Indra – the sink disaster

The pipe under the kitchen sink bursts.

Water starts pooling beneath the cabinets.

Ivy’s away, the twins are yelling about a water war, and Ame is walking around barefoot.

Indra walks in, eyes narrowing.

-Move aside.

He rolls his sleeves up and ducks under the sink like a war general surveying the field.

Tools are already in his hand.

He doesn’t complain.

He doesn’t sigh.

He just fixes it.

Fifteen minutes later, the pipe is sealed with surgical precision, the cabinet is wiped dry, and the twins have been sent to mop the rest of the floor as punishment for “encouraging chaos.”

As he tightens the final screw, Raizen lingers in the doorway.

-You should've called someone. That's not your job.

-Everything in this house is my job.- Indra mutters, wiping his hands on a towel.

He doesn’t say it, but Ivy’s kitchen is sacred.

If it breaks, he fixes it.

Period.

Obito – Yard War

Obito’s house has a small backyard.

He rarely uses it—until the HOA sends him a passive-aggressive letter: “Weeds over regulation height. Please address.”

-The hell is a regulation weed?

He tries to mow the lawn with an ancient, rusting lawnmower he finds in the shed.

It sputters once.

Twice.

Dies.

-Fine. Fuck you too.

He attacks the weeds with a kitchen knife, a beer in his other hand.

Neighbors peek over fences.

A child cries somewhere.

Obito ends up shirtless, covered in grass, dirt on his face, declaring war on a particularly stubborn dandelion.

He does finish the job, but only out of spite.

The yard is lopsided.

Half the grass is dead.

He proudly takes a picture and sends it to the HOA anyway, middle finger up.

Two days later, a landscaper shows up.

-Courtesy of your neighbor, Uchiha Itachi,- the man says.

Obito doesn’t speak to Itachi for a week.

Shisui – closet crisis

Shisui’s house is minimalist on the outside, but inside it's a curated mess of clothes.

He’s good-looking and knows it, with a walk-in closet full of statement pieces.

The problem?

The closet rail holding all his jackets collapses with a loud crack at 7 a.m.

-No, no, no, no, no…- he mutters, staring at a mountain of black and leather on the floor.

He squats beside it like he’s at a funeral.

Instead of calling someone, he decides he’s got this.

Shisui goes full DIY mode—YouTube tutorials, power drill, motivational playlist.

He wears sunglasses indoors while fixing it.

At some point he ends up shirtless, holding the drill wrong, FaceTiming Itachi just to show him the screw he finally got in.

-That’s the wrong wall, cousin.

He stares.

-...That explains the breeze.

Three holes later, he gives up and calls the professional.

But insists on finishing the closet lighting himself.

It flickers every time you open the door, like a nightclub.

He likes it that way.

Itachi – tech meltdown

Itachi’s house is sleek. Immaculate.

Every device is smart—lights, thermostat, security, even the coffee machine.

Until the system glitches after a storm.

Lights start flickering.

Music plays at random.

The security app keeps telling him someone is at the front door—when no one is.

Itachi stands in the hallway at midnight, illuminated by red emergency LEDs, listening to Alexa whisper, “I'm always watching.”

He doesn’t flinch.

He opens his laptop.

Two hours later, he’s writing code in silence, hoodie on, classical music playing in the background.

Obito would’ve called tech support.

Shisui would’ve thrown the system out the window.

Itachi?

He rewires the entire system, renames the AI, programs it to stop responding to voice commands unless it hears his exact tone.

When the power stabilizes, everything works flawlessly again.

And just for good measure, he adds facial recognition to the front camera.

Shisui tries to prank him the next week.

The door won’t open.

In fact, he's fairly certain he still has the attempt that the little girl was so unsatisfied with. It's there in the box he keeps the kids' drawings in, carefully sorted and stacked. There is still some unused square paper in there, perfect for origami.

There are apparently different folds with varying levels of difficulty. Form mountain folds, to miurai-ori. There's an entire art form behind that the demon didn't expect. It's entirely intriguing.

There's a variety of things one can make. And the book has a view tutorials to offer.

