CG artist - Sculpting, Rigging, Texturing, Rendering. Primarily a secondary holding zone for my art; which is generally monsters and dinosaurs of various stripes/spikes/spots. Expect a lot of Monster Hunter stuff. Commissions are available; feel free to contact me here or on Discord @tidypachiderm . Yes, Pachyderm is spelled wrong in my discord name. I never get to this name first.

Some shots from today's stress testing of the current version of my and PB472's in-progress Great Maccaokret mod. Still a lot of bugs to iron out (like the eyeballs being entirely outside of their sockets, sorry for the visual) before its anywhere releasable; but this is a real thing that is happening and will continue to happen until it has happened.
In the future, we will all have Maccao.

Hey everyone! Newest monster hunter remake here – Great Maccao! Never actually fought the guy; but did my best on capturing his vibes in a more modern style. Done as commission for TheOneAndOnlyDarto.
This was a complete ground up rebuild of the model; with a new high poly sculpt (around 19 million tris in total) and a new painted set of 4k textures. Model is rigged and will be available as a 3D print at some point down the line.
And yes; before everyone asks me about the obvious thing they might imagine it being used for – a replacement mod for the Seikret is already in progress (thank you very much to PB472 for implementation there) and will be available eventually; though its still in barely in beta and will come out when its done. WIP shown here:

Another VRChat commission; a creature from the game Limbus Company (I think; I just do what I'm told here). Part of a series of pieces I've been asked to do from this game for use as custom game avatars.
Tried to get as close to the stylization of the original sprite as possible; which did necessitate some compromises but I do think I was close enough that I had to include a turnaround to prove it is actually 3D. Uses a hand painted main texture, a glow and transparency map for various effects, and features an inverse hull outline (isolated to specific regions on the model) for a bit of extra pop.
About 14k tris; a little higher than strictly needed but a lot of that is the polycount being duplicated by the inverse hull effect.

Another Godzilla commission I was asked to create as a VR Chat avatar. Game ready resolution; around 20k tris (the spines are poly hogs no matter what) with a pair of texture sheets to handle the glow effects.
Based on an old concept by FredtheDinosaurman on Deviantart. All flat shaded; the apparent bounce lighting on the body when he glows up is just painted on.
Another fun project even if I don't quite have the right pop in my stylized stuff where I can't hide my shortcuts in the mess.

The ancient Keptos (or Keputosu, there's no official anglicization), a fish eating monster that appears in some Monster Hunter concept artbooks as a hypothetical prehistoric stem bird wyvern but which has never actually been in a game.
Until now, hopefully - I was commissioned to work on this by a mod team who's looking to insert it World at some point, although there's still a lot of work before that can happen. Still; the model is game ready and optimized for a real time environment so a lot of the foundation is laid.
This was a really complicated project for me; unlike a lot of my previous monster rebuilds I've done Keptos only exists as a pair of sketchy and contradictory thumbnail concepts from an artbook made during a very different era of the franchise; its functionally an original monster beyond the broadest outlines of the design.
Quite satisfied with how it came out though; and I got to reference a lot of little bits from many of my favorite looking monsters across its design.

A new piece I've just wrapped up - Titanosaurus from the Godzilla franchise; based on a design from Godzilla artist Matt Frank he did a billion years ago for his Godzilla Neo fan project.
Was asked to do this as a commission, but happy to make this guy anyway - he's only ever really been in one movie, where he's stuck playing second chair to a more famous and better villain monster the whole time, and his costume looks terrible, and his role in the story doesn't make a lot of sense (a shelf-brand Showa Scientist has been ostracized from the world stage for... believing in a giant sea monster, but like not one of the 5 that have destroyed the Tokyo Tower this financial quarter alone?) but having all that stacked against him gives him that scrappy underdog charm.
Model is game-spec at around 30k tris; with the intent that it be used as an in-game avatar for stuff like VR Chat. Textures are mostly hand painted with some procedural detail from a high poly sculpt. Don't usually do stylized stuff like this so this was a nice change of pace.

And here's the behind the scenes images. Textures are mostly hand painted; but I wish now I'd put a little more texture into the sculpt itself instead of trying to fake most of the micro-details with materials, which did broadly work out but still isn't quite as crisp as I'd like it.
Sculpt took about a month, on and off, and then I did the painting over the course of a long weekend. Environment is just a procedural displacement on top of a plane.
Feel free to message me or reblog with questions if there's any part of the process you want info on, or if you just need close ups or pictures of something that isn't shown here!

