair, so gently and carefully. He couldn’t help but instinctively tightening his arms around Kureto, as he laid his head on his shoulder’s. In a casual and relaxing manner – it would seem rather questionable and perhaps, rather silly, to find two grown men in such a position – but they could care less as they embraced each other. 

      ＷＩＴＨ ＨＩＳ ＨＥＡＲＴ ＲＡＣＩＮＧ and beating against his chest, he closes his eyes to relish in the warmth of the other. Oh how rare times like these were, where they could embrace each other without having to worry nor think about anything else. In his arms, he could hear his demon’s loud cackle be nothing more of a soft whisper, and the dreadful torment he has endured for all these years were no more than lucid nightmares. Though it was a foolish act to escape this reality, a brief moment – just a little – to breathe before continuing on this life – was more than he could have ever asked for. 

       ❝ Thanks for the offer – though I’m not sure if I’d have a valuable reason as to why I suddenly ask for a hug from you ❞ An amused smile slipped onto his lips and he pulls away just a slight bit to tilt his head up and meets his gaze. Meeting those vermillion gaze that he found so warming and comforting, he couldn’t help but stare into them deeply as he said, ❝ You’re tenser than usual – is everything alright? ❞

It was an odd and foreign feeling but certainly very welcome... warm and comforting. He didnt mind. For once, only in front of this person, he can just lift the facade for a moment, relax a bit and catch his breath.  It was very odd how a simple hug could make him feel so much.

He could even feel how Guren tightened his grip, enjoying the embrace as well...He would have never thought that there would be the day where he let someone hug him, that he would trust someone enough to get so close and embrace them... And yet here he was.

When Guren moved to meet his gaze, he stared deeply at him in his amethyst eyes. Eyes, shining with something different from anything he knew before. odd indeed... Guren has always been an odd one, but it were these moments that were the weirdest... Guren had always treated him differently from his friends and it gave Kureto a strong sense of satisfaction.

Now if only Raimeiki would shut up so he can fully enjoy this moment. 

He sighed and gave the other a smile.

“You are aware you dont have to give me a reason, right? You can just do it. And im fine... i guess its been rather stressful this days...”

Absent mindly he leaned his forehead against Gurens, an act noone would ever see him do, noone except this man in front of him... 

And his annoying loud demon.
