New MC Heritage Options
Hello everyone! So I’ve received several suggestions to include additional heritage options for MC, especially for the supernatural genre. I was planning on expanding your genre/heritage choice in later volumes as MC discovers more about their story world, but I figured it might be a better idea to establish that earlier in the prologue instead.
And then I thought, what if the fantasy heritage options were a universal choice instead of being limited to fantasy?
So, all genres will now allow you to select MC’s Heritage:
• Human Heritage • Elven Heritage • Orcish Heritage • Dwarven Heritage • Halfling Heritage • Gnomish Heritage • Goblin Heritage • Draconic Heritage • Fae Heritage
In addition, some genres will allow you to select a more specific origin on top of MC’s heritage:
Sci-Fi:
Extra-Galactic Adaptability: Will now allow MC to be a more proper alien by letting you select which attribute to specialize in (Vigor/Grace/Knowledge/Charm). The choice that increases Vigor will now mention MC having tougher skin, for example.
Mythology:
• Divine Ancestry • Nephilim Ancestry • Cambion Ancestry
Supernatural:
• Werewolf Ancestry • Vampiric Ancestry • Nephilim Ancestry • Cambion Ancestry • Enchanter Ancestry
Additional Notes:
The [Fae Heritage] will be the catch-all for most other fantasy beings, so you can headcanon whatever creature is your MC’s heritage.
The [Divine Ancestry] option for Mythology is the same as the current one. But now MC can have nephilim/cambion ancestry instead of being a demigod.
I think I’ll stick with werewolves as the only shifter option, as they’re the most popular. If I ever decide to add more options, they’ll have to be canines, but don’t quote me on that.
I went with “enchanter” rather than witch/wizard/sorcerer/etc. as I think it’s the most fitting and neutral name for the option.
The [Divine Ancestry] and [Enchanter Ancestry] will also be the only available option for MCs with Fae or Draconic Heritage if you choose Mythology or Supernatural. Otherwise, we’ll end up with dragon werewolves. While that sounds cool, it’s a little too much for me, even with the plot hole excuse.
Genre passives will now also grant you Bonus EXP when you are in a story world/setting of the same genre. Since the Adventure genre has a lot of overlap, the bonus EXP will be active whenever you have the [Adrenaline Rush] Status Effect instead.
I’ll have to rewrite the prologue a bit, but this will make the (previously) fantasy-exclusive flavor text and special interactions become more worthwhile to write.
There won’t be any exclusive heritage scenes until you arrive in MC’s story world, so the additional workload should be minimal. Plus, you can now have elf detectives, orc superheroes, halfling werewolves, or dwarves in space! 😄 Fantasy has always been the most popular genre, so this should also help in balancing things out a bit.
Nothing’s concrete for now, but I’ll definitely have to adjust the bonus stats and effects. Please let me know your thoughts! 😊

As always, these are subject to change, especially because I have no idea how powerful most of these will be. But since they are supposed to be extra-powerful, I've made it so that the [Goblin Ancestry] bonus doesn't affect the souvenir trinkets.

Public service announcement.
Blue/purple lips and fingernails is a symptom of low oxygen in lighter skin tones.
In darker skin tones you're looking for grey or white lips and fingernails. Other places where this may be not evidence is the tongue and gums.
Figured since everyone gets taught what low oxygen looks like on lighter skin. Everyone should know what it looks like on dark skin too.

An Outlaws Guide to naming your god-damn horse.
A little preview/guide of what you can name your horse in the coming update:
Horsenames can be up to 30 characters (including spaces)
Horsenames can consist of up to three words (hyphenated words count as one word, but can't be checked for naming easter eggs)
You can name your horse after almost every NPC (with a few exceptions) and most of the NPC horses (again, with a few exceptions)
Two words names can end up using Charlie's full name for your horse, including varieties, you can combine Charlie's name with NPC names, but you cannot name you horse after the full names of other NPCs.
Three word names don't allow to use any of Charlie's names, nor elements of the other NPCs, except a handful of proper word-names.
You can, of course, name your horse 'Horse'. Other languages might follow, input is needed here.
Still polishing the code, and after a recount it is at 15k words...
All for small comments from the NPCs along the way...

Let's start with the Valdezes then. Remy is a sweet and affectionate person who, despite wanting to be independent, likes to let loose every now and again. Remy loves flowers and likes to name their most important belongings after them. She is seen as the academic and the creator between the two of them. Meanwhile, Ryan is the protective older sibling and can be that protector who could push it (the effort to protect) into recklessness. He has a preference for games with a little competition. He is the athlete and the performer twin due to him taking taekwendo and piano.

