Apology and More to Come

Sorry again for not posting much here. I work on and think about Teen Titans content almost all the time, even if my muse bounces a bit to my own original content and other fandoms sometimes. I have mountains of ideas for Teen Titans, be it fan fiction, headcanons, or drawings.

I think I'm going to post more concepts and snippets of stories here now that I have @titansworks for my finished work. I really appreciate my followers here and I want to reward you for following me. Plus, I really want to get these ideas out to more than the select few people I talk to on Discord.

Not to toot my own horn, but I do think a lot of you would like these ideas if I could get them out.

Plus, a little encouragement from you guys to actually continue these things wouldn't hurt, be it simple likes and reblogs or even comments!

Anyway, here are some drawings that I don't think I've shared that I need to finish/redraw.

Ding Dong Daddy's Grandfathers Headcanons

The most important people in DDD's life were his grandfather, Jacob, and his grandfather's partner, Bernie.

Jacob married a woman and had children before he had come to terms with his sexuality. It wasn't until after his third child was born that his attraction to men came to light.

His wife divorced him and took custody of their children.

Jacob was essentially ostracized from his family and community, but took comfort in his boyfriend, Bernie.

Bernie was also an outcast. Not only was he gay, but he was also a Black man.

The couple faced immense oppression in a time of socially accepted racism and homophobia.

But there was one person in particular that adored them, one of Jacob's grandsons, David Devin Dowd.

DDD was an outcast in his own right as well. He was autistic, bisexual, and doubted his parents' religion.

This drew the three together.

Much of David's personality was influenced by these two people.

Jacob was a car mechanic and a genuine greaser back in the nineteen fifties. He taught David about cars, shared his taste in media, and regaled him with stories of his past.

Bernie was a line cook at a diner. While he was talented enough to be a more respected chef, the racism of the time held him back. Even so, he took pride in the cooking he did at home.

Bernie influenced David's love of food, even teaching him to cook. Bernie is the reason David replaced his stim of biting himself with eating.

While Jacob and Bernie couldn't marry until it became legal, David always referred to Bernie as his grandfather too.

Some Ding Dong Daddy Headcanons

-Ding Dong Daddy's real name is David Devin Dowd. While he likes the alias of Ding Dong Daddy, he is rarely called that by other people. He is usually referred to as David, Dave, DDD, Triple D, or 3-D.

-Despite his seemingly laid-back cool guy persona in Revved Up, Triple D is far from cool. In reality, he is nerd with autism and hyper-fixations on greasers, vehicles, and the nineteen fifties.

-This obsession stems from his grandfather, who was an actual greaser in the nineteen fifties. His grandfather loved him more than his parents did, so David came to associate anything related to him with love and comfort.

-As a stressed autistic child, David would often stim by biting himself. This stim has been replaced multiple times; first with food, then cigarettes, and currently sucking on hard candy.

-DDD is not responsible for the creation of his henchmen. Rather, he stumbled upon them by accident after unknowingly driving through an inter-dimensional rift. The creatures followed him back to his home dimension before the rift closed, leaving them in the wrong dimension. Not knowing what else to do, DDD took the creatures in.

-Because he didn't know what species they were, David simply refers to them as sumps, naming them after mechanic terminology. In terms of names, he based them on flavors associated with their colors. Their names are Cheddar, Lemon, Lime, and Gumball.

-DDD stopped smoking because of his sumps. While they are typically fine with car exhaust, oil, and the like, cigarette smoke makes them ill.

I'm trying to nail down Ding Dong Daddy's design and story. He has a piece of candy! :3

Beast Boy woke up at 3 A.M. and it's about to become everyone's problem.

(I like to think Beast Boy changes up his room throughout the series, especially after it got wrecked during The Beast Within. I also see the Titans' getting their own bathrooms in season two, using said construction to cover their work on Terra's bedroom. Hard to cover construction like that. Top drawing is older. Should really flesh out the backgrounds of the TT Tower and world in general.)

Beast Boy is watching The Lion King and he forgot it's two in the morning.

Beast Boy and Spanish

Beast Boy understands Spanish better than he can speak it.

He is seen speaking a smidge of Spanish in the episode Terra, even if he gets the words out of order.

In Titans Together, he tells Más to slow down because he can't listen that fast.

He also mentions wanting to go to Mexico in the movie Trouble in Tokyo.

This implies he knows some degree of Spanish and may want to improve upon it.

My personal headcanon is that his biological mother, Marie Logan, was white Latina. She was born in Mexico, but moved to America with her parents in her early years. She was taught to repress her heritage in the hopes of better opportunities in a bigoted world.

When Gar (Beast Boy) was still young, Marie attempted to reconnect with her heritage and teach her son the same.

This teaching only went so far as Gar's birth parents passed when he was still young.

This is why Beast Boy speaks Spanish, but isn't fully fluent and why he wishes to visit Mexico.
