In general, the results indicate that safety and convenience features were equally valued across the whole sample size. Data were analysed to rank the importance of desired functionality to improve the uptake of cycling within urban environments. User preferences related to safety and convenience were defined using market reviews and responses gathered from 638 potential users mainly from Europe and North America. Built on a 26 x 4.8 Fat-Tire platform, the Jeep eBike is. This investigation discusses results from a survey on end-user preferences for future e-Bikes that will be developed in the coming years. The Jeep eBike was developed in partnership with the most iconic off-road brand on the planet. You can email if you have any questions on the specs. As e-bike usage continues to grow, so too will the need for further research, in order to provide the necessary data to inform industrialists what cycling features matters for a wider, diverse and sustainable adoption of this mode of transport. Ride off-road with the Rambo R750 electric bike (bike shown in video is in Camo). Several designs issues impact policy in several countries such as the UK, Europe and the USA. Mri vs xray
Tumblr media
MRI is an ideal choice when evaluating soft tissue structures such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, solid organs (liver, spleen, kidneys), and the spinal cord.Īs with CT scanning, MRI imaging requires general anesthesia so that the animal will lie completely still in a very noisy machine over the course of 30 minutes to an hour. Secondly, it does so without any radiation exposure for the patient. First, it creates greater soft tissue (as opposed to bone) detail than any of the other imaging studies. MRI imaging uses magnetic field and high frequency radio waves to create an image. Given that the CT machine tends to be noisy and scary and the animal must lie perfectly still for several minutes, general anesthesia is invariably required. For example, small growths within the bone or lungs that are too subtle to be seen on an x-ray will appear crisp and clear on on a CT scan. The data is then constructed so that the person interpreting the CT scan can view the images one slice at a time or compiled into the whole loaf.Ī CT scan is a good choice when an abnormality is detected that an x-ray cannot find. Like a loaf of bread, the image contains multiple slices. The recording device sends data to a computer that compiles an image. The x-ray and recording device rotate around the patient. Not to worry, the hair coat will grow back good as new in approximately three months time (a small price to pay for valuable information).ĬT imaging is a moving x-ray machine. Hair gets in the way of creating a good ultrasound image, so the study site must be shaved. Unless an animal is quite anxious, wiggly, or fractious, ultrasound can be usually be performed with nothing more than gentle restraint. This is because sound waves are blocked by air (the lungs are filled with air) and bone. Where ultrasound is limited is in evaluating bony abnormalities or things within the chest cavity other than the heart. For this reason, ultrasound is a commonly used diagnostic tool. Unlike x-rays that provide silhouette images of structures, ultrasound allows a look inside various organs. It’s also great for evaluating the heart (referred to as an echocardiogram). Ultrasound is a wonderful modality for evaluating abdominal organs such as the spleen, gall bladder, liver, and kidneys. In the case of ultrasound, the sound waves are emitted from a hand held device and information about how they pass through or are blocked by the various tissues they encounter is converted into electrical signals that are then interpreted by a computer and transformed into an image. Ultrasound resembles sonar in that sound waves are emitted to retrieve information. In states where such radiation exposure laws don’t exist, a technician or two wearing lead-lined gloves and aprons typically restrain the fully awake patient in position when the x-ray is taken. Depending on the finesse of the x-ray technician in using gentle restraint devices as well as the malleability of the patient, sedation may be necessary. In some states, California being one of them, it is required that only the animal be in the room when radiographs are taken so as to avoid repetitive human radiation exposure. If they don’t reveal an abnormality, a different type of imaging study may be recommended. It’s quite common for veterinarians to choose radiographs as a first diagnostic imaging test. Radiographs of the abdomen can be useful for finding prostate gland enlargement, most bladder stones, enlargement of the liver or spleen, abnormal gas patterns within the bowel, and some gastrointestinal foreign bodies (those that contain mineral or metal). Chest x-rays can detect pneumonia, enlarged lymph nodes, tumors that are relatively sizeable, and heart enlargement. Radiographic images are great for looking at bones, particularly when wanting to identify fractures or arthritic changes. Digital radiographs are preferred because, not only can the images can be enhanced, there’s no need to mess with the nasty chemicals necessary to develop x-ray film. Nowadays, most veterinarians use digital sensors to capture the images. In the past, images were transcribed onto x-ray film. High-energy radiation is passed through the body to create a radiographic image. Of all commonly used imaging modalities, radiographs have been around the longest. Knowing the merits and limitations of each imaging option allows your veterinarian to recommend the best choice for your dog or cat. Each of them caters differently to visualizing abnormalities. Why has your veterinarian recommended an MRI scan rather than a plain ole’ x-ray of your dog’s back? Why a CT scan rather than an ultrasound of your kitty? Nowadays, when it comes to diagnostic imaging, there are a number of options to choose from. Posted on MaX-ray, Ultrasound, MRI and CT: Which Imaging Study is the Best Choice for Your Pet?

