Deathloop slab only Day 4
so I'm not going to go over what I did over the last few sessions of this challenge because other than like 1 thing I had to do differently to actually finish the game (I'll talk about this at the end of this post) I basically just played the game normally. Flicker and Havoc took away all of the challenge, because when I was thinking of doing this I thought that Havoc and Flicker would be helpful but not that helpful. you could probably beat the entire gam with nothing but havoc and have very little issues with anything. but back to my point, I'm just going to talk about some various things I either didn't mention before or things I found interesting about the game, discovered during the playthrough, and other generally interesting stuff about the game that are vaguely related to the challenge.
Random thing #1
Loop stress must buff all drops instead of just dropping rare loot more often. so I got the Sepulchra very early on this time and I found that for whatever reason it hardly did any damage to anyone I shot it with, when in my first casual playthrough it was a guaranteed one-shot headshot on basically everything but the collector. then when I did my final loop I tried to snipe Wenjie from not very far away and she tanked 6 headshots, so either the Sepulchra got nerfed between June and now or loot quality does more than just drop rare stuff more often. I hardly used the Sepulchra because it just couldn't kill anything this time around and I'm wondering if I should have gotten another one to compare before I reset my progress to playthrough another challenge run (which is honestly not really a challenge run and I won't be doing posts about this current one but I plan on it for the next)
Random thing #2
Apparently the Rapier is considered the meta by the community, it's the weapon I've used the least just because it's loud, slow to fire, and I thought it was just too niche to ever justify giving it a loadout slot. But the community disagrees. The actual worst weapon is much harder to figure out, I looked at a bunch of tier lists and a few reddit threads, the only weapon that wasn't ever called the worst in the game was the Strelak Verso which doesn't mean it's the best it's just generic enough that no one actively dislikes it. I saw the Constancy Automatic at the bottom surprisingly often, it's really not a bad weapon it's just very underwhelming for the first unique weapon most people will find; it's really just a Limp-10 with a finicky reload. but the one people called the worst most often was the PT-6 Spiker so the next challenge run will be with just that, even though I like the Spiker more than silenced Tribunal or Limp-10
Random thingy #3
Julianna randomly invading even though I had invasions turned off was a persistent problem throughout the run. I have no clue why but just based on behavior they were all the bots that invade in single player mode. she never dropped anything all that useful so I never really mentioned it except for the first time she invaded after I switched to friends only. I think there are ways you can force the game to have Julianna invade, this theory is mostly from me playing as Julianna and finding that some really good players seemed to be grinding Julianna in Updaam at night. like I would unintentionally invade what appeared to be the same player multiple times and every time he had the safe in Colt's apartment open so maybe reading the note from Julianna always forces one and other locations also have triggers like this, again I haven't tested this at all and the wiki doesn't mention it anywhere
Random Thingy #4
it took me a bit to figure out how I could actually kill Julianna because the dueling pistols are obviously not a slab and all slabs are nullified in the core. eventually I figured out I could open the door, activate Aether, then shoot her from outside the door.

Oh my god you can watch Fia and Charlie banging on the door as they drown

I had no idea this was possible, also just finished the slab only run and will post probably later today

