i typically hate the 'girl dresses/looks like a boy and plays on boys team' but both me and my boyfriend were so flabbergasted at the fact that apparently girls are (implicitly) forbidden from playing in the FF/FFI so he was like "make charlie crossdress" and here i am now. infodump below + general charlie lore

charlie's grandparents own a logistics company (funny because tora's father works at a logistics company hey ho!)

so her dad is the CEO. mother is .. i dunno, probably also doing some high-earning job

so mr kidou and mr dumont r AT LEAST BUSINESS ACQUAINTANCES because their companies like interact or whatever the fuck. mr dumont travels a lot bc part of his company is in japan.

kidou got adopted when he was 6. charlie's mother died when she was 7-8. i saw they'd have met within that year and become decently acquainted. hung out and played soccer or whatever? the fuck?. and when mrs dumont died then mr dumont probably stopped travelling as much. visited about once or twice and then just stopped

i think it'd be incredibly funny if during the whole aliea spiel kidou went "i know a guy" and charlie appears JHFGJKH

after all the aliea business is when she's like "can i move to japan" and her depressed ass dad is like "yeah sure whatever i hate my stupid baka life"

so i thought it'd be really funny if in S3 when they're all being scouted for the Japan team hibiki just decided to throw charlie into the mix. understandably she is very confused ("But Coach I'm a girl" "Yuh" "Isn't it forbidden for girls to play in the FF teams" "Yuh" "???") but through certain shenanigans she ends up playing in that little deciding match anyways with some level of crossdressing and is surprised when Kudou selects her as part of the representative team bc. well. she's good at the game. but also he totally knows about it and just doesn't give a damn bc. he's kudou.

and it's never really something that's a major plot point but more so an ongoing bit because charlie doesn't really enjoy presenting as masculine. she's a rich little diva princess at heart!! she wants to style up and look pretty!! when Japan gets invited to that funny little dinner party hosted by the England team she gets SO excited and goes all out but the team is like "Charlie what are you doing. Charlie we're going to see a rival team change before Coach Kudou sees you" and she complains but complies...

meanwhile the entire time kidou is trying his best to respect both the situation and charlie's feelings because it must definitely be stressful for her but also damn she's still really pretty even with the crossdressing....... idk they just kinda make me giggle

(charlie also definitely looks at some of the other guys such as kazemaru/aphrodi/midorikawa like "was this REALLY necessary tbh")
