Dave/John with paranoid/sensitive partner

Hey! Thank you so so much for this! I am like this as well, so dude this hit home! A lot of these terms are things I use to describe myself and places where I’m comfortable, so please tell me if anything is inaccurate!

John

Oh this boy is clueless and dense as a rock so he’s not really going to notice anything until either he triggers something or you tell him point blank

If he accidentally says something worrying or touches a sensitive spot, he feels immediately awful and will panic if you space out, or distance yourself from him afterwards. He insists that you explain what he can do to keep you safe and comfortable as well as doing all kinds of research on the subject. 

If you tell him, he will listen attentively and ask several questions after you’re done. He might even ask for a drawing of “safe spots” of places you are 100% comfortable with him touching. Also, he will ask about things he can do to pull you out of your head or help you after your brain slips out of reality and is just overall very respectful and supportive. 

For a little while afterwards, he treats you like glass, constantly checking in and using really soft gestures around you, because he really just wants you to feel as safe as you can be.

Whenever you’re feeling especially nervous he will sit down and talk to you, whether it be about what’s bothering you or fun jokes to distract you, he will sit until you’re feeling better. Another thing he likes to do when you are feeling that creeping feeling is walking with you or watching a movie together, whatever you like most.

Absolute master of making you feel comfortable, looks for anything to make you feel safe and goes out of his way to prove he can make you feel safe

Dave

He isn’t a very physical person, so he probably won’t notice somethings up when he's around unless he sees someone else touch somewhere you’re uncomfortable. He will notice that your eyes kinda glaze over and he is quick to pull you away from that situation

He has tons of fidget/stim toys around, so whenever he sees you spacing out or fidgeting because of anxiety, he’ll just kinda toss you one  

King of observation, will probably catch onto your trigger points and grounding techniques

Will ground you, he will bring you back to reality as gently as possible and continue on after making sure you are 100% alright

He will also let you talk through anything that's going on, especially if it's a stim for you or doesn’t make sense, he will sit through and listen to you ramble for hours

Honestly, he's also very paranoid, so everything yall have together is locked up and safeguarded

He is constantly looking out for you, he is always looking out for ways to make you safer

He adores you so much, your comfort is his top priority and he will go to the ends of the Earth for you but you’d never hear it from him.

Oh man

Oh man oh man

He got this exact same treatment from bro and he is devastated you have so many bandages on you all the time

Like? You both are out with some friends and someone twists their ankle

And you, at the speed of light, have some bandage out and their foot is fixed up in no time

On god, he almost starts crying on the spot because only boy scouts are supposed to know that and he knows you needed to know how to patch yourself up but you shouldn’t have needed to repair yourself so quickly and GOD

Honestly, he’s convinced you don’t have a right elbow because it always has a colorful bandaid on it

Speaking of bandaids, sometimes he’ll draw stars or hearts or just doodle on ones that cover paper cuts or that are wrapped around your fingers

He always asks first and he’s just so careful

When y’all first got together, you learned very quickly that he is NOT physically affectionate

He loves you so so much, and he hates it that his instinct is to flinch away when you brush up against him or go to hold his hand

It takes him quite a while, waiting for you to initiate and several sweaty palms that he doesn’t quite know what to do with, but when he does get comfortable showing affection around you? He’s so touchy

He’s not a huge fan of PDA (the cool kid facade is still strong) but in private, he just want cuddles and he wants them now

But he’s so so gentle, especially when you have new injuries

Often times, he will hold your arm and trace some older scars you have while y’all watch movies

And even when he accidentally puts too much pressure on a new cut, or his pointy elbows hit a soft spot, you’re smiling at him and cracking jokes while he apologizes for the next ten minutes

He’s baffled by you in the best way possible

He sees someone you care about being bullied for something and you are up and defending them SO FAST

It looks like you’re a hair’s breadth away from throwing punches 

And he’s astounded

The change in you demeanor was so fast

And his first instinct is to be worried, then the bully leaves, and he’s still worried

But god he is so proud of you

I mean, he’s seen some of the bruises you have

But you just are so trusting and nice and soft towards others, you have no bitterness in your heart and he has no idea how you do it

Your constant vulnerability so revolutionary to him 

One time, he accidentally walked in on you touching up your bandages

This beating was particularly bad, injuries stretching from just below your collarbone to around your ribs into your lower back

And he cannot move

He’s stuck in the doorway for a solid minute before you notice him

Shooting him your most convincing smile, some sluggish finger guns and a quick jipe you’re back to fixing yourself

“All these colors are really making me look like a piece of art, aren’t they?”