He decides to try the first figure in the book, it's as good as any, no? It's a frog.

He botches the first three attempts but just as he was about to be frustrated, he gets the hang of it. About three frogs in Nova enters the bedroom. Without a word she leans against Alastor's chair, who quickly warps her up in an embrace.

Nova: “.... Is it that folding thing again?”

Alastor: “Yes dove, would you like to give it another try?”

She grimaces, but says nothing. Still, it screams very loudly no to Alastor.

Alastor: “That's alright my darling. Would you like a frog instead?”

She grins a bit at the paper frog in hand. He misses that smile on her. On Felix too. Gently, Alastor brushes some hair from her face.

Eventually, he continues and Nova is content just watching. Until she just falls asleep. There's something calming about the activity, he should be more worried. And in some way he still is. But the uncomfortable fluttering of his heart, the prickly skin and the fur that's slightly on edge disappear for just a little while.

And hey, he's sure Lucifer will love the little duck he made. Even if it's still slightly wonky.

The WILDS Review

I heard about this game from alterhuman tumblr, and it's currently 50% off, so I thought why not try it out and make a review!

I started out as a wolf, because it's a classic. The game dropped me into a forest and basically set me loose, there isn't really a starting tutorial, just some basic gameplay tips. I felt like I lacked immediate direction and didn't know how to complete any self-imposed goals.

After running around for a bit, I found some animals to hunt. The animal behavior can be questionable, especially for a game that boasts being “The Most Realistic Animal Role-Playing Experience”. There isn't really a stalking/ambush mechanic, you basically just run at them and hope they can't outrun you, which most small game and deer can, so I either hunted rats, ate carcasses or got lucky and had my prey run into a wall and get stuck.

I also think it's weird that boar, deer, and moose run from a single wolf, when in real life they would most likely try to defend against them, especially when I ran into one with babies.

I do like the kill mechanic, when you catch a prey animal you get a small mini-game where you have to click at the right time to kill it. It was an interesting idea I haven't seen before.

To go back to the game's ambition of being realistic, I found it has some incorrect information. In the atlas, which I think is a really cool way to store info, it mentions packs/ranks however I feel that it paints with a broad brush that all animals fit into the alpha, beta, omega style of packs and that they maintain ranks with aggression and fighting. This has been disproven in wolves for decades(David Mech), and straight up doesn't align with other animals such as bears and foxes, who are mainly solitary animals. I also found 'marbled' foxes in the snowy part of the map instead of arctic foxes, which I found weird because marbled is a color pattern that exists only in captive(fur farmed) red foxes.

The customization for your animal is really nice, there are several subspecies variants that change your coat color, you can also choose your rank in the pack which I thought was a cool idea. You also have multiple traits that affect how fast you gain certain skills, which I really liked. The skill tree they're implementing in the future looks really interesting.

I found the game had quite an unpolished feel, even for an early access game. The only bug I ran into that impeded me was I couldn't get the 'bond' interaction to pop up when trying to find a mate. Other bugs included floating ducks, my camera clipping through the map, and my impeccable ability to climb straight up mountains.

The difficulty does feel unbalanced, I managed to win fights against a cougar and a brown bear as a solo wolf, but I didn't have enough stamina to catch deer. I also played as a deer and I felt too safe, I was hoping for an experience of having to stay alert to my surroundings and watch for predators, but I ran right up to a bear and ran away before it even got close to me. I very briefly tried out the raven too, and I have to say the flight feels great and is very fun.

Overall, I think this game is fun to mess around with for a few hours, especially with how cheap it is right now, and I feel it has a promising future if more development happens and the dev can take some feedback into consideration. As it stands currently, it lacks some substance and feels just a bit lackluster.

On some remotes (this option is available for Google Drive and Dropbox remotes, but not for OneDrive for example) you also have the option of downloading the whole remote contents to your filesystem for offline use, and uploading all the files copied to the folder mapped to the remote cloud storage server.įrom the RcloneTray menu you also get quick access to Rclone's ncdu (not to be confused with ncdu itself, this is only for rclone), an interactive, text-based user interface for the console, which allows the navigation of a remote, showing the used space. Top 10 best first bosses!

