27/04/2020 - WEEK 4 of #2020quarantinechallenge:
Mon - What is your biggest tip for staying focused?
So as the lack-of-focus expert i can recommend some of things đ¤
First of all keep your study area relatively clean as the mess of useless things around will distract you.Â
Second of all once you sit down to study get the headphones on! I just love to study in silence but being at home with whole family itâs mostly impossible. So I refer to youtube but instead of music I listen to ambience/library sounds/studywithme (today I studied with Ruby and I strongly recommend her channel). Discovering asmr rooms was a game-changer for me bc it just give me perfect ambience for study without distracting music.Â
Thirdly, a very small thing but Iâm recently trying to not pay as much attention to the clock/page number when Iâm studying/reading for class. I felt that I was just checking them to see how long Iâve been studying for, whenâs my next break or how much Iâve already done which just made me think of what Iâm gonna do after I study instead of being present and focused and just getting it done.
I hope its helpful! đ

hello my friends! in a moment of inspiration (aka me not wanting to write another paragraph for my essay), i have decided to make a post of tips! and hopefully itâs helpful to some of you :0 some of these are common and worth repeating, whereas others i havenât seen? and are hopefully useful
disclaimer: iâve only been in uni for one semester and everyone is different so if some of these donât work for you then that is a-okay! also i donât know much myself so feel free to comment/add as you please
YOUR LIVING SPACE
there will be a day where you need a Very Small Thing (socks, necklace, That One Homework Assignment, a paperclip, an earring) and you wonât be able to find it
how do you avoid this? easy. stay organized
have pillows/blankets if you can. theyâre nice to sit on if your desk chair is hard and wooden. also you can be cozy and turn yourself into a burrito if itâs cold, 10/10 would recommend
be nice to your roommates and/or suitemates if you have any
on that note, set rules right away
possible things to consider when making room rules:
whether or not youâre okay w having alcohol/substances in the room
if you wanna know when your roommateâs friends are hanging out in the room (i personally have to mentally prepare myself to walk into my room and see 8 people hanging out)
if visitors are allowed to sleep over, and if so, how many days in advance do you wanna know
snack policy. shared? individual? ask before you eat?
what time is âquiet timeâ
if youâre gonna sleep and i have hw, is it okay if i stay in the room or is that distracting?
who takes out the trash/cleans the bathroom/vacuums (switch off every week? one person does each thing? do it if you see it needs to be done?)
sometimes you will have to compromise and thatâs okay
FOOD
eat. eat 3 meals. eat 4 if you want. just please please eat
donât skip meals. itâs not healthy and you should treat your body nicely bc itâs the only one you have
get a water bottle and bring it with you to class
have snacks. have ones that come in little containers or smaller packets. put them in your backpack. pull those bad boys out when itâs 3pm and you still have 2 more classes and you need a little pick-me-up
fruit is good. apples, oranges, bananas, plums, etc.
my food tag has lots of easy things to make
or just google âeasy college foodâ and youâll find stuff too
freshman fifteen doesnât have to be a thing if you are mindful of what youâre eating and how much youâre exercising and all of that
also a little weight never hurt anybody so calm down and be nice to yourself and know that itâs okay
CLASSES
i donât ever skip class. maybe you will have an easy class and you will want to skip it. itâs up to you.
however, you will not be able to skip class all semester and teach yourself everything about an unfamiliar subject
make friends in your classes. text them. eat lunch with them once in a while so they know who you are when itâs halfway through the semester and youâre sick and miss two lectures and need their notes
know when the tests are. study for them. even if itâs a subject you know well, study anyway and get a 100%
sometimes professors change exam dates. or they assign extra homework.
they might post it online or email you or something
or they might announce it in class. and if youâre not in class then you wonât know. so maybe go to class
stay on the cautious side your first semester. donât overwhelm yourself with 5 difficult courses. after that, tailor your schedule times and difficulty to suit you
HOMEWORK
do it, and do it asap
iâm not kidding, it will save you so much trouble later on
start studying for tests at least a week in advance
prioritize things. yeah that discussion post is really interesting but if your professor just checks it for participation, then maybe spend less time on that and instead prioritize the project thatâs 20% of your grade
if a profâs office hours donât work then email them, usually theyâre nice and will find a time that works for both of you
iâm not kidding you should really do your hw asap
EXTRACURRICULARS
stick with what you like. stop what you donât like.
go to club meetings, theyâre usually not longer than like an hour (mine are only 30mins) and the club heads will notice you and appreciate you
itâs a nice way to meet people who are interested in similar thingsÂ
SOCIAL LIFE
ask people to eat lunch with you. 90% of the time they will say yes.
the other 10%, they either already ate or are in class, but they would if they could. donât take it personally if theyâre busy
seriously ask people to eat with you. itâs a nice way to get to know people
do things off-campus once in a while. go to museums, the beach, shopping, laser tag, escape rooms, etc
do things on-campus too. there are usually cool events and sometimes they end up being a lot of fun
donât go to parties if you donât want to. itâs okay.
donât drink if you donât want to. seriously. itâs okay. people will understand. and if they donât, then theyâre not a good friend
OTHER TIDBITS
if you live close to home, visit your family, but also spend time with people/friends. they want to get to know you
if you live far from home, hang out with your friends, but also take time to call your family (+ pets) and update them on your life. they miss you
have some cash on you if you can. i keep ~$20 on me
things get stolen on campus. donât leave your stuff lying around. bring your backpack into the bathroom if you need to
get a stapler. professors like it when you staple things
headphones/earbuds. you will use them at some point
find time to read for fun, itâs a nice way to get away from screens and think about something else
AND THATâS A WRAP!! Good luck, all! My ask is always open c: ~Aisa