MOUNTAIN DUCK TUTORIAL OFFLINE
MOUNTAIN DUCK TUTORIAL MAC
This command line tool is missing quite a few features right now, but it's still quite useful already.
MOUNTAIN DUCK TUTORIAL OFFLINE
On some remotes (this option is available for Google Drive and Dropbox remotes, but not for OneDrive for example) you also have the option of downloading the whole remote contents to your filesystem for offline use, and uploading all the files copied to the folder mapped to the remote cloud storage server.įrom the RcloneTray menu you also get quick access to Rclone's ncdu (not to be confused with ncdu itself, this is only for rclone), an interactive, text-based user interface for the console, which allows the navigation of a remote, showing the used space. To indicate when a remote is mounted, the circle shown to the left of the remote name fills up. For some remotes (Google Drive and Dropbox for example) though, it may say "Open in Finder" even though it's running on Linux this is just a display bug and it does open the location using your default Linux file manager. You have the option of mounting any remote you've previously configured using Rclone, from the RcloneTray menu, be it some cloud storage provider, WebDAV, SFTP, etc., as well as opening it using your default file manager. RcloneTray lists all your Rclone remotes in its tray menu, each remote having a separate submenu that varies with each storage service. It also supports mounting these cloud storage services so you can access your files using desktop applications. Rclone can synchronize files from your filesystem from/to cloud storage services like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Nextcloud, Yandex Disk, Dropbox, Amazon Drive and S3, Mega, pCloud, and others (and having WebDAV, FTP and SFTP support), as well as directly between cloud storage services. Using this Electron tray application, you'll be able to quickly mount Rclone remotes, open the mount location using your default file manager, and perform other operations.Īlso see Rclone Browser (updated fork) for a more complete Rclone GUI.
MOUNTAIN DUCK TUTORIAL MAC
RcloneTray is a GUI for Rclone, the "rsync for cloud storage" command line tool, which runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.

The invalid data had been cleaned and data is able to be written to the pages at full speed. Data is written back to SSD memory cells.TRIM command tells SSD controller that pages contain invalid data.Pages are marked as "not in use" by the OS, but data remains on SSD. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command. TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. The TRIM command is essential to maintain the performance of solid state drives (SSDs) at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive.

Like most trim enablers it allows solid state drives to automatically handle garbage collection, cleaning up unused blocks of data and preparing them for rewriting, thereby preventing slowdowns that would otherwise occur over time as garbage data accumulates. Download Trim Enabler 2.2 here Guide to enabling Trim in OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 1 using Trim Enabler If you are using OSX software RAID 0 you are fine, most softwares are supported. For hardware RAID they do not support trim, therefore it does not work with it, however trim in RAID depends on RAID drivers. Trim Enabler works well on Fusion Drive, and most SSD. The detailed S.M.A.R.T monitor will provide performance and health relevant statistics and reports about your disks, both Hard and Solid State Drives Trim decongest the SSD by releasing blocks of data that are no longer in use. It is allows you to free up enough space on your SSD, you can access advanced OS X tweaks to improve your SSD’s performance or free up to several gigabytes of disk space. The performance of the solid state drive is enhanced by making it writer faster, the increase in writing speed is also coupled with a long-lasting performance and lifespan. With Trim, your blocks can be cleaned instantly when you delete the data, leading to much less operations during the writing process which gives you better speeds and minimizes the wear on the drive. This means that when you need to write new data, the SSD must perform time-consuming cleaning and maintenance of these blocks before your data is written. Due to technical limitations in the NAND Flash design, only whole blocks can be deleted. These blocks are not deleted until you need to use them again to write new data. Every time you delete a file on your computer, the data still stays on the drive in segments called blocks.