The first boss of any game has an important job. They are meant to set a tone for what is to come and serve as a tutorial for players who are still adjusting to the game’s mechanics. As such first bosses tend to be quite easy, laughably so in some cases. Sometimes games can go astray and have a first boss that is far to challenging in an unfair manner, such as Deus Ex Human Revolution’s first boss. These first bosses that I bring to you are not bad. They all serve a purpose and serve it well, whether that be easy, a challenge or serve a more passive role in the series, these are my top 10 first bosses that I think are the best.  One rule is that no two entries can come from the same series.  Finally, as always, this is my opinion, you are free to agree or disagree, but respect my opinion and I will respect yours in return.

10 - Garland - Final Fantasy

Garland is a very simple boss. Being the first ever final fantasy boss is what gets him a spot on this list. Inherently there is nothing special about Garland. He is simply just a hard-hitting physical attacker with decent hit points for the point of the game he is in. Once your party’s average level exceed level 5 Garland is a pushover. He has no special abilities to speak of. What makes him special is that Garland was the start of a legacy, a first impression for the many bosses to come. The original Final Fantasy was going to be Square’s final game, luckily this was not the case. So, Garland has secured the number 10 spot not for a intense or unique fight, but for being the start of one of the game industries largest franchises.

9 – Doctor Robotnik’s Flame Craft – Sonic 3

Another simple boss. This boss was the first boss fight I ever fought. After setting the entire first level on fire and pursuing Sonic with a massive airship, Robotnik chases Sonic and Tails down to a cliff in front of a waterfall. Robotnik will destroy the bridge to the cliff and then proceed to shoot fireballs at Sonic and Tails. He will duck behind the waterfall to move around, only emerging to fire. He leaves plenty of windows to hit him and is overall a very easy boss. If Sonic has the flame shield this boss becomes almost impossible to lose against. What puts this boss on the list is its nostalgic impression it has left on me.

8 - King Bomb-omb – Super Mario 64

The first boss of the first 3D Mario game. King Bomb-omb is a simple foe. In fact, he has no direct means of harming Mario other than throwing him off the mountain. This boss serves as a tutorial to fighting larger enemies and has a weakness similar to Bowsers. All you need to do is get behind him, pick him up and throw him. Just make sure you don’t throw him off the mountain or the battle resets. Yeah, its ok for him to throw you off but you can’t throw him off, what a villain. King Bomb-omb falls into the same category as Garland does, as in it was the start of something. Being the first 3D Mario boss, king Bomb-omb secures a spot on this list.

7 – Darkside - Kingdom Hearts 1

The first boss of kingdom hearts is the giant Darkside Heartless. The Darkside is one of the most recurring bosses in the series. What puts it on the list is that it is a great tutorial boss. The Darkside is not very difficult to defeat, even the souped up end game version is not very hard either. Its attacks are simple and easy to read and avoid. It does not have a complicated or many dangerous moves and those that are dangerous can be seen coming a mile away. The Darkside is a great way to introduce the combat mechanics of Kingdom Hearts and also serves as a lesson on how to deal with big bosses.

6 - Cleric Beast - Bloodborne

The Cleric beast is an optional boss but can be the first boss the player will encounter in Bloodborne. Most players who are aware of the beast will opt to challenge it first, as the other boss, father Gascoingne is INCREDIBLY difficult for new players. The Cleric beast is not easy, but it is forgiving in some ways. It serves as a tutorial for players to get used to fighting big monsters. The other boss serves as to how to fight human foes. The Cleric beast has a dynamic entrance and an intimidating presence. It will howl and trash about on the bridge. Luckily, it is not extremely strong, you will be able to survive a hit or two from this thing in the early game. Its limbs break easily, and it can be stunned for massive damage. The Cleric beast is one of the easiest bosses in Bloodborne, but it is no cakewalk so be prepared.

