I Tried adding a "brushed metal" type texture with a nice pleasing red to purple gradient to a menger sponge. It looked good, so I made it spin, And then I turned it into a GIF (It's pronounced Gif not Gif)
Here's the Gif, a PNG, the MP4. (I can't find the original BLEND file), Oh yeah, I use Blender and Gimp for all my Photo and Video editing needs (Free and Open-source all the way!)
