Tobin HC #1: He follows a vegetarian diet

While Tobin will eat meat in order to survive the difficult conditions of war, he prefers to eat a vegetarian diet. Since he grew up raising animals in Ram along with the farm work, he feels guilty eating meat.

Findings and evidence under the cut.

As most know, in Echoes you have the option to feed provisions to your units to restore HP or cure fatigue (or just because). Each time you feed them, they can have one of four reactions to the provision you give them: (1) Dislike, (2) Neutral, (3) Like, and (4) Love. For example, these are the quotes Tobin responds with:

Sooo one day I was curious and fed Tobin a bunch of provisions while recording his reactions to them. My findings:

Dislikes - Dried shieldfish, garlic Neutral - orange, bread, water (how do you not like water), soup, herring, dried meat, raw meat, sausage, ham Likes - carrot, honey, sweet cookie, mana herbs Loves - holey cheese, butter, yogurt, blue cheese

Interestingly, Tobin responded neutrally with every meat provision I fed him. Coincidence? I think not. His quote “It’s...edible...” suggests that while he’s eating it, he doesn’t particularly want it. Based on the details known about Ram village, it’s likely that Tobin grew up on a farm and raised animals or was at least around them most of his life. Chances are, growing up with the animals made him attached to them and gave him a sense of guilt by eating them. Either that or he just doesn’t like the taste of meat.

Note--this is just my opinion based on what I’m finding and isn’t confirmed. ♥

I’m still so late and stuck in chapter 3 because of the insane con crunch I just had but I really like how refreshing this game is compared to Awakening and Fates! The art is also gorgeous I can’t Leon why you so sassy I love you you’re not even on this print I am the worst
