How about growingupugly and then turning out sort of okay looking but you don’t know for sure because your self esteem is shot and you’re convinced you look awful?

#GrowingUpUgly Being so wholly convinced of your hideousness that as an adult you now literally cannot even imagine that someone would pay you a compliment and mean it; the only conceivable thing that could be happening is that they’re either a) taking the piss like the boys in school used to or b) so repulsed by you that they feel sorry for you and are telling you you’re pretty because they think you need to hear it.

A lot of people ask me about my self esteem issues regarding my looks and I think these posts sum it up pretty well.

unpopular personal opinion time

I’m really tired of people telling those who suffer from depression and other mental illnesses that they should always shut up and pretend to be happy all the time. I understand being careful what you share on social media as it can get circulated—but it is incredibly demeaning to be told “People should only see the positive aspects of your life. Don’t talk about depression because it could make you look bad.” You wouldn’t tell someone they can’t be open about struggles with physical illness, so why are we actively trying to censor people from talking about mental illness?

The worst part is when they say I should try to act perfect because people look up to me. You know what? The fact that people look up to me gives me even more reason to want to be honest with how often I struggle with depression, social anxiety, and self-doubt. Because chances are a lot of them are going through the same things. And thinking that “role models” have perfect lives because of their carefully crafted social media posts isn’t helping all the young people out there who stress out about why THEY can’t be perfect too.

Is there a time and place to discuss things? Absolutely. But let’s try to stop silencing people on these things. It only reinforces the stigma.

It’s okay to be human.

I don’t like this new Tumblr layout...

I have the same complaints about whenever any other social media site changes their page up, but it really bugs me here. Especially as it doesn’t play very well with the XKit (or other Tumblr-enhancer) plugin...where’s my recent activity chart? Where’s my top ten favorite Tumblr blogs list? Wish we could go back to the old layout...

In response to this - You *are* a pretty and very attractive young lady, at least in my eyes as well as those of many of your other fans and friends. And you DO have worth as a human being. As the old saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and that there are many men like myself who favor unconventional beauty over what is considered “conventional” beauty in modern society.

There is no shame in admitting when you are wrong. There is no shame in realizing a mistake and trying to fix it. I don’t know why everyone is too prideful to acknowledge problematic behavior, apologize and try to fix it but there is no room to grow unless you do that. You are never going to grow into the beautiful, intelligent, caring and mindful person you want yourself to be until you start acknowledging what’s holding you back from that.

So much on my mind right now.

After the wonderful time I had at a local convention this past weekend, The mood has eventually turned a bit sour for me this past day.

For starters, There seems to be a problem with my dad’s state of mind now. He’s starting to hallucinate and see and hear things that don’t exist. All the family is very concerned for him and we’re trying to get him some help and see what’s going on, whether if it’s Alzheimer’s, a brain tumor or a side effect of the meds he’s been taking (he’s been taking painkillers after having his larynx removed due to cancer years ago)...

And then, there’s someone on the internet who’s been bothering me right now. (Someone new this time, rather than those select few that I’ve fallen out with in the past...) I can’t go into specific details, but they’ve been continuously harassing and hating on someone whom I’ve had feelings for on Facebook, leading this second person to lock down their Facebook page to just their closest circle of friends and cleaning everyone else out of their friends list. Sadly, I was among the casualties of that purge. I don’t hold it against this person that they did this, but rather against the guy who’s harassing them and caused them to make this mass-unfriending - I just feel a deep, intense, burning hatred for this guy right now, more than anything else, more than any other cyber-adversary I’ve had before him, and if he were in front of me or if he were ever to cross paths with me, you’d have to have at least a half-dozen people hold me back to keep me from beating this creep to a pulp and kicking his teeth in, not only for harassing and hurting this person I liked, but also for hurting me and many of this person’s other acquaintances and supporters on FB in the process...

I could really use some positive vibes right now, after this awful mood whiplash that’s just occurred to me. It’s just been a really awful day for me so far...
