Doesn’t that look beautiful?
Like something you’d find on one of those soft/nature blogs?
Well you are in for a surprise
The Bolton Strid in England is one of the most innocent looking streams.
Though it looks like you could just hop across the rocks, but if you miss you will die for sure. It packs very rapid currents just a couple of feet below its surface. No one really knows how deep it really is. Nobody who has ever fallen into the Strid has survived. It has a 100% fatality rate.

“Why don’t you just smile more?” “Why can’t you just be happy?” Their frustration hurts more than the lines on my wrists As they mutter and sigh and act As if it’s a choice As if I am to blame. My mind is a carousel; A perpetual circle of ups and downs That I cannot escape and These thoughts engulf me, Blackening my mind and mirrored on the canvas of my skin As cuts and bruises and the smell of alcohol and Their insistence is unbearable. Not just at 2am But when I’m shopping Or making breakfast Or laughing with friends And the thought of death seems to glow in front of me. Yet still the marks on my arms are for attention. Their pity at my “fragility” is enough to make me Doubt myself, Doubt my ability get better. But I am not fragile. My depressive thoughts and my questionable habits Do not make me weak and I refuse to feel weak anymore.
Improved version of the poem I posted a while back. Recovery takes a long time (via tinypaintdrops)

I kid myself into feeling Nothing for you And yet your features Swim at the forefront of my vision Each time my eyes flutter shut Your laughter resonates through me Trapping my skeleton in vibrations Of nervousness  And a longing To mingle our sounds Because the truth is I need you Like a bee needs sugar When it’s tiny structure trembles Showing such vulnerability  In each dying breath I feel like this bee sometimes Small and so capable of shattering From the inside out When your nervousness and longing Is directed at her.

On 24th June I did a TEDx talk at the TEDxTeen event in London. It was the most incredible experience, and I got to stand up and discuss mental health and why we should all be talking about it more than we are. I’ve struggled with my mental health for most of my life, but it’s only been within the last couple of years that I’ve began to accept that mental illnesses are as valid and serious as physical illness, and need to be treated as such. When the painting on my leg went viral I was shocked, but in hindsight perhaps I shouldn’t have been because I was doing something that isn’t done enough. I was talking about my mental health openly and unapologetically, showing that it’s okay to be mentally ill, but it’s also important to learn to cope with these illnesses in a healthy way. Mental health shouldn’t be a taboo topic of conversation, and I accepted the invitation to do a TEDx talk to do something to help break this taboo, to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health, and to show that there is no shame in being mentally ill. It’s okay not to be okay, but what’s not okay is refusing to discuss something that so many people struggle with. We have to help each other.
Please watch this, reblog it, and share it around as many people as possible. Show that talking about mental health can only be a positive thing.

We spend too much time desperately searching yearning to discover the unfathomable reason we live. Our short, quiet existence. Our existence barely touches one another, let alone reaching toward the endless expanse in the silent, shimmering stars. We are tiny. Why does existence need a purpose? As if knowing the reason We were born into being   Should determine our contentment. What bullshit. We are tiny  But when I look up I do not feel  The insignificance they would have you feel. Being part of the universe is an Immeasurable gift.