Oh my god he doesn’t know what to do

He just stands there until you’re done

“Who did this to you?”

Whether its a guardian, bully, or just a stranger, his heart still drops

He’ll make sure you are as comfortable as possible, in bed with snacks, drinks and a book or movie

He’ll crawl in next to you and pretend to be invested in whatever you are doing

But he’s crying

It’s hard to tell because he still has his shades on, and you don’t actually notice until you see him swiping at his face

You have to push his glasses up into his hair so he will look you in the eye

Y’all talk a lot that night

You wake  in the morning and bathed in the sunlight and Dave wrapped around you like a blanket of protection

And you are safe

I mean, he’s had his fair share of fighting robots so he’s pretty scared up right along with you

He’ll totally be up for comparing scars and stories about them

You got any you’re insecure about? He might not know how to comfort you but he will most definitely sit down with you and try and distract you

He sometimes forgets that you are as used to pain as he is and it's like a cold slap when you get hurt and shake it off

I mean, your pain tolerance is through the roof

You get hurt, say something like, oh this is nothing and he’s like so?? We are getting you patched up

And he will pick you up and will not let you move until you are fully bandaged, even if he knows you can do it yourself

On the flip side of that, when he gets busted up, he is always starstruck when you pull out the proper medical equipment and heal him up

Fixing up his twisted wrist, and he’s just staring at you because you’re just so gentle and caring with him, he feels so safe

Whenever he makes his own bandages and splints, he always ended up wrapping them up a little too tight, not enough to actually cut off blood flow, but enough that it was always more uncomfortable than it needed to be

Once, someone tried to pick a fight with him, and he just kinda squared up and went “ight i'm going to get decked this time”

And you BUST DOWN to DEFEND HIS HONOR and it's so scary

The offender? Flees so quickly at the sight of you, in a rage, and this anime character lookin dude, about to be in a rage because that kind of passion is contagious 

But he’s so oblivious to your advances it isn’t even funny

He’s a little caught in his self-hate to even consider that you might be into him

Because what on Earth would you ever see in him?

Also, he is not a touchy person!!

He has -5 experience with physical contact and he will literally jump out of your arms he is so perturbed

You go into hug him one time and he zips off so fast and you don’t see him for quite a while

Did you move too fast? Did you hurt him?

Nope, he’s just cooling himself down

Despite his best efforts, he can not keep a cool face around you

Even when you’re gently punching his arm or touching his shoulder as you brush past, he will get so flustered so fast. There's just nothing he can do about it

One time, you cornered him about it

Not even flash stepping could save this fellow from your onslaught of questions

Does he hate you? You stopped your bigger physical affections long ago and while you know that he really doesn’t get a lot of that but would he like you to stop? It’s alright if he does, you’d just like some verbal confirmation. I mean, you really really like him and your love language is touch, but if he isn’t okay with it he isn’t okay! And if he doesn’t reciprocate your romantic sentiments towards you, it’s all alright! He shouldn’t feel pressured to do anything he doesn’t want and... Man, you’ve really gotten off track here. You’ve said far too much but you mean all of it. Is he okay?

Even with the added defenses of his tinted glasses and his rock-hard demeanor, you can see he’s shaking

This, to you, is not a good sign and you begin to backpedal like HELL

While you’re chattering away, he is going over his options in his head after it stopped yelling and the list looks like this:

You’re lying to him and this is a joke

You’re not lying, but would be miserable in a relationship with him

You’re not lying and both of you would put the effort into a relationship and it would be beautiful

He decides to take his chances

Grasping your wrists to effectively stop the word soup spewing out of you, he lets you know how he feels

He also really likes you, like… you know… but it terrifies him, just like you do! You’re always beat up and those weak excuses really won’t work much longer, and you care so much and that’s so scary, so breathtakingly scary, and you’re so funny and easy to talk to and he knows he’s not used to touching people, or just people at all, but if you'd like to teach him, that’d be okay. Someone has to watch your back, anyways. 

