My work from home set up. I think it’s important to create a space for yourself that feels productive and clean. Being home so often is a challenge in itself as there are countless distractions and it’s a very different atmosphere. Sitting for 6+ hours, straight, for my work is not the easiest or most entertaining. Jumping out of the bed, and creating some structure, a sense of normalcy, and peace in these crazy times. Hoping to be more productive and focused this way!

Call me your Pinterest queen! My new project is to revamp and create a plan to utilize our Pinterest as a business platform. I’m doing endless research, creating a plan, and will start content next week. I have created an informal deck, that I received great feedback on! I’m excited to dive in and see if our Pinterest activity will increase traffic to our site and socials within the next few months! This is a screen grab, two weeks after my revamp. We’re up 82% on impressions, and I’m really proud of our progress. I will be working on improving our link clicks next.

Weekly meeting, miles away! We have been and are going to continue to zoom once a week to reconnect as a team! As of now, we’re focusing on internal projects, specifically revamping our personal brand and social media projects and initiatives. We’re also planning a philanthropic event in collaboration with Zoom and some other brands in order to give back to our healthcare workers during this time. Zoom meetings now and forever! I miss the office and being able to be with each other in person, but in the mean time, this will get me by!

Heading home due to COVID19. It’s been a chaotic few weeks as events have been cancelled or postponed, and we’re trying to adjust as a company and team. I decided the best thing to do would be to head home. I’ll be continuing to work with SOS from home, however the transition to remote work will be interesting. My boss is incredibly supportive and understanding during this time, and is prioritizing our own safety and well being. As a team, we put together a NYFW recap for our audience to enjoy in the meantime.

When I first started college, I thought I was going to go into the fashion industry, go to NYU Stern and get a fashion and luxury MBA. My goal was to work on the executive and corporate end of an iconic fashion brand. As I gained professional experience, I decided to change paths and grew interested in startup and boutique firms, over corporate. I didn’t like the work culture of the fashion industry, so I decided to leave. Now, I find myself in an internship I love, a small company with a work culture that’s very startup-y. And one of our main clients is Art Hearts Fashion. I get to help plan and manage NYFW, LAFW and Miami Swim Week. I’ve dreamt of being in the presence of these shows, and I thought I walked away from it. But now I get the best of both worlds. I will be focusing on creating and managing a team of volunteer interns for the duration of the Fashion Weeks in order to get some management skills on my resume. I can’t wait!

Brought my dog to work today! Perks of working in an animal friendly workspace: I get to bring my best friend with me! She got a lot of stares, only barked once, and was great all day! My boss is a fan, and can’t wait to see her more. My dog is around to help manage my mental health, and it’s important to me that my future job will be accommodating to her needs, whether it be a day to work from home or a dog friendly work place! Work culture is important to our job satisfaction, and a dog friendly work place is definitely a plus from me!

Got to show my team around Abbot Kinney before heading into my other job on the street. We recruited potential vendors for an upcoming event. I find my skills lie in interpersonal connection, so I had a lot of fun today meeting new people and building potential connections. Our team bonded and it was a ton of fun, walking around and exploring the street! We got lunch, drinks, shopped around and explored all the quirks of Venice! Plus, they visited me at work and delivered some treats along the way! Can’t wait to see some local vendors who I’ve loved and admired for so long, at our upcoming events.

For about two weeks, we’ve been staging the Manhattan Village Shopping Center for potential shops and buyers. Manhattan beach is a very affluent area, however being a beach town, where individuals dress very casually and in athleisure, people who don’t know the area may not be aware. We had a lot of high end shops visiting, and our client wanted them to look the part. It was basically staging the mall, and was a ton of fun! I learned a lot about managing individuals, learned more about doing some sneaky pr work, and got hands on experience with clients.

(Please excuse the candid language) First week, and I nonchalantly brought up to my boss, and the CEO of the company, places I think we can improve upon. I suggested working on our PR and building a PR portfolio and look into revamping our branding to make it more consistent and updated! It was received well and has been made my project! I’m excited to leave my mark on the company and do some meaningful work. As I began the project, I realized I was a bit in over my head, as I have not been with the company long enough to know where we’re heading and what we represent. I will spend more time doing internal research and getting info from my boss!

First day touring our office space. Cross Campus is an open concept collaborative workspace. A lot of interesting and innovative people and companies from all different industries work in the building and I can’t wait to join my team! There’s free snacks and cold brew, kombucha and beer on tap! Our team puts an emphasis on treating all workers, including those who manage the building, with kindness and grace! There’s weekly events for everyday of the work week. Whether it’s yoga, happy hour or food, it’s a great opportunity to be a part of the community and to network and connect with others!

The followup email that started it all! My acceptance: officially a part of the Style On The Spot Team! I was hired as the PR and Social Media Intern! I originally reached out to interview Cachita (the CEO) last semester for my capstone project. I ended up needing an internship, saw a posting from her company on Handshake, although not in my area of focus, I applied, and then reached out through a mutual professor about any availability for a position that might better suit me. I interviewed twice, and got the job!