5 - Gohma - Ocarina of Time

Gohma, like Garland and King Bomb-omb is a historically critical boss fight. Being the first 3D Zelda boss, Gohma does a good job in setting the standards for what’s to come. Gohma is a simple boss with only a few moves and is overall not very difficult. In fact, a more skilled player can down her in a manner of seconds. What makes her great is that her boss is a solid early game fight, pitting the young and small Link against a much bigger foe. She has a specific weakness that can be exploited to stun her, and she is moderately built up before the actual fight. Gohma is by no stretch difficult, and yet she can be a pretty fun boss to fight against.

4 - Iudex Gundyr - Dark Souls 3

Gundyr is arguably the hardest boss on this list. He is fought very early in Dark Souls 3 and sets the stage of what is to come. He is encountered so early that the player will not yet be able to level up. This means he must be fought at the default starting level. Gundyr is a two-stage boss fight, with his first phase he is essentially a large human foe. His attacks are slow, and he seems to be a bit sloppy, but will punish players who overextend their attacks. He has a long reach as well, so he will test a player’s defense. If there is a flaw in your defense, he will relentlessly pummel you. His second stage involves him transforming into a large black mass. In this form he is even fiercer. His attacks cover a wider range and he does more damage. This boss will test you severely and may cause some to quit all together.

3 - Poseidon - God of War 3

Poseidon is a very cinematic boss. He sets the stage for God of War 3 nearly flawlessly and pulls out all the stops. The first boss is the god of the sea, a giant made of water riding upon a watery horse like creature. Armed with his signature trident, you fight him upon the moving body of the titan Gaia. Multiple stages and an assortment of lesser enemies to pester Kratos. After multiple stages and some brutal beat downs, Poseidon is finished off in a very over the top manner and it sets the tone for what is to come. You know I would feel sorry for Poseidon if he were…well a good person.  But let’s be honest, Poseidon was NOT a good person.

2 - Metal Gear Ray - Metal Gear Rising

Now this is a cinematic boss fight. The whole Metal Gear line is designed to be nearly unstoppable war machines, with Ray being introduced in the same game as Raiden. So, for a metal gear to appear in the opening level was crazy, what’s even more crazy is how it is fought. Within the first 10 minutes of the game you are throwing a 70-foot-tall robot into the air, jumping on it and slicing its arm off to the amazing song ‘rules of nature’. Toriel is the first main boss of Undertale. She is not fought immediately, and in fact she serves as a mentor of sorts to the player. A bond is formed and depending on what type of run you are going for, she will either be killed or sparred. Many players killed her on accident, not understanding the games mechanics. What makes this boss great is that unlike all the other bosses on this list, this boss has an emotional connection with the player. She is surprisingly difficult for new players, with a somewhat sporadic pattern. If she is sparred, then she will let the player go. If she is killed she will show sorrow… However, if she is killed in a no mercy run, she laughs manically and dies. So, what will you do? Spare her or not? FYI – Napstablook is a mini-boss, Toriel is the first main boss.

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2 review

A couple of years back, when Kylotonn had its first crack at the Isle of Man’s frankly absurd annual road race, the ambition of the whole enterprise made it easy to forgive any rough edges. Here was the 37.73 mile Snaefell Mountain Course, surely motorsport’s most audacious challenge and an anomaly in the modern era, served up in high fidelity and with the scale – and the scariness – intact. It was worth a punt just to experience that achievement, despite the ramshackle nature of the rest of the package. Now the sequel’s come along and smoothed all that out and more, it’s so much easier to recommend. Indeed, it’s probably the best racing game on two wheels I’ve played in an age.

Which isn’t to say that TT Isle of Man 2 is without its flaws. There are compromises, some fuzzy design and several basic features are plain missing – but they’re far outweighed by all the things Kylotonn does right, so let’s start there. Perhaps the biggest change this time out is how much more approachable it all is. Threading a few hundred horsepower down narrow country lanes is a pretty daunting prospect, so it’s only wise that TT Isle of Man 2 eases you in.

