i don’t think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought you’d become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever

the craziest part to me about everyone in kim dokja's company paralleling kim dokja in some way. it isn't the irony of hating yourself and then surrounding yourself with reflections you love without realising. it isn't the way kim dokja thought his own existence so lonely and his own life so isolated he didn't recognise exactly how deeply that loneliness was shared, couldn't accept it being halved. its the way that kim dokja's company drifted so far apart after he was gone, because the glimpses of him they saw in each other were just too much. the grief could never go away cause he was always there as long as they were with each other. yes, in the empty space in between them, but also in shin yoosoung's smile, in han sooyoung's writing, in yoo joonghyuk's determination. in all those things they learned from him......

There was a TikTok post about an advertisement for “blood-making pills for weak women” someone found in a newspaper from the 1890s and everybody seemed to think it was just an example of the weird misogyny of the day and age but no. Anemia was a massive public health concern. It always has been through history but part of the reason we have this idea of old timey women thought history being physical weak, chronically cold and pale and fainting is because they often they were. Anemia was also a massive problem for men in that day but even now it disproportionally affects people who menstruate. So tonics full of stimulants and healthful vitamins” were marketed at young women in pages upon pages of advertisements in every newspaper. People generally felt like shit all the time back then.

Donna and Dick meet!
< previous part / next part >
Dick had mostly let the currents guide him, drifting wherever they took him. He slept more than he swam, floating aimlessly through strange reefs and open seas.
Donna had been raised by a tribe of human warriors on an island. Grateful for their care, she still never truly felt at home. She was caught between two worlds, belonging to neither. One day, she thanked her sisters for their love and care. They understood. They had always known she was meant for something different. So Donna set off alone, traveling and helping wherever she could.
That’s when she found him. A mermaid, half-buried in sand, barely moving. He blended so well with the water and sea floor she almost missed him. But lying exposed like that in the shallows was dangerous. So she went to help.
Maybe, just maybe, she had finally found what she had been looking for.

Darius art doll
Commission I made for talented AbzJHarding, and this character is from their comicbook Parliament of Rooks. (I hightly recommend you to go and check out their illustrations especially if you're into gothic stuff)
Doll is 75cm full length from the tip of beak to the tip of tail, fully poseable with wire skeleton inside. Green parts glow in UV light.
Head and claws are printed in durable resin. Fabric fur, feathers, wire, acrylic paint, varnish.
