You wouldn’t wear shorts to the prom..
You wouldn’t wear flip flops to a wedding..
So why would you then, when you go to meet the King of kings?
The Mass is the greatest celebration[1] in the Catholic Church, akin to a wedding or a great feast with a king. So dress for the grandeur of the occasion! Just like how we would honour a friend’s wedding in our best dress, we should too adore the Lord our God in holy attire[2] as we participate in the Mass. “When it comes to the celebration of the Eucharist, bodily demeanour ought to convey the respect, solemnity and joy of this moment when Christ becomes our guest.”[3]
That being said, we’re not saying you have to wear a suit and tie for a Mass.[4] In a world where dressing is dictated by fashion, trends, and the increasingly casual, the question then shifts to what exactly constitutes the notion of ‘Sunday best’. There exists no hard and fast rule as to what is the ‘appropriate’ attire to the Mass.
What we are simply saying is: dress appropriately, dress within reason, dress modestly, dress with respect for the sacredness of the Church.

[4] That said, during Easter Vigil and Christmas Midnight, it is common to see Mass attendees resplendent in layered suits and evening gowns.
I love how Harry is so into cameras and photography lately and his black and white photo fascination, then there’s Taylor who loves capturing memories with photos and her 1989 era being brought to life with polaroids…
Memories that are so in the moment and cannot be altered or edited to change the colours and emotions behind the pictures…
Makes me think about all of the captured memories between them that we will never see.
