“‘m honest,” he replied - vaguely sheepishly. to be fair, that was all it was. not outright FLATTERY, per say, but compliments well meant because, well - they were well deserved. it was not a secret, at this point, that adrian thought quite highly of gaia ( it was not much of one that he thought quite highly of ALL the women in his life, at that ), so it wasn’t difficult find words to apply to her. “and i wouldn’t. hand on heart,” he even put his hand over his heart, words as earnest as they came. whatever grade levi had earned, he’d earned, and he’d have to deal with that - adrian didn’t want to start him down this road of getting things handed to him young, lest he end up like one of them kids on tv, shamed for not earning their place in college. “i’d more like to talk about how he…- is, in school. i think…” deep breath. he wasn’t sure how to feel about this one. “i think he’s being bullied.” 

the light in gaia’s face DISAPPEARED the moment the words left adrian’s mouth and the tone changed drastically. she hadn’t realized the seriousness of the conversation - then again gaia wasn’t very serious and was a very free spirited and easy going person. maybe she was a little childish for her age. the only real responsibilities she had were to take care of her dog and teacher conferences. “ why... why do you say that ? “ her expression was replaced with a serious one. she took her students very seriously - even if levi wasn’t technically her student. “ when i see him around school he’s always a really happy kid... “ which is all a kid SHOULD BE. but maybe she wasn’t paying enough attention to the details ?

gaia was born and raised within the xavier mansion and around the x-men. afterall , their parents are two of the most well known x-men members. the only thing that gaia knew were the x-men so she didn’t quite understand other x-men kids who hadn’t been brought up and raised around that. she didn’t understand a life without that sense of family. “ DEFINITELY boring , “ gaia laughed. “ i’m sure your weekends are a lot more fun than ridiculous x-men things i had to do as a kid. “

“sounds…” nice. gráinne wasn’t a SOB STORY. she wouldn’t allow herself to be one. she wasn’t an unfortunate tale of misery and woe, but she still felt, just a little, as if she had been robbed. the fact she hadn’t stayed at xavier’s - had only spent a week there once, years before, and could only blame herself for having to leave - or grown up around the x-men was… unimportant. it SHOULD have been unimportant. she didn’t understand why it took so much to swallow back a nicety and instead feign, “BORING seems accurate.”

gaia covered her mouth as she laughed. “ it’s just a little WATER , “ she couldn’t help but find the whole situation hilarious. “ that’s what you get for standing in the middle of a water balloon fight. “

patience was something that ahura didn’t lack but used very sparingly, especially when it came to children. so loud, so rambunctious and messy. the royal inhuman prince was walking through the park when a couple of children accidentally threw two of their water balloons at him which were meant for another child nearby. immediately, the man threw off his shirt and glared at the children as they immediately ran. “ i will kill those children and wear them like hats ! “ he angrily exclaimed.

seeing her feels like an uncomfortable set to his bones. like biting his tongue. gaia’s smart, as holy as someone distinctly unholy can get, but her not knowing is something that haunts him throughout the years. as long as loki has known her, it’s been the same. as long as loki has known her, he’s been stuck in this lesson of learning to hold himself back. he forces himself to appear casual. ❝ so, what’s that like ? kindergarten teacher by day… bartender by night ? a bit of a paradox, is it not ? ❞
