Guys. Guys please. We have to remember that protagonist is not a stand in word for hero and antagonist is not a stand in word for villain. Please. We learned this in middle school. The protagonist is the character the audience follows. The antagonist is the character who is working against the protagonist.

I do think it would've been interesting if instead of "No augments allowed in Starfleet. Okay I will make an exception because he looks very polite," they had either Kira or Martok pull some strings to get Julian enlisted in their organizations as a liason officer. Really dig into the limits of the Federation and the need to circumvent governments to do what's right. And the fucked up conversation about augment rights at Sisko's dinner party later on would take on extra meaning if Starfleet really had kicked Julian to the curb.

Bonus points if it was Bajor that took him in and Julian "Frontier Medicine" Bashir was really forced to reckon with being a political refugee and the ways his society is more dangerous for him than one he initially viewed as less fully capable

can't stress enough that the only currency we are paid in as fanfic writers is interaction by readers. comments and kudos/likes. if you take that away then you are effectively asking people to continue creating for you for free.

I don't know about other writers, but I won't do that. I don't think anyone should. it's not asking for much, guys. and I used to think it was just me but at this point every writer I know has noticed the same decline. you're going to stop seeing anything posted if you all don't actually interact with the works and the authors you like.
