Tried a #vegetarian #sloppyjoes recipe I found on #pinterest the other day. Lentils aren't quite a direct substitute for ground beef but it generally worked pretty well. I did cook it down for longer than the recipe said to though and added a bit of cornflower to thicken it up a bit. Served with scotch roles (slightly more dense than burger buns, held up to the lentil mix better), lettuce, cheese and yoghurt. Not the most elegant dish but not bad really. Went for a pre-gig #ChickenBurger and Beer at @othersidefried in #Brixton. After a bit of a nightmare journey the small, friendly restaurant under the arches was a welcome sight so I picked up a classic burger and a pint of #camdenhells. The burger was tasty. Very tasty in fact. Well cooked crispy but moist chicken, a nice buttered bun, and classic lettuce and mayo. But maybe a bit small and tad pricey. But a good overall sandwich. Would I go back though? It's Mexican food day at @commongroundoxford c/o @elantojito.oxford! I went for the beef barbacoa and everything was just so tasty especially the home made, light as a feather corn tortillas. So yeah #ChristmasDinner yesterday went well. For the main proteins I went for a Turkey breast and Pork loin done in the slow cooker which turned out great and, importantly, retained the moisture of the turkey. Also have to give a shout out to the M&S Spanish pigs in blankets which were mini chorizo sausages wrapped in iberico ham in a honey glaze. Yum! #trftumblr https://ift.tt/2QjjvUu

@emiliedeq and I had little trip to London last week so we popped in to @thedineruk in #Camden for some pre-gig food. I had the DCB chicken burger with bacon, and monterrey jack cheese and Em had a Veggie Hot Dog with extra blue cheese (which wasn't vegan but then neither is she) and we split a side of cajun queso fries. In one word: Excellent! American style diner food the way it should be done. The service was a tiny bit slow, particularly when trying to get the bill, but the server was very nice and considering she seemed to be on her own for most of the time we were there was doing a great job. In that there trendy London yesterday with Mr. Crouch and we stumbled across Tokyo Diner on the edge of #ChinaTown. We both got exactly the same meal of #Katsu curry and a cheeky #Sapporo but the star was the fried chicken #karaage with a squeeze of lemon. Solid, comforting "Japanese" food for a decent price.