And that’s the whole story right there, folks

The Arcana boys when their S/O comes to them after a long day and just breaks down

Asra knows you’ve had a rough few days. 

He’s seen you come back to the shop and all but pass out from exhaustion. But today when you come in, you don’t immediately claim a chair and fall into a deep sleep, he assumes you had a good day. 

You disappear into the back and he’s quick to clean up. He takes a few minutes and closes up the shop, ushering any stragglers out and dusting. 

When he finally does follow you back, he notices you shaking. 

This is when he begins to worry

Maybe he was wrong to assume your day was better

Shouldn’t he have noticed something when you walked into the back earlier?

He walks around so he can face you. Noticing your tears, he grasps your hands and softly asks you what’s wrong

Gentle whispers of “What worries you, my love?”

“What happened today?”

“My dove, how can I help you?

You shatter, crying freely and leaning into him. You’re grasping at his sleeves as he pulls you into his chest and holds you as you sob out your frustration, sadness and defeat. 

Eventually, if you’d like to talk through your day, he will listen. 

Still holding you tightly, he will rock you gently as you tell him everything that happened that day, humming in agreement or anger at certain points. 

When you have cried out all your emotions, he quickly picks you up and puts you in bed.

He’ll make tea, and if you aren’t asleep by then, he will sit next to you and comfort you

You have a habit of appearing out of nowhere around poor Julian

He’ll be concentrating on something and you’ll just show up!

Hes real unobservant when he’s working

But one day you show up and hug him from behind

At first, he laughs and tries to shrug you off

But when you just cling to him?? He gets real worried real quick

He quickly turns around and envelops you

Whether you cry or simply sag against him, he holds you

When he thinks you’ve calmed down just a little, he will carefully detach himself from you

Always keeping one eye on you, he’ll quickly clean up whatever he was doing

Then he’ll pick you up and sit down in the comfiest chair he owns

You’ll be in his lap, and he will gently ask you about you day

If you’d like to talk about it, he will gladly listen

Piping up here and there with short opinions like

“Oh yeah, I know about that”

“Haven’t seen her in a while”

Whenever you begin to ramble on about the worse parts of your day, he will most likely be quieter

Still holding you, but giving you the freedom to move your arms around and just get it out

And if you don’t want to talk about it, he will still gently rock you as you work through your emotions

Maybe he will hum to you, a song from his childhood that he barely remembers, and wipe your eyes

Or he will tell you funny stories or jokes in an attempt to cheer you up, his own laughter mixing with yours

You two probably fall asleep like that, his chin resting on your head, in that chair

He may not like people all that much but he can read a room pretty well

And he knows your work has been wearing you down the past few days

When you stumble into his house, half dazed and exhausted? 

He’s almost instantly on your case

He’s gently taking your bag, getting you something warm to drink, maybe gathering a soft blanket

All the while you are just standing in his foyer

As soon as he’s done bustling around, he will very, very carefully cradle your face

He will look over you, making sure you are not physically injured before looking into your eyes and asking what’s wrong

There’s no additives, he’s very straight to the point, but the pure care in his eyes is enough to pull down your last defenses

You fall into him, and he very gently puts his arms around you and rubs your back

He’s so so careful and won’t make any sudden movements

Or really any movements at all

He’s real scared of doing something wrong, so he will just silently support you and comfort you the best he can

If you want to talk, he will arrange it so you can sit down at a table and talk about what’s bugging you

He’s a fantastic listener and won’t interject much

But if there is a point where you begin to get choked up? Or particularly angry?

