"Hey, Sis! Siiiis! You're here, right?" Heizou was being annoyingly persistent on purpose, but he'd found out that was usually the quickest way for him to get Saiki's attention. She could definitely be a hard one to track down sometimes -- and that was saying a lot coming from him!

"Do you have any plans on Thursday? 'Cause if not, I was wondering if you'd wanna go out for ramen with me. It's not gonna be anything fancy, but...I do still owe you lunch from last time, don't I? Consider it my treat."

it'd only been a few minutes of her twin brother's yelling, but that wasn't enough to keep Saiki's eyes from rolling once she'd stepped out of the estate to join him at the 'gate'. While her reaction had been good natured and paired with a small smile, the staff had already started questioning him; why would a doushin be yelling for her? Why would he not just come in to the estate? And for that matter... Why yell?

Because that was just how her brother was, she'd reassured those asking in passing... And now, with him standing before her, she couldn't help but prop her hands up on her hips and look him over, from head to toe and back again. "You could've just come in, you know. Just because you're a Doushin with the Tenryou Commission doesn't mean you can't set foot in the Kamisato's estate." And even if it did? He was, by all technicalities, family - he couldn't be stopped if he really wanted to visit, and they both knew that much!

But whether he'd come in or not, he'd still successfully gotten her attention and a smile along with it, shoulders shrugging. All that just to ask if she was free on their... Even a glance down to his chest couldn't hide the warmth in her gaze. Sure, he'd remember because it was his day, too, but that he'd come to include her, wanted lunch with her, had come out all this way to ask her if she wanted to... He didn't have to say it for her to know what he was doing, and for that, Saiki's head dipped into a slow nod.

"I think I'm free - But you have to let me treat you to desert, too. I owe you a snack from the last time we worked together, don't I?" Two could play at this game - Especially when her glance up to meet his gaze next came with an unspoken 'love you, Hei' she didn't dare speak aloud in fear of ruining the moment.

Another birthday - another year - in Inazuma... It probably would've sounded silly to Heizou, but Saiki couldn't wait-!

At his reminder of the report, the Operative's eyes rolled. Of course it did... She'd have expected nothing less from a hotshot new to his command, thinking they had free reign to go off under his more relaxed leadership. It wasn't a particularly common occurance for her to put recruits like that in their place by losing her temper quite like she had, but it wasn't uncommon for her to step in and teach them the ropes as Childe's right hand, either. This time had just come at a point where she'd been particularly snappy, and it was always easier to offer up the Operative married to the harbinger as a scapegoat than admit they'd tried to start something with her. Nothing new, really.

And just like all the other times, she'd shrug her shoulders in the most nonchalant way possible. If they wanted her to play bad guy, she'd take the role without complaint! "Then next time, don't assign me to the new recuits. You know we get handed the troublemakers. It's their own goddamn fault if they get a smart-ass mouth and get put in their place for it." But at the very least, his reminder she didn't need to start a fight to see him quirked her lips into a half-smile; how was he it he always know what the root cause of her issues was so easily like that?

"He snarked, I smacked. Simple shit, Aj. It. Was. Deserved." Another shrug, another deadpan look - Though at the very least, the small smile she wore wouldn't fade, taking a bit of the edge off her irritation. "You want them to stop writing reports on me? Remind them I'm not their damn scapegoat. Or you could just fight me yourself in front of 'em and remind why you put me as your right hand. Shit won't get out of order if they remember - Until the next bath of new recruits. Then you could put Kyr in charge of them or something. Let him lose his temper over hotshots and shit. 'Till then... I'm gonna keep slapping. And if it means I get to see you..."

She'd finally lean forward them, smile breaking into a smirk.

"You think I have a problem with being studied by those gorgrous eyes of yours, Lord Tartaglia~?"

" Except you know this report makes you out to be the primary aggressor though, right? I don't think I can twist 'he was in my spot' any other way except you being a troublemaker. "

This kind of exchange wasn't anything new though. In fact, Kag was often the subject of the petty injury reports that were periodically filed for his attention. Childe never acted on them because rummaging through paperwork was a detested part of his duties and any file with 'Kag' as the main 'problem' often went stamped as 'completed and reviewed!' and was just as quickly discarded.

