Book 2 au: travel companion

I've been thinking about how they'd first meet each other in this au and how they end up travelling together. But like this isn't really the first encounter and their first interaction lol more like something that takes place a little bit after. I think the first interaction would be a bit more hostile. Katara just ends up trailing after Zuko after they first meet and they just end up going together somehow

Zutara Week 2020 Day 5: Hesitancy Katara comes to a realization while the gaang chats around the campfire in the Western Air Temple. I was going for a sort of screencap-y feel, but next time I would use a different brush for lineart because at the end of the day, I’m not too happy with how Procreate’s technical pen ended up looking (and doing dark cel shaded shadows is tough oof). But I like the concept of the drawing at least. Katara with a teacup again because… I don’t know, give characters props! Just trying to capture that moment when you catch yourself in a state of attraction, but you have to stop short because you’re unsure. Honestly, I should have just made this into a storyboard; I suck at comics. haha In unrelated news, there was a series of small to mid-size earthquakes this morning in LA, so yes I will probably be retreating into my emotional support OTP even further for a little while haha My nerves are rattled. :S

i really like your works of book 2 zutaraaa. i hope i get to see you draw them realizing that they might actually have feelings for each other.

Thank you anon!! Honestly, it would take them so long to come to terms with their own feelings and it would take even longer for one of them to just admit it. But when it does eventually happen, I'd like to think it'd happen pretty naturally. Like they would just be in the middle of a conversation, joking around and messing with each other and it just slips out