Park beyond
Tumblr media
Of course, everyone who has played the original Rollercoaster Tycoon knows that it's probably not a good idea to embark on a ride until you can see if the tracks are actually complete, or else you might end up with some unwanted flying lessons. While we only briefly tried the many customisation options, a short video presentation showed some quite impressive user-created designs that you will be able to easily share with friends or strangers online. So, while it's a bit early to draw conclusions, the park features seemed pretty intuitive, and there was a nice sense of life when the gates opened, and the guests started flooding in. Park Beyond is still very much a work in progress with the UI consisting mostly of placeholders, and we only got to try one of the many different park themes. We also got to try some of the zanier features such as canons shooting the carts over obstacles, and we even tunnelled trough a mountain - security and environmental protection be damned.Īfter clearing the first mission we also got to dabble a bit in the sandbox mode. The first mission didn't take more than 15 minutes to complete, but despite the short play time, a lot of interesting features were gradually introduced such as the opportunity to build rails with lifts for going uphill. As the track design is modular, it's also easy to adjust an earlier part without having to undo all of your previous work. Still, it never wrestles control away from the players, and by adjusting the height of the tracks or the angle of the final track piece, you can control the layout with great precision. The tracks are easily placed and automatically adapt to the terrain if there are obstacles in the way or smaller changes in elevations. The track editor in many ways seems to capture this design philosophy perfectly. During a brief presentation, the game's creative director, Johannes Reithmane, spoke about how Limbic Entertainment wanted to make the game easily accessible while still containing advanced features underneath all the high-pitched screams and sticky candy floss. Rollercoaster Construction Shows Great Potentialīut what about the actual gameplay? As already mentioned, the first mission had us designing a complicated rollercoaster with twists and turns through a sprawling city. We did however get to try another one of the game's selling features. Actually, I had to make up the last example about the toilets, as we didn't really get to see that many of the impossified features during our preview. Sanitary workers collect equal parts litter and unlucky guests with a huge vacuum cleaner (sort of like in Ghostbusters), explosive cannons shoots carts from one track to the next on the rollercoasters, and the toilets are designed as merry-go-rounds. This results in some fanciful inventions. In simple terms, it means that we have access to the same rides, staff members and facilities as in a normal amusement park - everything is just a lot crazier than usual! The exaggerated and satirical tone is even more pronounced in Park Beyond, where Limpic Entertainment has introduced the new word impossification. The developer's previous game is the wacky sim game Tropico 6 where you, as the dictator of a stereotypical banana republic, can lead your nation to glory or transfer the treasury to your offshore bank accounts.

Sprague the whisperer
Tumblr media
We talked about how many of our clients have similar issues going on with their lives and how important it was of all of us to exercise kindness, caring, and concern for people, even when their behavior toward us may not seem worthy. When I returned Monday to my business, I recounted this story to my team. I was so glad I did not act upon my judgment. How many people that we judge each day have stories similar to this man? Can we all be just a little kinder, a little gentler in our day to day lives and look out for other people just a bit more? I know without a doubt that I can pass judgement too quickly and it is an area that I need considerable work on. To make matters worse he then poured his heart out to me that he had been injured at work and could no longer be employed at the company he had loved and loyally worked at for more than 30 years. How he began drinking to ease the pain of his injuries and the depression he felt because he felt useless. Then to make matters worse his wife died, and then his 25 year old daughter of pancreatic cancer died as well. This man was broken and needed some kindness, however small, to ease his burden and help him on his new journey. I take this same flight every Thursday, all year round. I know each and every nuance of the flight path by now. As we entered into a place that always has turbulence due to the mountains I looked over to see the man was terrified. Taking a deep breath and again telling myself to be kind, I put my hand on his forearm and told him the turbulence was normal and that it happens in the same place every time. He looked relieved and thanked me. Now that we had broken the ice a bit, I asked him if Salt lake City was his final destination? He informed me that he was actually headed to Atlanta. Making small talk I asked if he was going to see family in Atlanta? Taking a long, deep breath, he told me he was headed to rehab for alcohol abuse. In fact, he said I was the only person he had told and that if he did not get the help he needed he was sure that he would die.