I think more media should narratively punish parents for not listening to their kids and specifically I think it should punish them in cruel and terrifying ways. I want real life parents to go through life with a healthy fear that if they ignore their children's boundaries a witch might cook and eat them

ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.

being so staunchly anti generative ai while everyone around you is "i used chatgpt" and "i asked grok" and google search is useless and every company is implementing ai and every single celeb is taking ai money and partnering with ai is like... it's so jarring. why can't you see the harm like i can? why are you so lazy? why are we making society this stupid? can we please stop? it's killing people does that not matter to you?

Cannot wait for the BTS for this week's Game Changer. 20 minutes of various people going, "Yeah, we just love Jacob, and we wanted to mess with him a little and also give him $100k, so we got a sponsorship and built this whole set and came up with all these silly bits and got his friends in on it and stole his blood and made a Bigfoot costume and brought his dad in and made a big check and eveything, it was great."
I'll probably cry again. What a great episode.

you’re 23 and you learn rosemary kennedy was lobotomized at 23 and you’re like my god she was barely an adult. then you’re 27 and you’re like holy hell amy winehouse was just starting her life. and then, presumably, you reach 36 and you’re like christ alive marilyn monroe was only 36. and so on and so forth

The discourse around Who Wants to Be...? is both really fucking dumb and also kinda interesting.
Because a lot of people are going "Why did Jacob get all the money?" And there's a valid reason and that's is he lost his mom and a friend/member of his comedy group in the same year, and was having money problems, and part of those problems are because he's such a generous man. (Like in the premiere of this season he gave almost $3k to charity! He could have just kept that, and instead he inspired almost $10k more donations to that charity.)
But people aren't really asking that question, because the answer is out there and not that hard to find (and will probably be explored a bit more in the BTS next week). They're expressing annoyance that there's an episode devoted to giving one specific, pre-determined person an enormous amount of money. And that there was no potential for failure--while some of the questions were really hard, he had help and he had an apparently endless amount of hints. The episode would always end with Jacob getting $100,000 (pre-tax). So it's not like other game shows with huge prizes, and I guess they see answering some trivia questions as worthy of the money?
I think a lot of people are also really bitter that it's not them, but they can't say that, so they ask why it's not some other cast member. They're putting themselves in the shoes of everyone else on set--both the cast and the crew--and imagining themselves feeling secretly bitter about it. And I can't really blame that, because I also wonder if anyone had a little bit of jealousy that they had to keep pushing down. And you can say that the cast are all friends of Jacob who have watched him struggle with grief and having to make a living being funny while mourning multiple deaths, but what about the crew?
Except that if you're working in the entertainment industry, you have to get used to working with people who have way more money than you do, some of whom don't work as hard or aren't as talented as you! Sometimes, trying to be empathetic winds up just being kinda selfish in a way. Like I can't actually imagine what it's like to be the camera guy watching someone get $100,000, because if I was I'd probably also been in rooms with celebrities who get paid millions and get showered with expensive gifts they don't need, and having to be used to that to keep doing my job, and I just can't imagine that?
It's just so disappointing to see people take their knee jerk negative reaction, their automatic jealousy, and not try to imagine why people might not feel that way.
Also you just know Jacob is gonna use that money to fund projects with his friends, that he will then pay them for. And he will need camera and audio people for that. The money goes around.

Putting Jacob through the most mind-blowingly wholesome episode since Don't Cry while Sam Reich gleefully demonstrates how easy it is to steal someone's biometrics is peak Game Changer.

Say what you will about Critical Role as a production company, they're proving incredibly good at pulling people out of retirement to work with them. First they got Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford in to Darrington Press, now they've gotten Brennan Lee Mulligan away from his passion of making shoes for American Girls dolls to GM Campaign 4