But 'official paperwork' still wouldn't stop the Harbinger from slinging an all-knowing smirk across the desk to focus on the just as smug Kagota. He could probably already guess what she'd done just from her stance on the matter!

" You know just because you haven't seen me in a few days doesn't mean you can beat up on your unit so you get 'sent to the office' on the first day I'm back either. That's abusing your power- "

"Sir - Lord Harbinger, there's been an incident-!"

Once Childe looked away from the report he'd been offered, the sight she'd presented would probably be a familiar one - Kag had taken to leaning back in her seat, arms crossed over her chest, and a completely unamused, blunt expression stared back, completely ignoring the small cut on her cheek. He had to take incident reports seriously, she knew that. If he was going to keep his men under control and working towards anything actually productive, he needed to take the reins and be a leader, but...

"He asked for it," she'd eventually offer, leveling her unamused stare on her husband's familiar dull blue. Sure, she hadn't needed to start a fight based on a pointless, dumb insult from someone new, especially when they weren't yet aware who she was and just had a habit of shooting their mouth off, but all the same, nobody had told her not to, either! She'd been in need of an outlet, far too many things on her plate and time away from Childe making her temper relatively volatile, and it'd just led to an explosion - The report was justified, she'd never deny that. Still...

"So I gave it to him."

Just dropping in as an update: I'm not dead! XD I'm kind of back on a semi-hiatus for a bit, which I should've mentioned weeks ago I'm aware, but haven't had the chance to - There's been a bunch of offline stress creeping up that's sapping my ability to function a lot of the time, and I've been dealing with a couple particular health complications causing mild pain, but enough to keep me distracted from actually being able to write like I want to. On top of that, I've managed to get very sick and have been largely stuck in bed for the better past of over two weeks, with a fuzzy head that keeps the muses awake, but my ability to actually word at bay.

At this point, whatever ability I have to actually write is going to background updates - Some of which will be happening on this blog today, provided the stressors don't decide to be jerks for once - and off-dash rp, as well as working on my thousands of icons I have in my backlog. I'm trying to get back on blog for actual rp stuff as my health fluctuates, but I just wanted to drop in and note I'm not gone - I'm just sick af, and incredibly sorry to anyone looking for me for the sudden (total) radio silence! <3

Oooh, he'd brought out the Harbinger card - And as much as she wanted to tease and play around with him over it, she wouldn't. If the roles were reversed - And they had been, not more than a year and a half or so earlier when they'd been in Fontaine and he'd been arrested for... Whatever reason they had down on file there - then she would've gone in with sword at the ready in a heartbeat, too. The sole reason she hadn't then was because of their daughters being newborns and her need to cover for his disappearance, but without those factors? Meropide would never have seen her coming!

Not only that, but she could fully understand just how much he'd needed her back in his arms, Kag's silence broken by a soft hum and a snuggle deeper into his hold. Truthfully, she'd been craving nothing but herself; the distance had felt like it'd worn down their very soul, and she'd needed his touch to metaphorically 'recharge', somehow - Things she couldn't explain, and didn't quite feel like even trying to right then. He was too warm, too comfortable, too wonderful for her to bother caring about such small details for the time being, and she'd be quick to turn her focus back to solely him and his ruffled feathers, blue eyes drifting closed.

"You've got a promise, but... It's not like I asked for that shit either, Aj. I had a job to do, I tried gettin' it done, I got caught. I didn't expect it to take so damn long to get sprung out of that, y'know? Thought I could get out and back 'fore shit got out of control... Couldn't. Didn't meant to make things fall apart." Did entirely mean for her finger curls to turn into soft, almost apologetic scratches against his back, though, a slow and deep breath in focusing on the familiar scents surrounding him.

"Would've paid a damn lot of mora to see you come in with bow at the ready, though. We know I can take care of myself, but shit, that'd be kindda..."