Here's Luis, if the matchmaking is still up!
Luis is dubbed to be "chaos incarnate" and is prone to act first, think later. He is also known to be very stubborn and likes intense flavors. His favorite genres are Supernatural and Mythology. His love language is physical touch.
Hello, thank you for consulting Roselyna's Matchmaking Service! Rosie had to finish her homework first, so sorry for the late response!
Anyway, here are our Top 3 picks!
1. Chamyrrha undoubtedly takes the number one spot. I think Cham would get along very well with Luis's shenanigans, but you can trust her guidance to rein him in if he goes too far (she'll know what he's planning in advance because of her mind reading) and she has the power to stop it. She's also very stubborn and has a lot of experience with mischievous imps, so if there's someone who can make him behave, it might be Cham. It's not her primary love language, but she's also very fond of hugs, so there's that too. Not to mention, her being an angel fits both of his favorite genres.
2. For second, we have Wayne! It's not a surprise that he's one of the candidates, but I brought Wayne up to the number two spot because you said he has a preference for boys, (although it might take Wayne a little longer for the crush to develop since it's the other way around for him). As silly as he is, I wouldn't describe Wayne anywhere close to "chaos incarnate", so he might actually be the voice of reason for once and invite him to do less chaotic but still fun things instead. And they'd never run out of things to do together.
3. Honestly, it's hard to pick someone for Top 3 since everyone else besides B and JM has their own merits. Rosie and Lily will have their own way of handling his chaotic nature and keeping up with him (although in very different ways), but Rosie probably comes out ahead if Luis loves cuddling as much as Rosie.
An honorable mention goes to Cordelia too, since she'd probably be my 3rd pick if she liked boys. Delia very much believes in "opposites attract", and in this case, Luis may be able to bring out Delia's more reserved nature, while Delia might be able to teach him some responsibilities.

You will now be able to change MC & Twin's nicknames anytime once you unlock the diary!
In addition, you will now also be able to choose/change the nickname you use for each F6E member (even if you aren't bestfriends), and change what you call Maggie/MC's Dad/Julie/Robert via the diary.
Speaking of nicknames, Wayne's diary entry will now mention that his middle name (and Mary's maiden name) is Hart! Of course, it's very much on brand for him to say that that's his middle name. 😄
MC's Pet Backstory
MC's pet will now have a prosthetic (I'm thinking one of their hind legs).
Okay, it's not an actual backstory, but this opens up new backstory opportunities (you'll know if you read IAC), about why Julie and Robert adopted them in the first place.
More Details about MC's Dad
In the next update, I will be updating the prologue to mention the job of MC's Dad, along with finally giving the option to choose where MC's Dad is from (if your MC is Half-Filipino).

Revamped Twin Fight Scene
I haven't actually played through DDWCaPH! since I finished Chapter 2, and when I finally did last month, I noticed a ton of typos, confusing lines, and awkward scenes, which I'll be working to address.
The twin fight scene in Chapter 1 is definitely a big offender, so I'll try to rewrite it so it has a bit more build up.
New Secret About Julie & Maggie
The last conversation you have with Paddy in Chapter 5 will have new details about Julie's laptop. Technically I've already kinda spoiled this secret before in one of the older versions, but here's a related hint featuring a new choice in Chapter 3:

I've also changed a few details in the conversation about how Tita Josie met Kuya Popoy, but you're not supposed to know that secret until Chapter 6 in the new branch. 😉 Speaking of...
JM's Mansion Sleepover Branch
Since I'll be skipping the Investigation Branch for now, I figured adding this branch is a good middle ground. It also lets me move the unfinished party conversation with Tita Steph/Yaya Connie/Kuya Popoy to that branch instead, since the party scene is overloaded already. Plus, it's also the only chance you'll have to visit his mansion.
Anyway, it looks like the majority want to have the sleepover at JM's instead! (Although I have a hunch that some of you are just more interested in having the chance to talk to B again 😛) I had a bit of trouble adapting some of the Chapter 6 scenes I've planned, but I figured it out eventually.
Ancestry and Heritage Passives
You will now be able to select your MC's Ancestry Trait regardless of your chosen favorite genre! You can check out this post for details about all the new passives.
Character Class, Trait, and Stat Adjustments
Character Class Buffs
Class Bonuses will be increased from 5/10/20% to 10/20/30% to make them more impactful. Class Passives will now also give +25/50/100% EXP from successful stat checks of the same stat as the Class Bonus (since the coding for it is already there).
Vocabulary Trait Changes
Someone pointed out that it's weird that inputting a custom swear word always censors it, so now I'm making it so that only the 🐤[Young at Heart] and 🐣[Child at Heart] Traits will censor your input and most of the swear words.
In addition, the above traits will now grant bonus EXP when increasing your Naive Personality, while the other two vocabulary traits 🦅[Mini-Adult] / 🦆[Childhood Graduate] will grant bonus EXP when increasing your Precocious Personality to make them a bit more immersive.
Gender Traits
As mentioned in the last poll, I was considering including the gender-related options (specifically Trans/Non-binary/Genderfluid/Questioning) to the list of Traits.
The majority seemed in agreement, so I'll go ahead with the change (unless someone has a good argument against it). I think adding it to the list of traits better communicates to the player that it's not just a cosmetic choice that gets forgotten.
Other Trait Adjustments
The 🥇[Top 5] and 🥈[Top 10] Trait Requirements have been lowered significantly (and now takes MC's Knowledge Stat into consideration). To make the EXP Penalty make more sense, it now only applies to EXP gained from Knowledge Stat checks.
This also applies to the 😎[Self-Confident] EXP Penalty (it now only applies to EXP gained from Charm Stat checks).
There are a bunch of other Trait adjustments, but these are the biggest ones.
New Locket Stat and Intimidation Stat Rework
Now that you've discovered one of your locket's powers, I've decided to add a new main stat alongside your HP. This will function like mana or energy in other games, and if you've read IAC, you probably have an idea of what this will be used for in the future. 😉
Your maximum HP will now also be increased to 1,000, and each point of Vigor will now increase it by 10. This was done to make chip damage (like being whacked with a stuffed toy) less threatening.