Odibatorasu - another Monster Hunter Frontier fella that I have never fought and probably never will, but have been asked to recreate as a modern asset. Probably my most involved work yet; this guy is colossal and needed a lot of bespoke details over his huge bulk that took me about a month of sculpting.
The low-poly is around 100k faces; high poly was about 30 million and he uses three 4k texture sets. Will show off some behind the scenes stuff in a future post.

Hypnocatrice! A monster from games I didn't play; so I don't really know what this thing's deal is. Probably Bird Element attacks; maybe he shoots eggs at you. I will never solve these mysteries, but I do think I did a solid job with the model.
Around 5 million polys; 4k texture set, all the feather elements are done via hair particles. Done as a commission for @theoneandonlydart

Hello! I absolutely love your work, you've done a great job especially at updating older/simpler models to World standard! I noticed you sculpted an Oltura at one point; I have a friend who loves them and would be very interested in commissioning a printable STL file that they could use, is that something you would be able to provide? Thanks for your time!
Hello Ohanodyne - someone actually beat you to the punch; check out @wdnrbm on twitter or here - he's already been given my model; converted it to an STL, and is in the process of printing it too. He might be willing to share this completed file for a fee; he created it as commission by the original commissioner of the Oltura model who has authorized the sale of the original; so I think its likely we can arrange for you to purchase the STL as well.
Let me ask some of the parties involved and get back to you!

How much do your 3D model commissions cost?
Hey; I've gotten that a few times and unfortunately for easy marketing that answer is 'Highly Contextual'
Price sheets are a bit tricky for 3D because it depends heavily on the complexity of the model - that said; a fully rigged and painted character model is usually around 200-400$; though obviously it can be freely reposed and re-rendered as many times as you want once its made.
If you're just looking for a sculpt without painting or rigging that's usually somewhere between 100-200 depending on what you need sculpted; characters or objects with more bespoke parts or non-repeating surface details can take more effort and therefore cost more.
I also do more than just raw 3D models; I can also re-paint, modify, or convert for 3D printing preexisting models if you have one from a game or similar, usually for a much lower price then a fully original work.
So the best way to find out is always to DM me and tell me what you're looking for specifically; and I can quote you something from there!

Kinda outside what I suspect any of my followers consider my wheelhouse; but I recently did some experimenting in extremely fast turnaround, faux-2D character art for potential projects/commissions and thought I'd share the results. I've seen some efforts from other artists in that area and no one has *really* cracked it in my opinion so its the kind of white whale that every 3D artist tilts against eventually.
All of these are 3D models; all made in a single day while trying various things. Mixed results in my opinion, but I feel like a version of my basic process can probably be made to do more of what I want with a bit more tweaking.
Also yes; all of these are HIDEOUS from any angle that isn't camera view; its very funny.

Some behind-the-scenes looks at my Guanzorumu model; the raw painted colours, wireframe, and a colourless render of the geo+normal, respectively. The original high-poly was around 15 million polys, and the final model is around 80K with two sets of 4k texture maps. Both sets contain a diffuse, roughness, and baked normal maps, as is standard, but there's also a transparency map which creates the frayed wing edges and a translucency map that adds a bit of glow-through on the wing membranes as well.

Guanzorumu, The Conqueror Dragon
Another commission; just finished! Or mostly finished; but any additional tweaks would be behind the scenes stuff. The fire elements were some shutterstock grabs, but everything else is original modelling.
One of the more reasonable Frontier monsters; though I still made some pretty notable design changes to it in the process of updating it to a more World-like standard.

I'm not sure if there's much interest or benefit to posting work in progress stuff here; but this is going to take at least a month more to finish so I figured it would be good to at least get something shown in that huge gap - work in progress recreation of Guanzorumu from Monster Hunter Frontier; commissioned project.
This guy has so many goddamn scales.

Hey; its some Jojo's Bizarre Adventure art I did a while ago! I'm a weirdo who's favorite part is 8, an opinion I hold because it rules. And Tooru is the best main villain in the franchise, and Wonder of U is the best villain stand.
Final Destination: Magritte; whata concept.
I need to get better and manually sculpting fabrics.

Cobrasaurus - Commission Work
Newly finished today! This was done as a commission and was based off an existing concept by artist Laurent Demettre, which can be seen here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/w8egow
The model I based this off of was being sold for use in games/personal projects, and I was initially contacted by a client who just wanted someone to tweak and re-rig it, but then I got kind of carried away and just remade the entire thing from scratch to meet the aesthetic needs of the project - client wanted it to be a bit more Monster Hunter and I ran with it. Client seemed pretty happy with what I did, even if my sleep schedule regrets it a bit.
I started Friday; then tried to crunch it into a single weekend as a deliberate experiment in optimizing my workflow for this kind of project - I think it came out pretty good even if I can see all of my shortcuts.