It does this with a swift tutorial, though it’s also fairly throwaway. More convincing is how TT Isle of Man 2 builds its way up to the headline event, its career mode pushing you through some more sedate – well, relatively sedate – road races before you’re unleashed on the island itself. What’s truly wonderful is that after a small handful of these you’ll be able to access TT Isle of Man 2’s Free Roam mode, a moderately-sized open world complete with miles of the open roads from which the game’s fictional tracks are made. The maps themselves are kind-of-condensed takes on real UK places – and if you’re picking up some Forza Horizon vibes then you’re not alone, and I’m sure that’s entirely intentional.

Special thanks to my nephew who knows loads more about bikes than I do and can confirm that TT Isle of Man 2 is legit.

Cribbing off what’s arguably the finest racing series we’ve had this past generation certainly isn’t a bad idea, and it puts TT Isle of Man 2 in good stead. That’s not to say it’s quite as glorious as Playground Games’ series – the challenges on offer in free roam are familiar (there are speed traps and timed sections of road, for example) but not as plentiful, and TT Isle of Man 2 certainly isn’t a looker. The introduction of variable time and weather conditions, lifted from last year’s WRC8, certainly helps (though note that wet weather racing isn’t on offer here, just as it’s not an option in the real TT – the riders are mad, but they’re not quite that stupid), but be aware that if you’re playing on console 60fps isn’t a thing, even on beefed-up machines like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

The thing that developer Kylotonn has really taken to heart from the Horizon series, though, is accessibility. It’s the kind of accessibility that comes when you have a handling model that makes sense – and what’s on offer here is a lot more logical than the occasionally errant model of Kylotonn’s first Isle of Man game. I can’t pretend to have any real knowledge or experience of what it’s like to ride a superbike at full chat around public roads, but I do know that TT Isle of Man 2 feels close to how I’d imagine one of these things feel. Approximating bike handling always seems like a much harder art to pin down than their four-wheel counterparts, but Kylotonn makes light work of it; there’s a new, more pronounced sense of balance and a satisfying feeling of weight as you lean these things in wide arcs around narrow roads. There’s neat feedback when your front wheel lifts under acceleration, or when you catch a speed wobble before taming it by shifting the weight around. In short, the bikes feel good.

As good as they have in any bike game I’ve played, though that’s not to say this isn’t without its challenges. There’s an achievement for falling off your bike 50 times, and I can guarantee it’ll be the first you’ll unlock, but even then tackling the TT course itself is much less daunting than it was before. Small mistakes still have big consequences – as they should, given the subject matter – and there’s no rewind feature here, though some concessions have been made given how long a single lap of the TT course takes. You can duck out at any point in a race and then resume without having to mess around with menus as TT Isle of Man 2 is smart enough to know to do so automatically.

It’s not all perfect. The career is a noble attempt at adding some structure to it all, and there are some neat ideas – you’ll need a certain number of signatures on your license before you can take on the TT, for example, while there’s a variety of different events to help mix things up – but it’s clumsily implemented and the best path through the lattice of events isn’t immediately obvious. More disappointing is the perks and upgrade system that’s been sloppily placed on top of your progress – an illogical mess that undermines the authenticity you’ll find elsewhere.

There are a handful of views and a dynamic camera that’s probably a bit too dynamic to play properly.

There remains a disparity between the grandeur and authenticity of the TT course and the other fictional tracks that are on offer (and yes, once again there’s no North West 200 or Southern 100, with the road racing licence seemingly restricted to the Isle of Man event itself), and it’s worth noting that production levels aren’t the best you’ll come across. The in-game music is beyond atrocious, I’ve encountered several bizarre visual bugs and I’m disappointed by the lack of customisation options for your rider.

But I’m most definitely not disappointed in TT Isle of Man 2, which makes bigger strides than I’d hoped for on an original that I was already smitten with. Kylotonn’s recreation of that grand old course was already proven first time out, and this time they’ve smartly built outwards while simultaneously making a two-wheeled racing game that’s as approachable and satisfying as any other I’ve played this generation. More importantly, it’s faithful to the speed and spectacle of one of motorsport’s wildest attractions. This is brilliant stuff.