Kag didn't even know the half of it, he'd quietly ranted to himself! It wasn't so much 'things falling apart' just because she hadn't been there, but the fact there'd been more chores to tackle than Childe obviously had the hands for. He'd somehow managed, but not without running Tonia, Ren, Rei, and Kyros absolutely ragged for the sake of keeping everything under control.

Childe definitely owed all four of them some well earned compensation as thanks for the past month -- though, that wouldn't stop him from huffing against the top of Kag's head to show more of his displeasure. He was definitely glad she'd managed to make it back to them, but-

" Just promise me you won't let anything like that happen again. Alright? " Childe couldn't help but fuss, despite his chin being plopped on top of Kag's head in an affectionate gesture. " And if it does, then you'd better actually find a way to tell me and not just disappear for an entire month like you did this time instead either. If things are gonna fall apart that bad just because you're not around- "

" Then that's something that obviously needs a Harbinger's interference. "

It was a pout she'd try to brush away with a soft kiss, though she knew it wouldn't change the fact he'd been on his own with an entire mess of things hanging off his shoulders for far too long. Her capture had meant the entire household and then some had been thrust into his hands, and while he'd had Rei, Ren, and Kyros to help on top of recruiting Tonia... They all had their own lives to tend to, too. The twins were in the process of being reconnected with their parents, Kyros had his own family to keep up with and the unit to look after whenever she couldn't, and it sounded like Tonia had done the best she could - there would be no simple 'kissing away' of his pout this time, no matter how much Kag wanted to.

"I'd imagine paperwork and dealing with things isn't all that easy with a baby stuck to your hip, no," she reasoned, playfully nipping at his lower lip. It wasn't like she could whenever Niko cried either; as Childe's right hand, she picked up whatever work he couldn't and still had the unit to lead and run, as well as helping around the house as much as she possibly could, but... Even with a full plate, she still had more time to carry him around with her than Childe did, and often tried to, just to keep some semblance of 'quiet' whenever work still needed to be focused on and tended to.

But with the baby down for a nap and their daughters distracted with the mentioned lamb toy, she'd decided she wasn't moving until she'd smoothed her husband's ruffled feathers, repeatedly curling and uncurling her fingers in the fabric covering his back like a kneading cat. "I'm sorry. I would've been here, you know. I got myself locked up, and you'd think getting out of there was no different than getting Ren to not fuss over everything and anything. Damn glad to be back, but... Shit, Aj... Put a little bit of distance between us and everything goes to shit, obviously."

" Of course I did, but only once Tonia promised to help me out. If not for her, then Niko would've had both my hands tied behind my back! And that was before doing anything with the girls, too. "

Childe had all but been soundly defeated by the three children while Kag had been away, but he'd never admit to something like that so easily! They'd been handfuls, but he'd managed to cut a few deals with his younger sister and recruit her to be a temporary babysitter so he could at least get a little time to himself -- even if Tonia had been just as unsuccessful as he had in getting Niko to calm down for naps and food.

" But I can tell you right now that Niko doesn't care much for Sofia's lamb or Anastasia's blanket. I tried both of those and they only kept him quiet for a few minutes before he was back to being fussy again. The only thing that kind of worked was keeping him plastered to me like you do sometimes, but I can't keep that up for as long as you can right now. "

Especially with Kag missing like she'd been, Childe had to keep up with his duties plus some. It'd made him feel awful leaving Niko to fuss, but Childe had definitely been spread thin - and his pout at Kag would make sure she knew that much, too.

Having just missed her sister-in-law when she'd gotten back, Kag hadn't had a single clue anything had been awry, least of all Niko having such a fit - Enough so her nose scrunched up with the way he'd trailed off, smile falling just slightly. He didn't need to explain or detail anything for her to pick up on what he meant, and she'd dip her head into a nod a moment later, recalling the fussy, upset baby she'd had to calm before she'd come to search Childe out. "Mhm. I thought he just hadn't slept well and wanted us to know it." The nursery had been a little chilly when she'd been in there; it was easy to assume he hadn't liked something and wanted her to know it through having a fit, but it also hadn't taken him long to calm once she'd gotten him in her arms and started talking to him, either. Getting him down for a nap was somewhat easier going after that, though even she wouldn't say it was particularly simple, either. Niko was difficult to get to sleep without one of them at his side, but the little boy she'd had to soothe had been more upset than usual, turning her gaze up to meet his own blue.