Deathloop Slab only: Day 2 (technically 3)
So uh, I didn't write down what I did in game yesterday, and I was high as fuck so I hardly remember what I did either, so you'll just get the cliff notes
-I got the Flicker upgrade for Aether
-I got every base slab that I didn't already have
-I all but finished Space invader
-I finished Devouring of the Lambs and Lost in Transmission
-I got the unique sniper
Day 3
I wanted to finish Radio Silence as soon as possible today mainly for plot reasons but also because I wanted the purple quality PT spiker that tags enemies, the last of the horizon stations I need to do is the one in Karl's bay so I have to spend the morning in The Complex (I didn't try the wake up challenge again).
This trip to the complex was very eventful but I don't have the patience to give you a minute by minute transcript so basically I'd fuck up and fail stealth, successfully sneak away, then fuck up again for like 20 minutes. Anyway I only sent power to Karl's Bay since I don't think it does anything but unlock the Horizon doors.
I wanted to go to Karl's bay next but you can't go at noon for some reason, so instead I went to Fristad Rock to kill Fia again, she spotted me when I opened the door to her... round room thing. Which really showed me how useful that gun is going to be in this challenge. And I got Withdrawal which gives me power every time I get a kill while Havoc is active, it can basically make me immortal for an indefinite amount of time.
But in the afternoon I actually have three things to do Karl's Bay, first I collect the Earworm upgrade for Fugue which isn't really that good, then I find frank's fireworks to properly start The Ballad of Ramblin' Frank. Finally I go to the Horizon station and have a conversation with a past, present or future version of myself (the lore is weird, I might do a video/long tumblr post about it). I also collect the password and the tagging nail gun
I spend the Evening in Updaam, first going to the RAK and learning I need to kill every visionary but Julianna in order to get to Julianna to kill her by having another conversation with another version of myself (again, the lore and story is weird), finally completing Radio Silence. I then go to Otto's workshop to find it burned down, oh no if only I could have done something to prevent this tragedy from happening. Then I finally go to Aleksis' party to kill him again. tip for finding Aleksis: he is the only person at the party with two exemplar Limp 10s which are easily noticeable since they're orange. I turn off the chocolate tap to draw him into the cellar where I murder him and collect Zone which is a decent upgrade for Karnesis. Julianna invaded somehow even though I turned off invasions.
The next morning I go to Updaam again because I remembered that this game is about a time loop so I could just stop the fire before it happens, so I do that and comeback to Updaam again at noon to get the password for Franks fireworks and I collet Reach from Charlie by crashing his Among Us larp party. I go Karl's Bay, thankfully collect Discord from the collector and stealth kill him for the first time in my time playing this game, and sabotage Frank's fireworks to finish The Ballad of Ramblin' Frank. I go to The Complex in the evening and collect Ghost which is good for normal stealth gameplay but because of my current playstyle it isn't all that good. this was probably the shortest day I've played in deathloop, that might just be because I actually planned the whole loop that time
Thought's on Flicker:
I never used Flicker much in regular gameplay but it is actually very useful since it's like havoc but no one knows where you are, so outside of one situation it's better in general.

Deathloop Slab Run. Rules and Day #1
Something I've wanted to try since I first played Deathloop was beating the game having only killed enemies using slabs and I never really thought it would be that hard (and to an extent still don't know if it will since I'm writing this as I go along)
Da Rulez
I can only shoot or use regular melee while Havoc is active, I have enemies linked with Nexus, or if I have the Flicker upgrade equipped for Aether
I can only do a melee takedown if Aether is active
I can only use mines by teleporting people onto them with Shift's Swapper upgrade
Other environmental ways of killing someone that don't involve pushing are allowed
Day 1
Deathloop started as it always does, with Julianna stabbing me to death. I then wake up in a beach, adjust my mouse sensitivity because for some reason resetting my progress also reset my settings, break a cutscene (I wish I had a screenshot of this), and shoot some mannequins, and collect the hackamajig: the most useful tool I'll have for a while. I did the rest of the tutorial completely as a pacifist which I was worried wouldn't be possible.
Now for the really hard part, at this point the game actually lets you do what you want and I planned on getting Nexus from Harriet but they do actually force you to try to kill Wenjie at least once so I figured I'd give it a shot, then externalists killed me twice while I was just trying to get to the lab. so I had to try to kill Wenjie with one life, no guns, no melee, and no slabs. I immediately try depressurizing the lab which only kills about 4 of the Wenjies but I manage to lure a few more into the main lab and suffocate them there before I hack and activate all the turrets in the area and let them deal with it. the rest die pretty quickly once I deploy the turrets, except for the one on the roof of the blue building, for some reason the turret took forever to kill her but I did manage to kill all the Wenjies without actually killing any myself.
Now with the power of infusion I go to Karl's Bay in the morning to kill Harriet and take her Nexus slab, two issues arose here, the turret I brought with me was destroyed and without it I have no way of killing Harriet since I can't push her into the gas because I'm not allowed to without Karnesis. And second, Julianna invaded me, this was going to be a problem if it happened consistently. I was in offline mode so it was just an AI but still AI Julianna's can be difficult without loadout restrictions. I might turn this off later idk. Anyway I died trying to kill Harriet.
Now where do I go from here? I could try to kill Charlie but Shift isn't going to be all that useful, I can also pretty easily kill Aleksis with the grinder but I doubt I'd be able to grab Karnesis and escape alive, so I guess I'll try Egor.
Egor is in the complex at night and he's basically the only person there. Another Julianna spawned but I managed to kill Egor with a turret and get away with my first slab other than Reprise, and a silenced Limp 10 that was in Egor's lab. Egor drops Aether which not only allows me to turn invisible, thanks to the rules I can also do stealth takedowns now which honestly any way to kill anything myself is going to be incredibly useful.
I go back to Karl's Bay and kill Harriet for the Nexus slab and also read her computer to finish her lead. Nexus will link enemies together, so when I deal damage to one all of them take damage. I can finally use guns now, as long as there are at least 2 enemies linked with Nexus.
So by the end of my first session I had the agility to do stealth takedowns and shoot people. Though I still suspect some challenge will come