He will reach across the table and grasp your hand or wipe your tears away

He will rub small circles into your hand as you tell him about the who and what that made you upset

In the end, you could pull yourself into his arms and he would be very still but so warm

Look at this man

I mean, he probably unintentionally did something to add to your stress but we will ignore that for now

He’s also hella dense because he is HELLA egotistical

So he doesn’t notice when you storm into your shared bedroom, absolutely livid

He’s just touching up his makeup or something and really just throws empty comments your way as you set your stuff down

But when he turns around to fully face you, just as he’s about to ask your opinion about something he did, he notices your face, which is now red and puffy, and the pillow you are now gripping with malicious intent

And boy does his face drop quickly

At first he’s worried he’s done something to hurt you and rushes over to you

He doesn’t even touch you he’s so worried

Before he can say anything, you go off

Tears fall freely down your face as you talk about what's upsetting you

He goes to sit on the bed while you pace and work through your anger

It wrenches his heart out to see you like this, gripping the pillow close to your chest and sobbing

Eventually, he walks around to you and gently hugs you

It’s a little awkward with the pillow in between you two, but neither of you really care at this point

By now, you are exhausted, by both the long day you suffered through and the yelling you just did

And he allows you both to sink down to the floor

You both sit there for a while

Just breathing

Until he gets up, pulling you with him

He begins to draw you a bath, adding oils and salts

As you get settled in, he will call for something to drink

As we all know, he is the self care King and knows how all the right ways to get you to relax and rejuvenate

So you blush and flap your hand because its just so cute and he loves you so so much And he just smiles and holds your hands until you kinda calm down Except the hand holding does nothing to calm you down So it becomes a vicious cycle One of his favorite things to do to you is kiss your cheek real quick when he’s walking past you It completely shuts you down for a solid 15 seconds If you happen to look back at him, you’ll notice he looks back and shoots you a cheeky wink He’s just a sneaky little boy who loves you dearly

=Lucio= He’s a jerk Such a prick All the time he’ll just saunter up to you and do obscene things And, per usual, you’ll freeze and flush like crazy He’s a bit proud of it tbh But! He is like super out of his comfort zone in more simple affectionate gestures Like hand holding Or someone kissing his forehead Or buying him a small but meaningful gift He will have no clue what to do and probably start crying if y’all aren’t in public This bad boy is not great at intimate relationships But he’ll try and get you flustered without straight up seducing you And it’s real healthy for both of you!! After a little bit of trial and error, he gets real adept butterfly kisses and squeezing you hand But he still loves to watch you freeze up and go a lovely little pinkish-red color in the face He gets kinda addicted to it sometimes?? He might or might not try to fluster you in public every once in a while to show off He loves with his whole heart and loves every little expression you make

I’m sorry if this is a little OOC, I haven’t written for them in a while, but this was lots of fun!

Dave: 

It's also hard for him to trust people so he's in your boat.

He is kinda distant to everyone so it takes him awhile to actually do anything

He does notice you flinch when others move to fast or go in for a hug

But he is surprised the first time he touches your shoulder or something you step away and laugh nervously

He distances himself quite a bit more after that

One time, he’ll catch you in a panic attack and will sit down and ride it out with you

If you say something worrying or particularly revealing then immediately start laughing afterwards, he doesn’t say anything but waits for you to calm down

If music helps you relax, you bet he’ll make you a thousand different playlists and cd tracks

Although he might not seem to be, he is incredibly observant and will shelter you if he notices you getting uncomfortable

He has like zero world experience and while he has the right intentions, he has no idea what's going on

You don’t trust him and look uncomfortable in his presence?

He assumes you just don’t like him

It takes someone to explain to him that you’re uncomfortable around everyone and he is instantly more attentive

He will notice you laughing during serious conversations and he’ll change the subject, or if it is really worrying, he will ask what is wrong, but won’t push to far

He is a fantastic listener and will rub your back if you’re panicking

Hes a little touch starved

He will talk to you all the time

He’ll just kinda ramble and tell you everything he’s seen that day or something funny that happened

He will also take you to all kinds of beautiful places just to see you smile

He just wants you to be happy and feel safe

-Y’all will just sit in his lil hut, hold hands and support each other

-Literally will not let you talk bad about yourself

-Will smother you in compliments and lavish gifts

-He notices someone say anything even slightly negative about you and you never see them again

-He’s usually pretty dense, so he won’t notice you’re uncomfortable until you tell him

-But once you tell him he whisks you away to someplace safe and private

-If you want to talk about what you dislike about your body, he will listen

-But expect frequent interruptions

-He’ll butt in and tell you all the fantastic things he sees in you 

-Everyday he will tell you something different about you that he loves