Masterlist of Bullet Journal Ideas
I was going to post images with each listing, but 100 pictures on one Tumblr post was quite a task. So, if youâd like to see examples of any of these, I am adding them to my Pinterest Board which can be found [here].
1. Books To Read- Color them in as you go! Or make a fun list of them and check them off one at a time.Â
2. All About Me- Make doodles of things you love, add quotes, draw yourself!
3. Future Log- There are so many ways to make this page. Please do some research to see which would work best for you
4. Movies To Watch- Pretty self-explanatory, but there are many ways to do this page too
5. Skills To Learn- Jot down all the things you want to learn
6. Important Numbers and Addresses- In case of emergency of course. Also, be careful what you put in this part for your own privacy reasons
7. Year In Pixels- Honestly, one of my favorite pages
8. Fonts, Banners, and Frame Ideas- For practice and to choose from when you are having trouble being creative
9. Snail Mail Log- Keeping a list of people who you want to send letters to
10. Savings Tracker- Itâs always fun to see how much you have saved up
11. TV Series Tracker- Keep track of all the shows you still need to binge
12. Monthly Challenges- I know I havenât been helpful with this lately, but you can always search for challenges on my page
13. Music Playlists- A list of songs that describe you, your goals, things you love, etc.Â

15. Inspiration Page- Fill it with quotes, pictures, memories, etc.Â
16. Self-Care List/Ideas- I posted many lists like this on my Pinterest if you want more ideas
17. Monthly/Yearly Memories- Look back on all the good and bad things that youâve gotten over and endured.Â
18. Sleep Tracker- See how many hours you get each night. This also works well when paired with number 7.Â
19. Me Time Log- Keep track of how many hours you spend with yourself. We all need to learn to love on ourselves a little more.Â

28. Grocery Lists- Every time I go shopping, I forget something because I didnât write it down.Â

78. Doctor Appointment Log- If you donât want to add them to your calendar or they are too far out to add to the calendar youâre using.Â
79. Username and Password List- Be careful with this page. If someone finds your bullet journal, this could be bad.Â

How to Handle Having TOO MUCH To Do
So letâs say youâre in the same boat I am (this is a running theme, have you noticed?) and youâve just got, like, SO MUCH STUFF that HAS to get done YESTERDAY or you will DIE (or fail/get fired/mope). Everything needs to be done yesterday, youâre sick, and for whatever reason you are focusing on the least important stuff first. What to do!
Take a deep breath, because this is a boot camp in prioritization.
Make a 3 by 4 grid. Make it pretty big. The line above your top row goes like this: Due YESTERDAY - due TOMORROW - due LATER. Along the side, write: Takes 5 min - Takes 30 min - Takes hours - Takes DAYS.
Divide ALL your tasks into one of these squares, based on how much work you still have to do. A thank you note for a present you received two weeks ago? That takes 5 minutes and was due YESTERDAY. Put it in that square. A five page paper thatâs due tomorrow? That takes an hour/hours, place it appropriately. Tomorrowâs speech you just need to rehearse? Half an hour, due TOMORROW. Do the same for ALL of your tasks
Your priority goes like this:
5 minutes due YESTERDAY
5 minutes due TOMORROW
Half-hour due YESTERDAY
Half-hour due TOMORROW
Hours due YESTERDAY
Hours due TOMORROW
5 minutes due LATER
Half-hour due LATER
Hours due LATER
DAYS due YESTERDAY
DAYS due TOMORROW
DAYS due LATER
At this point you just go down the list in each section. If something feels especially urgent, for whatever reason - a certain professor is hounding you, youâre especially worried about that speech, whatever - you can bump that up to the top of the entire list. However, going through the list like this is what I find most efficient.
Some people do like to save the 5 minute tasks for kind of a break between longer-running tasks. If thatâs what you want to try, go for it! Youâre the one studying here.
So thatâs how to prioritize. Now, how to actually do shit? Thatâs where the 20/10 method comes in. Itâs simple: do stuff like a stuff-doing FIEND for 20 minutes, then take a ten minute break and do whatever you want. Repeat ad infinitum. Itâs how Iâve gotten through my to do list, concussed and everything.
Youâve got this. Get a drink and start - we can do our stuff together!