"Nothing else worked? Sofia used to only calm if we had that little lamb toy my mother made for the girls somewhere nearby - Did you and Tonia try that? Or that soft blanket Anastasia likes... For that matter, did you get any work done? I get captured for a bit and my entire household goes to shit-" That had been a tease for the sake of making him smile, slipping her hand from his hair in favor of wrapping her arms around him, but the questions still stood; just how much chaos had come from the distance between them...?

" They're kids, so of course they did! I even had to recruit Tonia to look after them for a couple days while I got some of my work done. According to her though, the girls really like her. Niko, however- "

Even Childe would admit, their little Nikolai was already turning out to be a handful - even for him. Apparently Tonia had mentioned he'd get into moods where nothing could soothe him to the point he'd scream and cry himself to sleep. Childe had almost started to wonder if it was just where Kag had been 'missing' for so long and Niko had been throwing a fit because of that, but their only son threw the same types temper tantrums even with Childe, too.

A trip to the doctor had revealed there'd been nothing wrong with him, so with a sigh, Childe had just mentally resigned to the fact that Niko was a true Kagota boy. She'd definitely need to make up her disappearance more with him than she would the Harbinger.

" Please tell me you've at least gotten him to settle down for a nap already? "

If he'd been expecting a serious answer, he wouldn't get one - not at first, at least, the Operative's tongue sticking out as a tease designed to calm those very same hints of annoyance and frustration. No matter how much she claimed to have had it under control, there was no hiding she hadn't at this point, and frankly? She was tired of hiding it, sliding a hand higher to run through her husband's hair.

"Exactly what it sounded like. Got myself caught up in some shit I couldn't get away from, got my reports delayed... Whole lotta shit I never want to get stuck in again." Details weren't important, of course! The more she detailed, the more irritated he'd get, and the point wasn't to rile him up - It was to calm him down and enjoy the chance to be at his side again, fingertips skimming over his scalp in a light scratch. "Point is, I'm home, handsome. Kids didn't drive you too crazy while I was still locked up, right?"

Peck - One more quick kiss, this one with a subtle reminder: You know the training room exists for later if you want to get those frustrations out still, right?

" Yeah, but 'being rescued by this handsome man' still requires you to actually tell me you were locked up in the first place! All I kept hearing from you were 'Don't worry, I've got it!' and 'it'll be taken care of soon! I sent in a report-' "

He'd admit, the whole situation was amusing now that Kag was safe and sound back with him. So much so, that her kisses would be met with just as many right back -- but his expression would still hide the slightest hints of annoyance and frustration in it, too. Didn't she think that being 'locked up' was something that should've had more urgency to it than what she'd gave it?

" So I don't think you should be allowed to get rid of me until you tell me what happened. Don't you think? "

"Eh, a little here, little there, little getting locked up for a while... Same damn chaos I've always been in. Wouldn't have minded you coming to save me, though - Handsome man like you~" Flirting? More stolen kisses? A cup of his cheeks with both hands to pull him in for one after another? If he didn't know she'd missed him, he most certainly did now, especially when a flurry of kisses came with a bright and happy laugh! "But I'm here now, and if you think you're getting rid of me then you better have a damn crowbar, Fish~!"

Happy Birthday, Thoma!

It's customary to give the house a thorough cleaning at the beginning of each year to usher in the fresh start ahead.

So, I woke up early this morning and made sure to clean every corner of Komore Teahouse. It looks as good as new now, doesn't it?

And while cleaning, I happened to find the toy that Taroumaru had been searching for ages. When I cleaned it and handed it back to him, haha, you should've seen the joy on his face.

Look, he's still so excited. Wanna play with him?