The Intimidation Stat will now be based on your Vigor Stat, and is increased by 50% of both of your Cold and Composed Personality Stats. Certain Traits/Passives will still increase/decrease Intimidation, but this makes the stat less dependent on your personality stats.
For example: A Tall MC with 30 Vigor, 70% Cold, and 50% Composed will have an Intimidation Stat of 54.

Hello! I've noticed a racism problem within the Our Life fandom, particularly Our Life: Now and Forever. I won't name names, but there is an overabundance of fanart where the artist has HEAVILY whitewashed Qiu. It's pretty upsetting to see them overwrite Qiu's identity as a person of color. Given that you are the game dev, I was hoping to see you speak out about this problem and condemn the act of whitewashing your characters. Thanks
I'm sorry that is happening. There's no reason for it and I don't agree with anyone who has chosen to do it.
To try and be helpful, here are the base skin tone colors for the OL LIs (besides Tamarack and Baxter who don't have this problem).

I could do this for every character in all our games, but if people are getting the hair and eyes and clothes right, they shouldn't need to be told what the skin tones are. Popular white guys can be drawn thousands of times and it's always the exact right shade of pale somehow, isn't it.
If people are thinking white is "neutral" and can just stay as is, but once a character has a darker skin tone than it's fair game to start making tweaks to their color palette so you can "get creative" or have "dramatic lighting" or to bluntly have it be more to your preference in appearance or whatever, my answer is no. That's not for you to decide and it's not harmless. Don't whitewash our, or any, characters.

Hello everyone. I'm no longer busy so I can start working on the update again, but I badly need to destress for a bit, so please give me a day or two before I respond to the asks.
In the meantime, I made a few balance changes to the ancestry/heritage traits to make them a bit more thematic.
To make the changes easier to read, I marked the buffs/new additions in green, and marked the nerfs/removed stats in red:
Note: Ancestry+ refers to the enhanced versions of the Ancestry Traits if you pick High Fantasy as your favorite genre.
🧬 Human Ancestry: Increase stat bonuses from Height, Body Type, and Character Class Bonus by 25%, +25/50/100% EXP from successful stat checks (if same stat as the Class Bonus) 🧬 Human Ancestry+: Increase stat bonuses from Outfits, Height, Body Type, and Character Class Bonus by 50%, +100/200/400% EXP from successful stat checks (if same stat as the Class Bonus)

MC Ancestry and Heritage Traits
To distract myself from the gloom and doom that is last night, I've finally gathered the new heritage options for MC. (See this post if you're confused about what I'm talking about)
To be clear: After the next update, you will be able to choose one Ancestry Trait, and one Heritage Trait, regardless of the favorite genre you choose. If this is all confusing to you, don't worry too much about it. MC just gets more bonuses!
Ancestry Traits:
🧬 Human Ancestry: +5% to All Stats, +50% Class Bonus, +100% EXP from stat checks testing the same stat as the Class Bonus
🧬 Elven Ancestry: +10% Charm, Increase Grace by 25% of Current Health, +50% Healing Received, +Enhanced Senses
🧬 Orcish Ancestry: +33% Vigor & Intimidation (Increase this bonus by 50% of missing health), +33% Max HP, +100% EXP from Enemy Encounters, -10% Charm
🧬 Dwarven Ancestry: +5% Knowledge, +10% Vigor (If below half HP, increase Vigor Bonus and take less damage by 30% of Headstrong Personality), +25% EXP from Codex and Trinket Discoveries, +Enhanced Senses, +Resistance to Poison and Inebriation, -10% Grace

Enhanced Senses: give you additional information on certain interactions, such as when eavesdropping and exploring in the dark
