Kenny is a senior dog that we took last year after he was seized by animal control in a dog-fighting raid. Never had I met such a broken, defeated and shut down dog before I met Kenny. We will never know how long he lived in that horrific environment, it's possible he was there all of his life. At 10-12 years old, Kenny bore many emotional and physical scars from years of abuse. I don't know how anyone could do this to such a kind dog, but Kenny has the most amazing spirit. We have never seen even a hint of aggression from him, Kenny was never a fighter by choice. It was something that was forced on him, or perhaps he was bait, we'll never know that either. What I can say is that Kenny's progress has been very inspirational to me and all of us here. We sent him to training to help him adjust to a "normal" life. A life where he doesn't have to live in fear everyday, where he can enjoy the company of other dogs and most important of all, not live shackled like a prisoner on a chain. His foster mom has continued to help Kenny let go of his painful past and he slowly has started to show us his personality. He loves other dogs, despite everything, and he always enjoys his Mellow Mushroom pizza crusts at adoption events. The days he spent too uncomfortable to take treats from people are far behind him :)  It's time for Kenny to spread his paws and fly. It's time for him to have a home of his own to live his golden years in comfort, feeling the love of a family. If anyone is looking for a laid back companion, Kenny is your guy. Trust me when I say that he will be forever grateful for your friendship.

Those whom have met Eddie in person know that he has struggled to live a "normal" life. He was seized in a dog-fighting raid last year at just 12 weeks old and has been scared of the world ever since. His human interaction was very minimal in the first months of his life and what little time he spent with them was frightening. Eddie didn't trust us, he didn't trust other dogs and really, who could blame him? We hadn't seen a case of fear this severe before and wanted to do our best to help him. Since joining our rescue, Eddie has been two trainers, one didn't feel he was adoptable. We hoped training would help Eddie to be comfortable in his own skin and become more confident in himself, people, and the world around him. He made some progress, but returned to us still nervous, unsure of people and fearful of new situations. We knew he needed a very special foster home, with patient people and a lot of love. Perhaps this would be what could help him turn a corner, relax and let go of the fear he carries with him. This is the first photo update of Eddie resting with his new tiny human friend ;) He has also played with his canine foster sister and had lots of fun so far. We're so proud of him and are very thankful to his foster family for giving him this chance to shine!

This uber adorable baby girl is Khaleesi! She is a 9 week old Heeler mix and we are totally in love with her bat ears! We rescued Khaleesi, her siblings and mother Sheba from euthanasia and they are growing up to be pretty super cute! Khaleesi isn't ready to leave us just yet, but we are accepting applications now. I want to tell you guys about a special lady, her name is Xena. She is one of my all-time favorite rescue dogs and I honestly cannot understand how she has not found a home yet. She is the absolute happiest dog ever and she doesn't care what she is doing, as long as she gets to be with her person. Xena loves car rides, walks and is always excited to share a new adventure. She is housebroken, she walks like a lady on a leash and she is very well-behaved. Xena is always my favorite dog to spend time with at events. She loves to be pampered and grooming her is a breeze. She will jump in the tub for you, let you clean her ears and clip her nails without any problems. Xena LOVES kids and has lived with them previously. She does well with other male dogs her size and wants a home of her own so badly. Currently Xena lives in boarding and she would love so much to have a foster or adoptive home. It would mean so much to us too to see her finally have the love and attention she deserves!

Cleo is the sweetest, most calm girl and it's impossible not to fall in love with her! She is such a perfect dog and would love nothing more than to be a cherished family member. Cleo weighs around 40 lbs, she walks well on a leash and does well with other dogs. She is a laid back, affectionate girl that loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. Cleo yearns for love and a place to call home, we know her family is out there!

Saved from euthanasia by our rescue and today, Cersei got to go toy shopping with her foster mom :)  This is exactly why we work so hard giving second chances to as many dogs as we can!

Being surrendered by her "family" after 10 years of love and devotion has been hard on Lu Lu. In one day, she lost the only family she had ever known, she lost her home, she lost everything :( It's hard to imagine anything more heartbreaking for a dog to go through than that, but there is. You see, Lu Lu has been suffering in silence for years with various medical conditions that were left untreated. Today we learned the extent of her neglect and exactly what surgeries and care she will need to live the rest of her life comfortably. Folks, the care this poor dog needs is astounding and we REALLY need your help. We don't want her to have to suffer anymore, we want her to be able to see and chew without pain. Lulu is a 10 year old English Bulldog that was surrendered by her former family to a shelter.  It's heartbreaking that she was abandoned in her golden years, when she needed her family the most.  Lulu hasn't let life get her down though.  She has a loving heart that is eager for attention and she loves to meet new people!  We have started her on joint supplements and we expect that she will be moving around even better soon.  Lulu would love to find a home where she has a soft bed and can feel secure.  She will require a little extra care and attention at her age, but spending time with her is so enjoyable.  She has so much personality and love to share, now she just needs a family to pamper her :)

** SAFE! **

What better way to start the day than with some good news! This little girl was an urgent that we posted this week from Shelbyville. She had mange which the shelter said was Sarcoptic and her future seemed very bleak. This little girl had an angel on her side though, who saw her posting on our page and couldn't stop thinking about her. Ashley went to the shelter and adopted her on her very last day, naming her Zoey <3 Her shelter picture is shown on the left and freedom pic on the right :) This little girl has already been to a vet and has Demodex mange, not Sarcoptic, which luckily is the type that is not contagious. We are so thrilled that our post helped save her life and have reached out to Ashley to help with her medical expenses. Zoey has a long way to recovery with mange and a secondary skin infection.