Ĭan you imagine how I felt? I am worried about plane etiquette and this poor man is headed to rehab. I felt so small, but I also was so happy I did not confront him. He was having a day worse than any I have ever experienced in my life, and I was upset that he grazed my face with his bag. it’s only a short flight, etc.”Once the initial round of questioning was over the man calmed down and I was able to return to my work. Still annoyed with my neighbor, I was likely throwing bad vibes his way. Once he sat down in his seat he proceeded to consistently interrupt me and ask me many questions that would seem obvious to any adult. My Irish temper was beginning to boil and I was having all it could do to keep it in check. I repeatedly had to remind myself to “be kind, be a good person. On a particular flight headed home to Utah for the week I had boarded the plane early and was already settled in my seat with my headphones on and intently working (I have always viewed airplanes as just an extension of my office, and I always work while flying). As I concentrated on my work, I glanced up to see a middle aged man walking down the aisle that definitely did not have the look of a business traveller. I returned to my work and was then abruptly hit in the face as this man tossed his bags to the window seat next to me. I was extremely annoyed and had all I could to not to call him out on his faux pas and make a scene. Then he tried to fit a bag that was obviously too large for the small overhead bin holding up the entire plane as he made his way back to the front to check his luggage. Needless to say, I was not impressed with him and I just hoped he would not bother me during the flight so I could be productive. For years I have commuted each week on small commuter aircraft between my home in Utah and my businesses in Southern California. In fact, before that I traveled extensively internationally in a prior job. Needless to say, I have logged a lot of flights and I am a sticker for airplane etiquette.

And the earth did not devour him summary
Tumblr media
When it subsides they are injured (Augustus’s arm is wounded) and bereft of food and water. Unfortunately, their victory happens during a massive storm that nearly destroys the ship. They spare the life of one mutineer, Richard Parker, when he begs for mercy. The three concoct a plan to take over the ship and are successful. Augustus readily agrees and tells Peters of Pym’s presence. Pym listens to this tale in wonder and it is agreed he will continue to hide out so he will not be harmed.Īfter time passes, Dirk Peters confides in Augustus that he wishes to take back the ship and hopes the young man will help. The only “good” mutineer on the Grampus seems to be a half-Native American brute of a man named Dirk Peters he is kind to Augustus and does not want the ship to venture into piracy. Augustus himself was spared but tied up for some time until the mate, who orchestrated the attack against the captain, decided he could roam about. Most men, excluding himself, were killed or set adrift. He tells his friend about a mutiny that happened not long after the ship set sail. Tiger has a note attached to him, and after much travail, Pym is able to make out a few ominous words from Augustus.Īfter more terrible time passes in his interment in the hold, Augustus finally makes his way down to Pym. At one point he thinks he is being attacked by a malevolent creature, but it turns out to be his dog Tiger who somehow managed to get onboard. His provisions begin to run out and the noxious fumes in the hold distort his thinking. Pym is relatively comfortable in the hold for a few days but becomes disconcerted at his propensity to sleep long hours and his confusion that Augustus has not visited him. Facing disapproval from his family, Pym is hidden onboard the ship for three days before it departs with the intention of revealing himself to the captain and crew once they were safely at sea. Augustus tells Pym that his father Captain Barnard is set to command an expedition on the Grampus and that he and Pym ought to go. Pym is not deterred from his growing desire to go to sea by this misadventure to the contrary, he thrills more and more at Augustus’s harrowing tales. One evening they are almost killed during a storm but are thankfully rescued by a whaling ship. Augustus spurs a love for the sea in Pym and the two spend time sailing. As a young man he goes away to school in New Bedford there he meets his closest friend Augustus Barnard, the son of a sea captain. Pym begins his tale by noting his respectable upbringing. Nonetheless, readers believe it to be true. With some urging from his editor, Edgar Allan Poe, he publishes it as fiction. He explains that he had previously not wanted to commit his marvelous tale to print because he worried that people would doubt its veracity. The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket begins with a preface by its first-person narrator, Pym himself.
